    Man what crazy looking guitar( in a good way!) I'm waiting for someone to review the SN-1000FR version of this! I barely found about SN series and I'm in shock at how amazing they look! I currently own a EC-256 In the cherry sunburst finish. Its a great guitar but an SN-1000 series is gonna be one hell of an upgrade when I get my hands on one lol

      I really wish I went with the FR model. I still really like this one, but 22 frets and the fixed bridge just don't inspire me as much. Hopefully for 2021 they offer the FR model in more colors!

    Very nice review man! Thanks for that detailed review! I had not seen anything about this guitar until just yesterday on a IG post. After checking the specs of this guitar I haven't seen many others this year that I've wanted more. The only addition I would have hoped for is 24 frets, but with everything this guitar comes with I won't hesitate to order one from my local guitar shop! 🤘

    • @nathansguitars328
      @nathansguitars328  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hell ya. I wanted 24 frets too. It seems odd the Floyd version is 24 frets but not this one. Probably would have been cheaper to make both the same neck, but ESP does like to give lots of options. I'm still hoping for some updated colors of the Floyd model in 2021.

      @@nathansguitars328 I'm surprised as well they just didn't opt for making both guitars 24 frets. Being as it is aimed I would imagine more towards metal players. Definately love that sand blasted finish with the exposed wood grain. Just looks incredible and like you mentioned for fingerprints, they are essentially visibly eliminated. A few companies have some nice sand blasted finishes this year. I especially liked the "Old Yella " from Charvel but once again it's not as well spec'd as this one and again 22 frets... I know we sound picky but it is what it is. I totally agree with you with all the options we have these days with guitars like the one you demoed. Feeling spoiled! It's a great time to be a guitarist! 🤣🤘

    • @nathansguitars328

      I got to try one of the ash Charvels at NAMM. They are certainly amazing, but I agree, not really price competitive compared to these LTD. Charvel really needs to offer stainless steel frets on the DK24 line. I think a lot of brands offer 22 because the neck pickup sounds better on a 22 fret guitar (imo). I'm sure the 22 fret version of this neck is way cheaper to make with the scallops.

      I’m really digging them and I’d love to get one. The o my thing stopping me is that there aren’t as many options as some of their lines. Like the ECs or the M series. I’d love to see more colors and finishes like flamed and quilted maple tops and a FR option in the dual humbucker configuration.

    • @nathansguitars328
      @nathansguitars328  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's actually a transparent purple burst but unless it's harsh lighting it just looks black. It was like 900 pre covid? Just a standard dk24 made in Mexico. It's a great guitar but the fret material is a super soft Alloy. That guitar has more fret wear than some of my 15+ year old guitars with 10x the play time. I want another dk24, but I'm waiting for them to adopt stainless frets.

    • @nathansguitars328

      Ya the closest is probably this purple dk24. There is also the San Dimas Pro Mods. They came in black with maple necks fairly often, not offset dots and I think more commonly 22 frets. Good luck finding what you're after!

  • @weedian710
    @weedian710 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How does it compare to the pro mod? Not too concerned about steel frets. I'm wondering about feel and sound. I can't decide between this or the Charvel DK24 HSS pro mod. Wish I could try both.

    • @nathansguitars328
      @nathansguitars328  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I love charvels but their frets seem so soft. My dk24 is 3? Years old and has some massive pitting in the frets already. I can't recommend them until they either go stainless steel with the rest of the industry or at least fix their nickel alloy. Could just be bad luck on mine, but even frets aside I think the Ltd 1000 series are better guitars. I would recommend the HSS Floyd rose model over this hardtail personally. Mine is actually for sale on reverb so I can get the Floyd one instead.

    Would you say the JB made a big difference in terms of "sharpening up" the bottom end?

    • @nathansguitars328
      @nathansguitars328  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hard to say. The JB really just fixes my complaint about the mids being scooped from the pegasus. That can give the illusion of a tighter bottom end since mids are far more noticeable now. If you are detuning and playing a lot of bass heavy stuff, check out the Alexi Laiho pickup from EMG. It's passive, but has an EQ boost. It's my favorite pickup for D standard or lower.

    I have a epiphone Les Paul Classic, It worth the upgrade right?

    • @nathansguitars328
      @nathansguitars328  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's very difficult to answer becasue that guitar is so different from this one. I've never played an epiphone I loved, so I'm also not the right person to ask. To me, this LTD is better in every way, but a lot of guitar is personal preference and subjective. Sorry for vauge answer. If I wanted an LP style guitar, it would be an LTD or edwards EC model over any other brand.

    • @nathansguitars328
      @nathansguitars328  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't have a strat anymore to compare, but when I compare it to my Charvel, it's a closer to the bridge on my LTD than the Charvel.
      I have that problem on some guitars too. I don't think it's been a problem on the SN models. I switched to an HSS model SN, and I hit the switch all the time, but never the volume.

    • @nathansguitars328
      @nathansguitars328  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's on par with my other LTD 1000 series (and even E-II). The only flaws are very tiny/minor cosmetic ones. As review mentioned, I did have to do a very small amount of setup on the nut, but otherwise playability was amazing out of the box. From my experience, this guitar and other LTD in the price range/series hold their own against anything on the market. Usually, the only difference between a top end LTD and E-II is minor cosmetic flaws. Thank you for commenting

      @@DevanArya I suspect it would come down to the players hands and style, but for me, anything scalloped above 12 feels amazing and better in every way. In general, your finger isn't "supposed" to touch the fretboard anyways, but it gets really tricky on the high areas. Removing the fretboard allows you to more accurately do things like sweep/tap/fret if you were prone to touching the fretboard to begin with. I don't like frets 1-12 scalloped because chords feel kinda weird at the edges of the fretboard when scalloped.

      @@juanmelgar152 I'm not sure if comment replies allow URL, but try this i.imgur.com/eNmKE5c.jpeg . It's hard to photograph, but the gold in the body is slightly 'glittery'. Very cool effect. It came with Seymour Ducans, but I put some EMG 81x/SAx/SAx in. It's one of my best feeling guitars and is super versatile. I got it from ESP directly on their Reverb. Sometimes they post these prototypes, but they sell super fast because they are usually priced super well too. This was like $700?
