I took that as Rubin realizing that Weinstein was no longer one of the Kewl Kidz and worrying that he’d also be shunned for having him on his show. These people are still in junior high and it’s very important to not associate with losers.

When I got the impression from the press that he was a skilled programmer/engineer/something running a tech company I didn't see any need to question the narrative, and Tesla was doing good things like solving issues with South Australia's power grid. I didn't suspect there was anything wrong with the guy until his bizarre behaviour during the Thai cave rescue, and obviously it's all been downhill from there. I think a lot of people would have been in the same boat.

@@gagaplex An awful lot of his net worth is tied up in Tesla stocks, stocks which have always been massively inflated but started tanking as he's ruining all the façade he built up over the last 15 years and as all other car manufacturers are finally ramping up their EV production. He also owes large amounts of money over the Twitter purchase (a company which he has very clearly torpedoed beyond saving at this point) and things are starting to look not so great for SpaceX.
I think there's a real possibility that he goes bankrupt.
