2:23 - Don't you think that's a problem with the HR teams / Hiring Managers? If they're passing up on good talent because their resume isn't catered to fit the visual preferences of *this specific* hiring team?
Of course, since the cards are in the hands of the recruiters and companies, there's nothing we can do about it other than bending to their will, however, It's severely frustrating considering most people that are considered to be the best talent tend to not be the best at catering to formalities and vice-versa.
It makes you wonder how much money bad hiring processes pass up on a yearly basis for mediocrity that fits the 'bill' of entry but may not fit the bill of actual job competency.
Would love to get your opinion on this Urgently Firing...

I 100% agree. Hiring "optimization" through ATS, outsourced HR, etc., has absolutely incentivized companies to lean more into nepotism or the first decent candidate that they find.
It's the same reason why companies spend more money to bring on new hires than they spend to give raises to retain long-term employees.
Doing what works in the long term is complicated and expensive upfront. So companies will often embrace what's cheap and easy in the short term instead (because shareholders).
Unfortunately we have to "play the game" as jobseekers if we want food and shelter, so my aim is to help young adults play the game better. But I completely despise the "game" on a personal level.

Very on point and informative. Just subscribed! Do you recommend customizing your resume for every job post you apply to?

      Thank you so much!
IF you have the time and capacity, then yes. If you're desperate and/or applying to lots of jobs, then no.
I would maintain an up-to-date resume that's tailored for the roles/industry that you're working in or targeting. Layoffs and other unexpected changes can happen that force even established professionals to need a new job fast.
But if you're comfortable where you're at and just trying to make a better change for yourself, then totally! Customizing your resume for a specific job description is one piece of making yourself as competitive a candidate as possible.
