Dear Anna, I have been enjoying your company in my sewing room for several years. I have wanted a sit down quilting machine for a few years now and have been test driving them at quilt shows. I just could not spend five thousand or more. I do mostly applique by machine and use my standard size Bernina. Not so easy when I am quilting larger wallhangings. Last summer I got a facebook advertisement for a Grace Company machine called the Little Rebel and the Cutie frame. The machine was not on the market yet and i waited until December to receive it. Pre-priced at a little over three thousand with the Cutie frame. Thought I would take a chance getting it since Grace had a return policy. I have to say the machine is really nice, It is both a sit down machine with a large tray and a foot petal and also a small longarm used on the Cutie. It is also a straight sitich sewing machine that can be used for piecing or any other straight stitch sewing. I really like to use it with the Cutie and have quilted seven tops so far. Leah Day has a great youtube on the machine.
Handwork for retreat. In Dec I attended a 4 day retreat and took only my 40” x 68” Kawandi project. I carried all in one basket - started Kawandi, fabric, threads, scissors, pins. So nice not dragging a lot of equipment along! Of course I took half my sewing room to my March retreat. 🤣. Hugs!
I’m IN on the QAL…received book, finished a quilt and now have the empty project box, two charm packs and am now on the hunt for the fabric! My minds eye can see that quilt hung over the back of my sofa (next year)!
I’ve already made the cream and sugar quilt. Done in the neutrals, but when you said you were going to do it I dug out my book and decided to make another as one of my grandsons claimed the first. I found a very soft blue floral print and am going to use this as a focal fabric and add soft greens and browns on a Kona Snow background.cut out the first blocks this am.
So interesting about your BOM re-igniting those thought processes you haven't exercised for some time. I feel the same way. It's been a long time since I've done a traditional quilt block either by machine or by hand. Recently, I began working on a hand pieced block and it took awhile to re-find my rhythm; at first it felt awkward. Plus having to cut precisely! Absolutely love your neutrals wool applique quilt - it is stuning! Take care :)
I have this quilt kit in the cream and sugar fabric that I got from The Fat Quarter Shop when it first came out. You have fired me up to get this quilt going. I opened the box and have no idea why I haven't started it before now. I will be right there with you on this.
Thank you Anna. I love the 9patch sashed quilt that was behind you. ❤️ Its magpies that eat the seeds in my garden. Oh well they are hungry too. See you next time. X
It's always so fun to hang out with you! I am so excited that you are coming to May's, Mid Valley Quilt Guild in Salem. Perhaps you will be doing a sit-n-stitch after the morning meeting, that would be awesome! 🤗
Just found you and I feel like your friend already. Hope to meet maybe at Sisters. Thank you for sharing your projects. Enjoy your channel. Keep going and have a great rest of the summer.
Just wanted to let you know you are an 'ENABLER" . I had to buy Heirloom Roses pattern after seeing you show it several time. I finally caved and got the pattern. Now I am trying to decide if I am going to do it in the neutrals, or with bolder fabrics. I am not really a neutral person but yours is just so lovely. I have my background fabric, SF101 (again, enabler) and many varied scraps. If I go neutral I will have to buy wool (oh no, buy fabric). I am joining in the fun. I love the wool applique too. I still work so I just don't seem to have the time to do all my crafts. Also, I went to Sew Yeah in Las Vegas last week after hearing you talk about it. Great people and beautiful shop. Headed to Paducah later this month so I did behave myself. Always enjoying chatting with you, even if you can't hear me talking back. Enjoy your adventures.
My husband always used toilet rolls for growing runner beans. Otherwise we tear them up and add them to the mini kitchen compost bin (with veg and fruit peelings etc - emptied daily!) which ends up in the garden compost bin. Can't bear waste🙂. We've had better weather over this Easter so far. The spring flowers looked lovely when decorated in church covering the cross that stands outside for the remainder of the day. It was our daughter's birthday so I only did some knitting yesterday evening - so tired! Good plans what to take to Retreat. I don't blame you not wanting to traipse in with the machine and cables etc. You'll enjoy yourself anyway😊
Great choice on both wool appliqué projects to take to retreat. I love them both. That is such a relaxing type of stitching that you can easily do while visiting. Hope you enjoyed the time in your garden. Until next time …. ❤
Hi Anna! Thanks for your thoughts on long arm vs sit down. I’ve been thinking about this for months! 😂 Also, I’ve been quilting for 15 yrs and NEVER joined a QAL or BOM (mostly because I like PRECISE fabric usage planning… but anyway). This yr I’ve joined one of both. And YES! The cutting and piecing 1 block at a time is a challenge. 😂 But, it’s a new challenge. Love your videos! ❤😍
Have a good time Anna! I'm going to Klamath Falls on April 12th. Am I going to the Tater Patch in Merrill? You betcha! Sometimes I bring hand sewing. Machine stays home. I haven't decided yet for this trip. Thank you for the toilet paper roll seed trick. Yard work abounds! Take care. Marion I. Gresham.
If I ever make it out there to meet you at a retreat I will not be bringing one of my sixteen vintage sewing machines. Bonnie Hunter tells about how one of her featherweights was destroyed because she had to check it when the overhead bins were full. Anyway, we have plenty of handwork to keep us busy, whether applique, EPP or cross stitch.
Good morning, you are the best you tuber to visit to start my day!!! Quilting and cross stitching are my two hobbies. Love the idea of toilet paper for seeds. Was there a video? Thank you for starting my day on a positive note and motivational. Love you Anna💞
I have a Janome QuiltMaker Pro 18 Versa Sit Down long arm. It’s an actual long arm. No feed dogs like a mid arm. I bought the extension sides which gives me a generous workspace. It’s wonderful for my space. I did consider the long arm on frame but it takes up more space than I want to use. At some point I can convert but for now it’s a lot of fun! I love your channel and have followed a few years. Thank you for the work you do. It’s sure improves my life. ❤
Love that quilt top with the bird appliques! I don't remember that one LOL. I'm busy getting together a bunch of my quilts and friends quilts for a presentation on quilts from A to Z at a local library. I hope to inspire some young quilters to jump on board this creative train. Good think you are getting your feet wet again with all that piecing on the block of the month because, I hate to admit but I found piecing the Tree Blocks challenging as there was alot of letters and side one or side two, etc. It had been a while since I did something like that so I was sooooo glad Scott was there to help me because I was scratching my head at times. It all worked out and the blocks are glorious. LOL. Well it's treat time at the Yoo house so I have alot of kitty treats to distribute. Hugs from NE Ohio.
Your wool projects are gorgeous! It’s going to be so great to get closer to the finish line on the PG wool flowers! Retreats are so much fun and so inspiring. Wish I could be out working in my flower beds right now, it’s going to be awhile for my area. Take care!
Anna I know you don't do tutorials anymore but sometime I would like for you to show us how you make the quilt backs larger. I have watched your tutorials before and you do such an awesome job of explaining that I always get it when I see you do it. Would love to see your little garden and when you plant your toilet paper rolls. Your hands stitching is impeccable.
At this point in my life I no longer want challenges, been there done that. Now it’s time( for me) to just relax and enjoy! 😮 I’m happy to watch you push yourself 😅. I always take a book with me for down time, otherwise I would be up 23/7 stitching on and come home so tired I can’t move.😂. Have fun.❤❤❤
As usual, I didn't want this visit to end. :) I loved the stitch a little, talk a little, stitch a little process today. I'm looking forward to seeing that Heirloom Rose quilt finished. Your blocks are just so beautiful!
Love your April blocks from the Cream & Sugar book. Don’t think I ever ordered that book. May have to throw one in my cart. Always the enabler Anna. Your wool stitching is amazing! Love seeing them. Take care.
Hi Anna! I’m almost done all of the 9 flower blocks your background convinced me to buy! Now I have to decide if I am going to tackle all of the borders too. I’m curious to see what you do! Enjoy your retreat! Linda@quiltfull
Oh Anna I have drooled over that beige and black wool quilt of yours for ages! It is so beautiful and with all the Sue Spargo stitching it is perfection! Hope you finish it so I can drool some more❤
I watched that gardening reel too! Thought it was a great use of the empty rolls. We are doing our spring planting here in East Texas. I think I will join you for the Cream & Sugar,,,going to do red & white! Have a good day😊
I love that Heirloom Rose Quilt by Primitive Gatherings. It’s so beautiful and your stitching is lovely. I’m sure you can get it done! Have fun at your retreat!
Dear Anna, hope your seeds will turn to a good harvest. I truely love the heirloom rose quilt and I admire you for getting this done each time you show the blocke. It is so amazing beautiful. Is it manageable for a wool stitching beginner????
Last time you went on a retreat and didn’t take a sewing machine didn’t you end up with fomo and using Robin’s machine? 😂 (Note: I can’t remember what I wanted when I got upstairs, but I remember your sewing machine dilemma!) 😮 Enjoy your time in the beehive today.
Wow I m SOOO glad you’re sewing ! Although I love cross stitch I an NOT good at doing it …but I love seeing it.i still have your older videos.food for thought for you have you ever thought of making a cross stitch beginner video you have a way of making it less intimidating …love you Anna👩🏻🎨🐑
Hi Anna! You certainly made my day again! It was super cool to meet my favorite TH-camr in the parking lot at Hobby Lobby. You are as sweet as you are on TH-cam! Sandy (not Sue...LOL)
I am subscribed and have the bell clicked but for some reason I do not get notifications. I watch the Quilt Roadies videos every day. So many times I would like to comment. I feel left out.
Hi I love your quilts I'm getting lazy too I know this don't contain to quilt but where do you get your wash away stableiser for embroidery quilts thanks from Indiana

There was on Instagram 😁
We have a retreat coming up this weekend. I should take handwork. It would sure eliminate a lot of packing.
So nice you’re going into the vault and getting those finished. They are beautiful.😊
I think so too!❤️🎉
Love the quilt with the birds.
Your embroidery is so perfect!
We had 6" of snow yesterday here in WI.

So weird but I got this comment…thank you for hanging out with me😁
We're still in the single digits. I save the toilet paper and paper towel rods for fire starter for our wood stove.
Wow!!!
Well hallelujah! I finally know why I collected toilet tissue cardboards. 🤪
😂😂😂
Anna,I was wondering what your thoughts were on the use of Elmers glue when layering a quilt.
Hummm danger Will Robinson Danger
I missed you!!! where have I been?
Quilting😁
Did you ever get your white trees on the blue background finished?
I did🎉🎉🎉🎉
How did your sale of your sweet 16 go and how did you sell it example? Maybe through craigslist.
No I passed it on to a dear friend who does an amazing amount of charity quilts and an occasional quilt for me🙏❤️
My thread is going to escape some night and tie me up in a bundle.
