Oooh, yeah. If I had a whole bunch of free time and nothing else to do, I would love to make a steampunk mark 1 Ironman suit! It's kinda got a bit of that vibe already.
What I love about your creations are that you leave a lot to interpretation. Like you give us the main bits and show us how you made yours but someone could easily picked up from where you left off on part one and make their jetpack completely different. You give us the tools and instructions but ultimately leave it up to us on how we want it. But anyways you're awesome I've been watching your videos since your first tophat video and I love what you do. Keep up the awesome work!!
You do fantastic work! I'm remaking my Pyramid Head mask and so far your videos have been the most helpful when it comes to making all his bits and bobs. Thank you!
I've taught art for many years, and when we create paper mache masks, I sometimes buy the kids a bag of dried green split peas. We glue these down for our rivet heads and then they paint them later. Works great and VERY cheap!
Wow this is fantastic! I made two of your top hats and they turned out great. WE get lots of compliments on them. This build looks insanely complicated and difficult. Sign me up!
wow youtube needs more channels like this one you explain very well, it's funny, it's inspiring, The result of your créations is "simply amazing"...though it's a shame you don't ad more images and pics with large view and zoom on details at the end...that reaction chaber with blue must be something with a little led inside!! +1 follower
Thanks, I will take that into account when I make more videos, Though it is always so tricky trying to fit a tutorial video in to under 7 minutes- which is always my goal so people don't get too bored.
Tomas Rozo Gomez-Caceres yeah for real, the simplicity of the builds (seemingly, haven’t done one myself, yet) with the quality of the result makes it very appealing
I am absolutely hooked! Trying to make screw heads like you is an unspeakable challenge (you make it so easy!) well I gave up and instead cutting a piece of foam out I just compress it with my metal ruler. It actually gives the same effect and saves me a lot of stress.
@@lindafromczech Hmm, interesting. Was it with a brand new blade, or had you already done a bit of cutting with it? Good job figuring out something that worked for you, that's what it's all about!
@@lindafromczech Yeah, that would work, I don't use that technique in my build videos, as I know if I do, no matter how much I stress safety, there will be people in small rooms burning foam and breathing in the fumes, which could be really bad for their health.
this is the most beautiful DIY project I have ever seen. I'm sure if you sold a few ready made (or low assembly) versions of your projects, people would rush to buy them.
Impressive work. I've already purchased the pattern for your mechanical arm, and it came out beautifully. This jetpack may very well be my next project.
That looks so cool! I did a jetpack once and it was far from being that good looking. For rivets, I used brads, it works well since they're already in metal, but only for gold of course (I kept some entire and I broke some to keep only the heads of the brads).
Hey everyone, my preferred paints and supplies change over time and a few things have changed since making this video. You can check out my current favourites on my Amazon page (affiliate link) www.amazon.com/shop/lostwax
I love your designs. I just bought the jet pack pattern and I'm hoping to make a steampunk witches broom using some version of the nozzle for the top cover on the broom bristles. Your designs have given me inspiration! I just thought I'd throw this out there in case you need a future project... It would be great to have a pattern for a steampunk witches broom.
9:46 you mentioned using pliers to bend the weed trimmer wire (with no pliers in sight), but for me I had to use my hot air gun to heat it up to bend it. and that was for all bends!
There is a tool made especially for folding materials (my spoon handles are thick, so the wouldn't work) called a folding bone. You can usually find these in the scrapbooking section of most craft stores.
Instead of pressing your tube really hard into the foam to leave an indentation where you are going to cut, you can either paint the end of the tube, touch it to an ink pad, or color it with a non-permanent marker. Before it dries, simply touch it to the foam. Now you know exactly the size the hole needs to be without the stress and strain. Cut out all the color on the foam and you have your hole. The coloring on the very end of the tube won't be seen since it will be inside the hole.
I don't think they would really. I think they generally start off sharper though, depending on quality. I have a sharpening stone where I work , and sharpen my knife probably every hour or so. If your knife is dull, it is super frustrating trying to cut the foam.
that would be awesome. your videos and designs are so cool, especially the steampunk ones. btw i tagged you on instagram with the picture of the goggles i made...
Are you using some fancy program to make those patterns? You've made a lot of them and I've been wondering, how do you make these complicated things so well. They're amazing! :D
No fancy pants programs, mostly just trial and error. Lots of error:) I tried using 3d programs, but it turned out to be easier to just work it out on paper. Thanks for watching!
Lost Wax can't wait! jet pack is only waiting for the dish washer hoses. can't find them anywhere. I have different hoses I may have to use instead. but I like the ringed hoses better.
That was impressive, Given me lot's of ideas for a Steampunk Ironman suit.

That's a new one, good to remember!
Cool ! I'm going in a convention the 19 February, I made your steampunk hat and glasses, can't wait to wear them ! :)
Sweet!

Yep, it's definitely a step up from the top hat pattern!
I think you make my favourite videos out of the whole youtube world ! Thanks for sharing !

You, sir, are a genius! I just binge watched all of your videos (and I mean ALL) and i loved them!! I hope more videos will be coming soon!
No doubt. Some beverages & a big bucket of hot, buttery popcorn and you're all set! Best wishes to you! ♥

Perfect!! Whatever works for you! Pretty much the key is to have a super sharp knife:)
Lost Wax did you ever consider trying wood burner pen to do this as well?
Lost Wax btw I went to your site and bought the scalpel you are using. Still gave me trouble🤔

you have to be a pure genius to do this if I even try I'll mess it up in a Split Second
Thank you for another amazing video! I love watching you create amazing things and listening to your funny commentary.
It's twelve thirty at night when i was watchin this video. Yeah sure i'll go outside. lovely in the pitch black darkness.
What a crazy amount of detail! Nicely done.
amazing detail all with foam
Impressive work. I've already purchased the pattern for your mechanical arm, and it came out beautifully. This jetpack may very well be my next project.
That makes me happy to hear it came out great for you. It's so satisfying when you make something that looks amazing!
excellent. very inspiring !
Keep on trucking ! (from France)

Just bought the complete template pack! So worth it!
Nice, thanks for helping feed my family 😀
You deserve it, the designs are looking awesome! Gonna try out the steampunk stuff very soon!

Downloading as I'm watching this. Ridiculously excited about this :-D
Great job !! In 2018 im going on steam punk convention and this helped me alot and i mean ALOT with my cosplays ^-^ thank you
my pleasure.
You should totally do like a plasma gun detention on this to make it look like a steam punk ghost busters thingy. You're welcome.

Nice tip, I'll check it out.

I love your videos dude......really relaxes me. keep up the good work
Thinking of the tiny rattling sounds this jetpack will make makes me giggle.
Your videos are amazing! Keep up the great work!
Can you please do steampunk wings?
I love your videos, brother. some day, my lazy self with recreate this instead of fantasying about d doing them
My favourite one yet! Do you not do any priming before you paint? I find the foam sucks up paint like crazy if it's not sealed.
This is amazing! What kind of black paint do you use?
your work is amazing! thanks for the efort! continue like that!
I love your videos!! Just awesome!
Any way you would sell just a raw jetpack not painted or designed just put together?
Привет)) Вы настоящий талант! Всегда с интересом смотрю вас. Удачи!))
Great build!
Do the scalpels hold their sharpness longer than xacto blades?
I don't think they would really. I think they generally start off sharper though, depending on quality. I have a sharpening stone where I work , and sharpen my knife probably every hour or so. If your knife is dull, it is super frustrating trying to cut the foam.
may i suggest a behind the scenes showing how you designs these things? or even a tutorial to design your own?
It's a lot of trial and error. Maybe next time I will try to document the process.
that would be awesome. your videos and designs are so cool, especially the steampunk ones. btw i tagged you on instagram with the picture of the goggles i made...
I prefer the longer videos
You work is so awesome it dont stop of sourprise me😮😮...and maybe u can do a steampunk gun...😆
Im gonna need a lot more supplies for this. Was wondering if you could do some Steampunk weaponry perhaps?
Definitely.
its amasing bro congratulations :D
fantastic!
Do you use industrial strength hot glue?
Nope, just regular multitemp glue sticks from a local big box store.
How long did this build take?
You are just amazing!
Is thes a prop
Im almost complete. Cant find a cheap drain hose. New ones are 11 bucks :( Looking for a cheap alternative
It wouldn't be the same diameter, but check the dollar store for a foot air pump for camping. I've bought a few just for the hoses.
So cooooooool!
Im putting an LED in the little chamber instead of that blue stuff
Are you using some fancy program to make those patterns? You've made a lot of them and I've been wondering, how do you make these complicated things so well. They're amazing! :D

Do some cyberpunk stuff maybe?
Hey Chris. have you considered doing a steampunk shoulder/arm Gauntlet. it's really the only thing missing from your steampunk collection.
Yes, it really is on the list, I just never seem to get around to it though. Thanks for reminding me again:)
Lost Wax can't wait! jet pack is only waiting for the dish washer hoses. can't find them anywhere. I have different hoses I may have to use instead. but I like the ringed hoses better.
Not sure where you live, but did you check my supplies list in the description? There's an Amazon link for the hose there.
yea. ill look now. haha. ty
