Awkward question, what does someone do when they never went to school but have mediocre skill levels and are looking for a job. I can’t boost up my skills on paper and I know I can always improve but when you need the job now and you didn’t do college and live in a smaller city what would you recommend??

I love all of these tips but one thing that frustrates me is that every career coach type youtuber always gives the same advice and it just doesn't apply to people like me. They all say to add figures/numbers/stats and I'm an administrative assistant. I DON'T HAVE that type of info to include in my resume. There were no sales, no increased profits, no projects, etc. And the types of jobs I'm applying to aren't looking for things like that, they're looking for what I've done. Can you please make a video for people in my situation where the whole resume is basically a list of job duties? I really needs some guidance on how to make those bullet points sound better, be more concise, be more coherent, all of that. Thank you so much for all that you do!

What do you do as administrative assistant? Do you send two to seven emails per day? Do you draft, edit and send 5 to 10 emails per day?
Do you update financial reports for each of the staff or customers? How many?
Do you manage the schedules of Staff members? How many?
Do you plan and manage any events? How many per month?
In my experience of being an administrative assistant, there is always something that is quantifiable.

I'm so glad that my current resume follows almost all your points! It's a killer resume and has received many compliments by job advisors and recruiters. It's bright and eye catching but very clear to read (I'm an illustrator so I believe it should have some creative flare)
One thing I dropped from the working experience section is the exact dates/months of each experience. As a creative alot of jobs were contract based or just wouldn't work out very well, so I had to quit. Resulting in having months-long gaps in my resume where I was unemployed. It attracted attention in many interviews, were I had to explain myself and say that I worked as freelancer in between, so the recruiter wouldn't think that I drop jobs all the time, when in reality I wasn't.
So now I only have the year and all the experience, projects etc I've done within the year as independent sections. Seems to work quite well as no one has questioned me since and it looks very nicely organised and full.

At 43 with a multitude of career experiences due to the popularity of corporate layoffs and preferential high turn over company policies, i find this video useless. I dream of the day when companies apply to people for help. Instead of eliminating hiring managers and recruiters in favor of AI. Getting a job in the last 15 years is complete BS.

Great video! I purchased that complete guide! One question is around the 1 page. I’ve had over 12 years of experience and 6 roles, near impossible to fit on one page. Is a second page okay in this situation?

Great advice! I'm currently doing my work term at the end of my education to graduate and I'll be job hunting for my permanent position in June. I'll have to come back to this later and prepare my stuff! I definitely committed the sin of sending out the same resume to everyone when searching for the work term 😅 So far I've interviewed with 3 places and they all wanted me, but none were the generic resume put out on Indeed, so point definitely taken. My interviews all came from finding out about an opportunity some other way and contacting them directly.

I have recently found your channel and it has been super helpful. I have been looking for more of a long term career and it has proven to be a bit harder than I had though. I loved the tips in this video and I'm going to give my resume a makover. I'm hoping with your tips that I can find my "forever" job and finally find the perfect fit.

Almost 50 here in a new state and finding it "impossible" to get an interview, my resume style was from college 3/4 a lifetime ago...and so pondered on how to update what is pretty good but could be better and adaptable to the ATS systems... It just needs a shuffle!not a whole dance mind you, just a shuffle, and will give it a go... let's see how it works. will be back to tell the story

I have an insane design on my CV, and probably more information than it should have, I will simplify it and follow your advice, I saw 2 more videos before this one, but I think you're giving the best tips! My native language is Spanish but I want to do it in Spanish and English, so I will download grammarly, and then ask some native English speaker to check it out because I don't know how good grammarly really is for someone who is not native in a language haha! Thanks for the tips!

@AdviceWithErin Hey Erin! Thanks so much for this video. You had said in the video that the templates you have are free but I can't find it. The link of the "How to Make a Really Good Resume" on your website with the resume template says it costs money. Am I mistaking a different template that you are describing?

@AdviceWithErin Question about quantifying, like you mention at 13:18 what if I don't want to continue working at that capacity? For example, I see up to 18 clients/day in my current job and I would like to reduce that number a little. How do I quantify without making it out like the employer or myself are expecting a similar client load?
