    12:24 BURLESON hasn’t done enough?? But we’re talking about Gorman needing to play? Gorman finished the year striking out in the minors, idk why we’re magically so high on him just because the team plans on him replacing Arenado

      Kareem needs to stick to grading minor leaguers and hating on Siani lol. In no world should Burleson get swept to the side. Gorman actually stinks so why is this even a debate? Burleson is better than Walker, Gorman and any other young guy they expect to take a step

      Burleson finished the year slightly above league average offensively after crashing in the second half. Is probably a first baseman long term so his bat has to be much better to find that value. He also struggled as a rookie and was 12% below league average.
      Gorm, on the other hand, is one year removed from being 18% above league average at the plate, can play second and third, and was 5% above league average as a rookie.
      Yes burley is coming off the better year but it’s not hard to see why they see more potential in Gorm

      @@DealinTheCards cardinal fans love splitting the season in half, why can’t we just pretend Burly was first half Burly😂 just saying I don’t see why Gorman is getting talked about like a high end prospect. I loved Sandy’s point of hey it could just not work out for him. You guys are my main cardinals pod so don’t take my frustrations as hate lol

    The point of 2025 is to find out if Gorman can perform as an everyday player at 3B for the entire year. You have to find out in order to move into 2026 and the 1st year of Bloom knowing what you have.

    Everyone needs to forget what the Cardinals used to be. We needed to increase the coaching intelligence. We did that. The future now has possibilities.

    Yeah, and you're relying on a rookie C with a weak arm keeping a staff steady with Pallante & McGreavy as 40% of their rotation.

    Let's not go overboard with the doom and gloom over Gorman. I am willing to wait and see how working with Brant Brown over the off-season will help him overcome his offensive deficiencies, ie 40% strikeout rate, and pitch recognition (as with Walker). As for defense, he is a natural third baseman. He has already shown he will be adequate (filling in for Arenado), although not near the skill level as Arenado.

    The Cards should keep Arenado if Boston wants us to eat a bunch of his contract.
    Yes he did have a bad year in 2024 but most of that decline was in the period before the All Star break in early July. His offense returned to normal in the period after the ASG break. He finished with a 272 BA, 16 HR’s and 71 RBI’s which is a decent rebound from a dismal first half. He played in 153 games last year so his durability is not badly impaired. If we need to sit him down another 15 games, why not do it against pitchers who have had success against him?
    His defense remained excellent and among the best 3B in MLB. His HR’s were way down at 16 but if evaluated for half a season it was slightly above his career average of 30. I don’t know whether he was trying unsuccessfully to change his swing plane, or playing hurt during the first half of the season or if his decline was due to the fact that the Cardinals played their first half of 2024 against a lot of very strong teams. Maybe a combo of all of these. Regardless, it doesn’t appear that he is in a serious decline at age 33. I think it would be foolish for the Cardinals to eat any of his salary when there isn’t another third baseman in MLB with his all around offense and defensive prowess. His pay is high based on his offense last year but not when considering his age and his career stats.
    For example, Alex Bregman is looking for a $200 million contract and his offense last year was 269 batting average with 24 home runs which is about his average (6 lower than Arenado). Who else is out there with Arenado’s capabilities? No one to my knowledge.
    I understand DeWitt’s urgency in dumping payroll because of his bad investments, but if he can’t get Arenado’s value, we should keep him and bet that his offense bounces back. If it does - which is a fairly safe bet considering his career stats and after seeing Goldy have an MVP season at age 34, making him a trade chip in the middle of next season would probably be much better for the Cards balance sheet even though it will totally trash our chances of moving up in the standings as well as at the gate.
    I sure hope this isn’t another example of Moz shooting himself in the foot like he did with Hicks, Edman and O’Neil by announcing his urgent wish to dump a player. That’s a real dumb business move for someone with his supposed business savvy.

    • @jackiemoon5906
      @jackiemoon5906 15 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Arenado was always going to solely be a salary dump. Cards never intended on getting anything back for him but salary relief. They’ll be eating $15 mil and still get nothing back

    I disagree. I think Gibson needs to be back since he was the one that taught Pallante to throw a good bullpen and prepare better. I think he is the mentor that the Cardinals need until the minor league coaches can train young pitchers the correct way. I think Gibson is part of the rebuild/retool. Kittridge coming back is okay since I think he was a stabilizing force and could train the younger guys.
    I want the rebuild over the first round playoff exit. I am okay with Helsley and Fedde being traded for talent. I am fine with Matz and Arenado going as salary dumps. I hope that Bloom has the money and ability to sign some free agents to trade at the deadline or sign multi-year deals on rehabbing pitchers like Jocketty did with Chris Carpenter.

    Failure and John Mozeliak go hand and hand. There’s also the fact that this trade is more about saving the DeWitts money than actually creating opportunity for young players.
    They can’t find a trade because the DeWitts won’t foot the bill for most of Arenado’s salary.
    A dysfunctional organization through and through.

    I dont think you know Chaim Bloom. He will be over matched, indecisive and tentative with his moves. He picks average players and waits too long to get a good deal. He was dumped in Tampa and booted from Boston. You think your last GM was bad. He will be viewed as the greatest GM ever compared to Bloom. Wait until the trade deadline when he is to indecisive to know if he should trade a piece for someone and he worries how will be be viewed after the trade. Plus he is a ownership puppet. He was horrible here. This team only improved its minor league system because its been so bad under Blooms watch so they picked in the top 12 a few years concurrent just about with one good year in between. Their failure got them the players not Bloom. Good luck with him. You dont know how bad its going to get.

      @@DealinTheCards Yes one fluke year sandwiched between last place finishes. The year they went to the playoffs Bloom didn't do much for them at the deadline. They got Kyle Schwarber but nothing else. Only Hansel Robles pitching wise and another small move I believe. The GM did nothing and Schwarber wasn't current Schwarber. He was just coming back into prominence, so he wasn't seen as a major move. And he was gone after that. But this was a knock seen with Blooms deadline deals which he never did much for the Sox. He is tentative and second guesses himself. It was said by other people in the organization and out of it also. Especially people who worked with him or near him.

      @@TheEWFX29except he wasn’t “dumped” from Tampa. He was hired away with a promotion. You sound like the Boston version of ridiculous Cardinal fans that don’t know anything about behind the scenes yet act as if they were in the room while the calls were being made with the dogmatic ways they spout brain dead opinions. Maybe Bloom winds up a bust, but the things you listed are anecdotal and perspectively biased. He was dealt a tough hand in Boston right out of the gate. He built an incredible farm system, yes with early picks, but you have to HIT on those picks either way.

    • @TheEWFX29
      @TheEWFX29 17 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @@Samir-3737 He wasn't retained in Tampa and they never wanted compensation and I dont think they even mentioned him again. Tampa wasn't sad on losing him and continued fine without him. The Sox picked him up with no fanfare and without much positive or any press in fact. No one had heard of him and we discovered why. He did nothing for this team. He was tentative with every move and constantly second guessed himself. That was a knock in Tampa for him and it was shown to be that way in Boston. It was no secret that he was constantly worrying about what to do and if it was a mistake. So nothing happened here. He basically was a stooge for ownership being their lackey moving on from players and getting nothing in return. He had high picks because his teams all finished last place but for one fluke year where they made the ALCS but he made no moves at the deadline to strengthen the team. He constantly got nothing in returns. Did nothing to improve the club and was out the first chance they had to replace him. No one in New England was sad to see him go and its laughable that St Louis hired him. But that tells me St Louis is about to blow up that team and they are going to get him to be a fall guy for the team before he is dumped in 4-5 years. He is in way over his head. If you dont have a system in place to evaluate talent you will totally be up shits creek in the next 5 years. Know nothing? What the hell do you know about the clown? You probably only heard his name from goof ball TH-cam hosts who only read news and regurgitate it back up. He was a horrible leader who did nothing here and is not missed in the least. He will be a failure there unless you like a boring team that doesn't win or have any appealing players. You will pick up all kinds of reclamation projects and last chance players. In 5-6 years when St Louis is a 4th-5th place team dont complain about the owners or the team because you wanted Bloom and you will see his work close up and i dont think you will like it, lol. He didn't build anything here. Theo Epstein built a state of the art minor league system that has constantly found great players in the draft over the years. He had no team he brought in and didn't have anyone who left with him. The minor leagues were built by the scouting and international teams that have built the Red Sox the last 20 years or so. That is why we have young groups of players to build 4 championship teams this last quarter century. Where are all the people loyal to him and leaving with him going to St Louis. There isnt any because no one follows him, he is led to do the bidding of the owner. I dont know what you are seeing but it isnt anything he did. So be a little mindless sheep doing what you heard the cheerleaders over there saying great things about him. But you are already showing your lack of knowledge and history to believe the prepared shit they write to keep you buying tickets and buying the video service your team peddles to watch. Its a joke you think it will be great with him. You both deserve each other. If you think your team is bad you haven't seen anything yet, lol.
