Nice chord progressions and arrangement. Its difficult to update an old song like this that has been played millions of times. Richard refreshes it. Great job.

Another great rendition. As a amateur guitar player, it’s music not only to listen to, but to watch intently. And then rewatch. Bravo Mr Smith😊❤️

Un véritable régal. Quelle finesse et quelle aisance. Merci Richard.

Man this guy can bring a tear to my eye when he plays. So much soul and effort put into Richards playing.

I've been on a fingerstyle binge for about 2 years now after discovering chet atkins' music, and I've got to say in my personal opinion this is one of the best performances in the genre. The technicality and finesse are phenomenal. I could listen to this or the rest of my life and never get bored. At first, I thought learning fingerstyle guitar was going to be frustrating, but it was the greatest decision I ever made. I couldn't be happier in life knowing there's so much more to learn!

Love the allusion at the close, to “Blackbird singing in the dead of night.” Which is to say Sir Paul would love this rendition. As would Chet himself, who first thought of that 'quote.' I love knowing that a nine-year-old Richard Smith got to play a song or two with him when Chet visited England. My own musical father -- who had to endure a lot of “Bye Bye Blackburn” [correct] when he was about that same age in the 1920s - Dad would have loved this too.
The trick for virtuoso artists is to keep playing variations - where each one is better than the last. Mission accomplished, especially beginning with the perfect key change, at around the 2:20 mark. Thanks, Richard Smith for the retire-the-trophy reading of this great old song.
Celebrated elsewhere this day [search] " Great Melody, Great Lyric, Great Rendition, Songwriting Workshop, Harmony Central "

Very Chet-like rendition of one of his great songs. Never get tired of hearing it. Richard has been duplicating a lot of Chet's stuff (even to the amazement of Chet himself) since he was age 11.

Great performance! Truly one of the best written songs. Mini guitar players are too cute with this in my humble opinion. Your rendition is so full and full of melancholy as it was intended

His playing simply doesn't have the wit or charm of John James playing The Black and White Rag 50 years ago. q.v. on TH-cam.
