    Good news everyone! Today we’re taking a look at that most objectionable food from fiction, Bachelor Chow. Can I make my own dog food for humans - with blackjack, and hookers!

    Fun fact: the footage of me both tasting the dog food and the freeze-dried version was corrupted and had to be re-shot. But it did give me the opportunity to say to myself “good news everyone! You get to eat dog food again!”

    What I love about Babish is that he actually attempts to make something show-accurate. Any time someone else has made Bachelor Chow, they resort to just making it a dessert. I understand that it’s more accessible, but it’s just a lot more fun seeing someone bring fiction to life in the most accurate way possible.

      I'm legit surprised by that, because I imagined Bachelor Chow as, well, definitely still dog foodish but more a probably cheap protein/carb based mash made into pellets
      Something like corn or barley mostly, but the gravy does definitely imply some meat or at least some savory element, dessert just seems way off

      Not to mention meat production itself isn't necessarily balm for the earth, but that one caught me off guard, too.
      A recyclable box isn't even anything special, did they literally have absolutely nothing else to go for them that they could've included in the script?

      Having ordered ButcherBox one thing I'll say in defense of calling it 100% recyclable - the padding is paper based (it feels almost like carpet padding), the interior structure to hold the meat and dry ice is cardboard (except for some basic, thin plastic bags around the ice itself). So I guess you can at least say it's better than a box that uses styrofoam pieces to hold the product, peanuts, etc.
      Edit to clarify: Yes the meat is still in plastic. Yes all of the plastics involved are non-recyclable. Yes this isn't much of a step up from any other cardboard box based shipment. Yes meat is bad the environment.

      A cardboard box filled with individually plastic packaged steaks. Literally the least ecologically friendly thing you could buy, except they are actually delivering them to your door in an incredibly inefficient manner. Im honestly fine with it, but i wish they wouldnt try to greenwash it and slap an "eco-friendly" sticker on there. It just cheapens that concept and its dishonest.

    • @Ekenaa
      @Ekenaa 3 ปีที่แล้ว +32

      @@joeyfischler1031 plus recyclable is not the same as actually recycled. Plenty of recyclable materials end up in landfills on the other side of the world or in the ocean because they're not collected, not sorted, or it's just cheaper for companies to buy "new" material instead of recycled material. Branding disposable material as eco friendly is baffling to me.
