I use a sand base and have never had a problem. And its great at creating a buffer for anything that might Puncture the liner to sink into. When I used to just put it on compact soil even the tiniest little twig would try to muscle thorough the liner.
I have the exact same pool & love it. Your videos help so much. I am wanting to install a safety or barrier fence around the top of the pool to add height so my Labradors quit jumping into the pool over the sides. Do you think that will work on this pool? Since the steel siding rode's aren't straight up & down, they slant out.
Ugh, a couple of the polls around one side of my pool are leaning towards the deeper end (started out about 2 inches unlevel and now it’s like 4 to 5 inches unlevel, but the polls are leaning towards the deep end…. Every time I get in, I think to myself is today going to be the day that it collapses and shoots me out the side.
Thanks for the tips. When spreading the base out I stand in the middle and push out the bottom edges using a 15' extension pole with a small brush on one end. Just be sure not to push too hard or you might puncture your liner. 😮
PS. My first year I use playground mulch as a base but it still punctured the liner after that I used foam board it was expensive but it was a one-time purchase and well worth the price
Thank you . May I ask. What’s the point of pea granite, because if the soil is soft, maybe even due to heavy rain, won’t the pool still sink? I’m thinking planks of timber and then a layer of foam or something else before the pool liner ? Because concrete is too expensive . Thank you 🙏
Hi Dale, new subscriber here. We just got this pool from Costco recently and your videos have been a big help. Question about the solar cover you linked. The Costco pool is oval and I noticed the cover is rectangular. What size did you get and was it easy enough to cut to size? Any tips?
I like the ladder in pool, it also helps if any little kid or animal falls in pool they have something to climb on.
Nice video.
We use foam as a base under pool
Very soft
About 1 to 1.5 cm thick hard foam
Will prevent holes

Have you found a good fence?

I stumbled across your channel because I just bought one and I must say your videos are very helpful and you got a new subscriber!! Thank you
Thank you!!
Thanks for the tips.

Good tip 👍
Yeah we don’t have enough warm days to even start this process lol. I had a smaller 1 like this in my old house, it wasn’t used much.

Hey Dale, have you considered putting the pool on foamboard? What's your opinion?
I once used that that black fabric it stuck to bottom of my couldn't take it off ruiny pool
Thank you for your reply. What I mean is it’s role in preventing sinking of the soil. Or am I over thinking it?
I don’t use it for that. If preventing sinking was the goal, I think you’d need a lot thicker base layer
Thanks. What do you mean by a thicker base. I thought it’s just the ground/soil?

Pea gravel works well for me because it’s not sharp and offers some drainage, but there are other good options too
My corners keep shifting causing the walls to lean. Any tips to correct this?

Measure the length and width of the top of your pool and order a cover slightly larger. They are super simple to trim with some good scissors.
Can you link the gravel you used? Thank you Dale
I got the pea gravel from a local landscape company
My husband skipped this😮
😬 I’m sure y’all will get it
Same here, total nightmare
