Thanks. Just bought my first Subaru! 2019 Forester, so this helped a lot. I have watched quite a few of your videos, and all of them helped convince me that I was making the right choice.

Find it frustrating that we have to "pair" twice to the car to get the full function of the IOS device. What's the point of Bluetooth if I then have to plug my cable in too? One or the other but not both. As advanced as these vehicles are, one should not have to do this. Seems as if the engineering is incomplete for this. Again, we have a phone sitting around and another cable in the way. The armrest storage would be a great place to plug in the phone and run it from there, out of the way. Also, unfortunately, in the Impreza, there is only a 12VDC outlet and not an Infotainment connected USB in the box.
As for your review of the features, thank you for putting in the time and letting us know some of the tricks of usage.

Hey there, just want to let you know that companies now offer “wireless Apple CarPlay” that will help you relieve your concerns. The small device simply plugs into your cars USB then connects to your phone automatically & wirelessly! The functionality is the exact same as if the phone was plugged in. They’re around $100-200 each but the convenience may be worth the cost! Hope you’re doing well, Subi fam!

2020 Forester owner here. You CANNOT use Apple CarPlay wirelessly with this vehicle, YOU HAVE TO BE PLUGGED IN. Only 2023 and newer support wireless CarPlay. I’ve watched so many videos and tried different things to do it wirelessly but can’t. If this is incorrect and anyone knows a way, please share!!!

Recently I have purchased Subaru Forester 2021. Love the car.
I have problem in connecting USB drive and apple car play together. When I plug in my iphone with cable, USB drive gets disconnected :(. Anyone seeing the same issue?

Doesn’t detail cable needed for compatibility. And could use a suggestion as to where to get such cable.

I have a 19 outback and since the last iOS update it now take 4 minutes before the CarPlay icon shows up. So these are my issue and things I don’t like.
    1. Multitouch works in nav unit, but not in CarPlay
    2. Software update OTA or WiFi still isn’t working
    3. The stereo has WiFi, but not able to do CarPlay with Bluetooth or WiFi.
    4. Delay in CarPlay icon showing up.
Thinking I would have been better getting the non-nav deck and buying a pioneer. To bad, I thought the stereo issues with Subaru was mostly fixed compared to my 2011 outback, and 2013 legacy (also nav units). The new deck is catching up, but software updates and support is definitely missing on Subaru’s part for the cost.

Big problem we have is I have an android. My wife has an iphone. When I am driving and want to use android auto the radio only will switch to carplay. My wife wants to use her phone and charge it. I want to use android auto. The car always uses carplay over android.

This may be a dumb question, but do I need to have an APPLE phone to use APPLE CAR PLAY? I currently have a SAMSUNG GALAXY S7. The TOM TOM Nav system on my 2020 FORESTER is terrible, so I would love to be able to use GOOGLE MAPS

Question - I’m using an Anker charging cord for a iPhone 7+, plugged into the 1.2 USB port for CarPlay and the charge is soooo slow. Anker cords are fantastic using wall outlets. Anyone else have this issue?

I keep a Mophie always with mine it gives 4 hours of a charge pretty fast. I bought mine at a T-Mobile. Always make sure you charge your Mophie before your trip. Then you can charge your phone without help from car.

Question on my one day old Outback premium. Can you use Apple Car Play when parked up and the engine is not running? Same question for radio? And, while I'm at it, what's an easy way to turn off the radio without turning off the whole infotainment system? Life-saving videos, so thank you

We just got a 2021 Ascent today. I noticed that if you push the engine start button without putting your foot on the break it turns on the electronics of the vehicle without starting the engine.

I am frustrated with the head unit in my 18 outback: it can't read/display CD data (e.g, track titles) on most of my CDs. This is a fundamental need and I am amazed it has not been corrected.
