Auction Car Nightmares! The Beaten and Downtrodden - Stacey David's Gearz S9 E8

  • In the current fad of “flipping” cars for cash, Stacey takes on the good, bad, and ugly of a ’66 Biscayne that was bought at auction. Nice looking paint can’t hide the safety issues that are found once this car is put on the lift. From suspension, to brakes, to battery cables…and even down to the lug nuts, this auction beauty turns out to be more of a beast. Safety and sport-style handling are only a few repairs away on GearZ.

    Does anyone remember this guy from Trucks from the old tv network TNN? And also the show horsepower tv ? The beginning of my car education.

    • @waltercooling8907
      @waltercooling8907 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The last host/gearhead I watched with interest was Kevin Tetz- I used to remember all the cast of the earlier shows.Really liked Ian Johnson, Lou Santiago, Jesse Combs, Rick Bacon and all the others. What happened to Power Nation? Stacey was the first host on Trucks! about 20 yrs ago( I think)

    • @Bluddphart
      @Bluddphart 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Daniel O.,....I remember him from Trucks. He built some really cool stuff. I remember Stacey saying that a lot of the builds ended up at the car crusher because he wanted to sell them and put the money into new projects, but because a lot of those projects were corporate donations the corporations didn't want to be accountable if the purchaser(s) got hurt, they insisted the vehicles be crushed. So Stacey started buying the project builds himself. Not long after that he wasn't on Trucks anymore and I had no idea why. It wasn't until I'd heard about Gearz that I finally heard this story I'm telling right now. So I assume he either was fired or told them to fuck themselves and started his own production company(Rattletrap) and show (Gearz). Which I, personally, am thankful for. Stacey is THE MAN!!

    • @waltercooling8907
      @waltercooling8907 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks- knew something crappy had happened to his efforts. He is the man!! All the real instructive car shows have been replaced with drama queens shilling sorry projects we basically don't give a .... about

    • @Bluddphart
      @Bluddphart 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@waltercooling8907 Yeah,... I agree. Stacey started at Trucks as a co-host and when the original main host left he became the sole host which is when I was first introduced to him. He had his own shop called Rattletrap which is also the name of his production company.

    Do you have to take out the c clamp inorder to do a rear brakes conversation on a Axle with drum brakes

  • @numberninelogistics4626
    @numberninelogistics4626 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Stupid question. Since Disc brakes require more fluid to operate than drums, does the stock master cylinder has the capacity to operate? I remember one of these shows, (Hot Rod TV, Crank N Chrome, Horsepower, etc) made a note about that, but said the the Corvette Master could be used in a lot of applications for the (Same model year) due to Factory 4 wheel Disc.

      He new master cylinder was on the bench with the whole kit in the beginning, they just didn't show him putting it in.

    • @redneckwithajeep5001
      @redneckwithajeep5001 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know it’s been a year since you asked but I thought I’d give the answer. The original master cylinder was small on these cars in fact it’s actually smaller than my fist. I wouldn’t trust it to hold the amount of fluid required and most kits will supply something more adequate for disks than the original master cylinder. In 67 it was a particularly rare option but I don’t think they even reproduce anything for that system

    I am in love with the Pontiac Firebird in the beginning of the video! I can't remember if it's a 68 or 69 maybe a 70? Either way THAT is a gorgeous car! And the only reason I kept watching the video was just to see glimpses of that beauty.....NOT the polished turd that he put the overdose of parts on.😛

    • @Bluddphart
      @Bluddphart 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a '69 Firebird convertible. It wasn't an overdose of parts. It's obviously pointless to do the suspension half assed. That may be good enough for you but Stacey is a pro by comparison, and obviously the customer had the money.

    Stacey's show has always been about the work, the tips and the ideas, not doing it fast, cheap and being silly and (thank goodness) not with all the stupid childish drama of all those other amature hack Hollywood shows that a really just 60 min commercials for all the stuff. When the goal of the show changes from the wrenching work and cool ideas to the drama and money, it becomes just like all the rest and loses my interest. Stacey's show has never done that and I hope he never lets it get there, since his show is different than all those other cookie cutter shows out there. Stacy is a true professional and doing for the blue collar man. Once you watch all the different shows on these days, it becomes obvious that Stacy is one of only a few of the people on tv that actually know what they're doing and how to do it right!
    We are all very lucky to have someone like Stacy and his shows.
    Stacy, stay true to yourself, I've been watching you for years and years.

      I have met him at several shows as well as got to tour the studio where he records this show. Several of the cars were there when we stopped in. He is a true died in the wool car guy that his builds are on an extremely high level. A lot of the TV and SEMA cars/trucks fall apart under scrutiny. The stuff he builds takes so long because he's a perfectionist and sponsorships change so parts are swapped.
