    Thanks for the video, our shop manual said engine removal was necessary. You saved us time and the customer money.

      Paul Kafka yeah that’s why the dealer charges so much. They charge for engine removal and reinstall but do it exactly the way this guy does it.

    For those complaining about a lack of narrative - go to www.toyotanation.com - 3rd Gen Avalon section and do search for posts with water pump in title. Also look in 2nd Gen Highlander section - doing same search.

    That is very interesting. I'm curious how many hours you clocked for this job.
    For some strange reason my books at work call for 23 or 24 hours for that.

    Great video ! Thank You ! If you an provide a future video on removing the serpentine belt tensioner the would be much appreciated. I'm having trouble on how to go about it. From the manual it says to remove the front bumper, coolant inlet and outlet hose, radiator fan shroud, radiator, alternator and ac compressor. Do you think it's possible just to only remove the radiator fan shroud and top inlet coolant hose so it gives me enough room to remove the alternator ? As for the ac compressor I suppose I can just unbolt the 4 bolts and hang it up by the ac hoses instead of removing it entirely. That should give me enough room to at least reach the tensioner behind it. I want to avoid removing the ac hoses because don't want to discharge the refrigerant. Any feedback let me know. Thanks again.

      You probably already figured it out but if you haven't, Notice what he did at 2:44. That's all you need to do. You will need to remove the splash guard to get access to the tensioner. You don't need to disconnect your compressor lines.

      mannypeligroso For future reference, the tensioner bolt itself is actually reverse threaded so you can take just the pulley off for better access.

    if you work in the shop this way better if you work at home loose bottom mount nut jack the engine up and play with the uuper mount bolts . depen where work , at home you dont need to replace pulley , but it take longer when you on flag rate

    • @kamsornthan5985

      Mobile AutoMD have to removed crank pulley first if the crank pulley doesn't come stop don't go any further spay with w240 drive for a couple of day before attemp to remove

    • @crcdesign9886
      @crcdesign9886 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      My only question was why they're showing 13hrs labor to replace the water pump on this. We have a full shop here. Not worried about removing the harmonic balancer..we just don't want to charge a customer so much because it even seems outrageous to us.

    I did the same job from above the engine. I didn't have to remove the crank pulley which is hard not impossible without air tool. I could blip the engine to undo the crank pulley but didn't have to when working from above looking down at the engine. I remove the right engine mount at the subframe and the wish bone engine mount above then jack the engine up at the OIL PAN WITH A LARGE PIECE OF WOOD then work my way down to the water pump. Hardest part is the engine bracket when taking the bolts out, you will need to play with the jack a little slowly jacking or dropping the engine so the bolt is level to the body and pull them out one by one. The whole job took my one day from morning to night. This one is way harder then my 99 Nissan Altima.

      what do you mean blip the engine? I tried removing it but it , but was turning the more pressure I applied did I throw off rimming u think??

      M T7 he means bump the starter(crank car slightly) while you have the bolt held with a breaker bar and matching socket assuming vehicle has a clockwise crank rotation

      Do not use the oil pan to lift engine (or the car for that matter). This tends to be a weaker metal and is dangerous. Consult the car's official service guide for more details. Only use specified lift points and multiple safety backups.
