Been watching your vids for the last year and with two failed attempts of trying to convert my old CX and MTB to gravels. Bought my first Gravel bike today and can't wait to ride. your vids are lovely and chilled while being inspiring. thank you
It's cool to see y'all riding MTB! I too am a newbie and am finding it to be a wonderful discovery. For me, it's not about "shredding the gnar", more like trying to tread as lightly and as gracefully as possible. It really is like a dance. Plus, there's an element of skillbuilding, and it's nice to see that progression. And finally, it's a helluva workout!
Great video, I visited Whitefish bike retreat, upon watching your video, this summer. What an awesome place. Whitefish the city is pretty great too, enjoyed 2nd Street Pizza.
I live just down the trail from there! So glad you guys had fun. Beaver Lake doesn't have much public shore access(but good Kokanee fishing), next time try the lake with the same name as a cheap 1980's bike brand. 😉
We have a mountain biking centre in Cannock Chase. Rental bikes, repair centre, been popular for years................no bears!! Keep Safe!. Love from England xx.
I hope to make it up into that area for vacation some time. I will definitely be bringing my Mtn bike, nothing's better than singletrack with gorgeous scenery.
That looks like a nice flowy trail. Downhills are great.....then soon or later you have to go back up. Hahahaha I know the winters get rough but man, Montana has great riding. Thanks for sharing. Atb, Tony
Good stuff. I passed through Whitefish in May of last year after starting a Glacier National Park on my ride home. One day I hope to ride over the Whitefish Divide. Oh, and check out the grav-grav between Lake KooCanUsa and Pipe Creek Valley (N of Libby). You won't need any more hints than that to figure it out.
Get rad... Or get clean?... Why not bolth!!! I like the subtle way you showcase the difference between gravel and mountain biking. I like to receive gravel bikes as road bikes with teeth. I wouldn't do any big down hills on them, but some nice laid back single track is always on the books.
Hey! 46 is _the_ perfect width for my drop bars, wider I just don't feel as comfy. Have a pair of definitely-too-narrow-and-crashed 42's hanging around. That might do the trick. Great vid and great place, anyway. Pity that I'm another continent... :D
Is this the start of your descent into full Enduro Bro? ;-) these trails look awesome- I've never ridden where there are grizzlies, but it sounds like it would keep me pretty alert.
Bear bells are great for bear country. I have one that you can easily turn off or on. Early on my buddy and I would occasionally yell, hey bear. you get tired of that, so a bear bell is easy and not too expensive. Love the video!
Thanks for the video, looks like a fun place to visit... What did you do (buy) to convert the Cutthroat to a flatbar format? I have one and was thinking of doing the same? How do you like it? Thanks
Ah! I was irritated because you could see it’s a wide angle lense but audio is so good. Got an AS50 and has amazing audio. Unfortunately my GoPro 8 has a much better and sharper image. Besides the extremely good stabilization.
Hey Russ, I sort of think putting a bunch of touring bags on a MTB might hinder your mountain biking experience. I'd imagine it affects the steering and handling unfavorably. I understand you needed the bags for your fishing gear, but maybe you could try a few short rides with the MTB naked and make a video on your reaction or include your thoughts on it in your review (if you do one later). Some people might be interested in buying that MTB just for hitting the trails fast and not so much for loading it up with bags so your thoughts on how it rides naked could be very useful. You might enjoy the responsiveness of the MTB without any baggage on slopey trails. At the end of the day though, it's your ride so just ride how you like. Great video!
I agree that even if you're not trying to go fast, a large bag like that might hinder your experience. But it's all about the experience you're trying to have. If you wanna go out to a lake somewhere and go fishing, have a picnic, or make coffee, then having a large bag like that makes perfect sense. Personally, I try to keep things as light as possible so that I can focus on having fun! Unfortunately, this has led me to use a jersey. Those pockets are too damn useful! Otherwise, I have a very small frame bag from Outershell that works great. It's just big enough for spares, tools, an Otto lock, and a couple bars.
Flat bars? Mountain bikes? What is happening to this channel? If flat bar gravel bikes are a thing, does that mean hybrids are cool now?! Mind blown . . .
Looks like an awesome trip. The Kermit-the-Frog style “yaaaaaaay”s whilst going around turns was a nice touch. 😎🤘

After a hard day at the office this video lowered my heart rate. Lovely area. Thanks! ☮
I’m extra sold on visiting this place for sure.

Mountain bikes!...you guys have come so far since the Brompton days.
Whitefish is definitely on my bucket list
Started my 2017 tour there back to Florida. Nice place and the best people
Great vid, looks like lots of fun; thanks for bringing us along!
That trail would be a blast with drop bars!

Love watching you out and having fun on the days I can’t get out!
Just got back from a week in Big Sky...didn't ride bikes, but lot's of hikes and whitewater rafting. Montana is amazing.

Love whitefish bike retreat, cricket and crew, glad to see shot in the video ☺
Enjoying the vibe!
Great video! Love the cabin.
I want to visit white fish! Ice fishing and bike riding.
I need a trip somewhere. Anywhere at this point. Looks like a great place.
This cabin looks awesome 👏
Will have to ride this next time I visit

Sick shots and video dude. Looked like a fun time.

MTB Cribs - Cabin edition!! That’s hilarious, Russ.
Riding, fishing, birding, or... sapsucking? 🤪 I like that you left in those little touches that humanize the riding experience.
Like how Laura is riding point in real bear country.
well. if you pass the bear while riding, then the person in the back is the one in danger.
That Vassago on the wall! You need to get on one.

Those bars are really one upping the crust towel rack
Do you believe it's not that technical so you could have done it with the gravel bikes ?
When will your new caps will be available for sale?
You did get the nod to Picasso didn't you? You kind of zipped past it.
Russ, is this the whitefish trail that passes through beaver lake?
Is this the start of your descent into full Enduro Bro? ;-) these trails look awesome- I've never ridden where there are grizzlies, but it sounds like it would keep me pretty alert.
"you can have your 'coffee outside'!" shameless plug. lol!
Chill music! How do you find and implement this without getting copystrikes or claims i always wondered? Would love to know. :) Cheers!

What do you think of riding on 2.4" tires? (If you've tried them.)
Great for mountain biking.
Nice ☺️
❤️&✌️

Laura posted a vid about it a few days ago.
@@Korina42 Thank you..
Which handlebars is Laura using in this video
She made a vid about it a few days ago.
Soundtrack worryingly sounds like something from a 1970's adult movie 😂
Open Sesame! 😄
Russ which Main camera are you currently using? With external microphone?
Sony action cam.

Man.....I wish I could travel to Montana someday! I like the vibes of this channel

Good timing

Some people just don't care about "fast" in mountainbiking, and thus "responsiveness" bears no relevance to their riding style.

Too much front wheel !
Front bag flap opening = parachute deployed to help wash off extra speed...
MTB cribbs.

After three years of testing weird drop bar cross bikes they realize the best and most supple bike for gravel already exist and called mtb...hahaha
I like mtbs for mountain biking. Still think they suck on gravel roads. Like driving a tractor on the freeway.
