    One of the most overlooked bands of the 80s, they were amazing musicians.

    Brian Setzer brought back 2 music genres back from the dead, Rockabilly and Big Band Swing........truly a American legend

    The Stray Cats were sort of a Rock-A-Billy revival in the early 80's. Their style is very similar to that of artists from yesteryear, like Gene Vincent and Eddie Cochrane. Rumble in Brighton, Gene and Eddie, and Sexy and Seventeen are some of their more popular songs.

    Guitarist & lead singer Brian Setzer tours every fall and winter doing a Christmas show. Hopefully he'll be able to do so again this year. "Rock This Town" was their biggest hit.

    That is an Upright Base. They were a rock-a-billy band. The lead singer, Brian Setzer has a new band that plays big band era songs..ya know the type, the swing and lindy dancing music.

  • @BlackiePawless
    @BlackiePawless 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    That instrument is an upright bass. Sometimes called double bass and in rockabilly/country circles called doghouse bass. Their other big radio records were Sexy & 17 and also Rock This Town. Another killer rocker is Rumble In Brighton. A great great ballad is I Wont Stand In Your Way. 20 year old kids in 80-81 reviving late 50s sounds and look.

  • @JensRandolff

    I grew up on Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran, Stray Cats, and other Rock-A-Billy bands. I had the hair, the cloth, just could never pull off the dancing. Lol. Great memories of better days.

    If you want to fast forward to more recent history, Brian Seltzer has been touring for years with a big band of horns, a lot of swing and his rockabilly guitar, very top notch performances, and in any live video he always looks like he's enjoying life more than anybody in the world

    Another Stray Cats song you might enjoy reacting to is "Rock This Town".
    The lead singer/guitarist is called Brian Setzer who would go on to form the Brian Setzer Orchestra (BSO) - The BSO cover of the old Louis Prima classic "Jump, Jive and Wail" is fantastic.

    Etta James’ cover of Woody Guthrie’s song Let’s burn down the cornfield is so good. Something her voice does in that song sends shivers up my spine in the best way. If you listen to woody guthrie’s first, it’s even more clear how much she brings to it. :)
