This is why we need all grading companies to use distributed ledger technology (Like HEDERA) to ensure provenance and generate an immutable chain-of-custody for these cards. Without a permanent, public, and verifiable chain of ownership, it's impossible to fully verify authentication.
@WillSheltonXx Not yet. I know that some lot of rare/valuable goods marketplace platforms use Hedera (SUKU for expensive sneakers, VinAssure for wine bottles, etc.) but I haven't heard anything about PSA, Beckett, CGC using the technology yet. People should push then to get in contact with someone at Hedera to get this going.
This would be awesome. We need to get started on this asap. The sooner we get started on this, the bigger the database of ownership will grow and the stronger and stronger the level of trust will become.
@@WillSheltonXx SUKU uses it to verify the chain-of-custody for high-end sneakers, as well as quite a few other companies that use it to tokenize their collectibles.
So I remember the president of cgc sending out an email talking about people who were committing fraud and the ripping the slabs story was listed but this is after that, this is just crazy.
The funny thing is... I have an odd feeling that even these fakes are gonna be worth something due to how big this scandal is in the pokemon community... Much less than what they were going for when people thought they were real, but still worth something. I could be wrong but still...
CGC can afford to make this disappear- pay everyone back and move on. If they drag their feet it will only make it worse. You can't tell me they don't have the money to fix this.
Ohhhh ya… I was wondering whatever happened with those newly surfaced Illustrator cards last year. It seemed to just disappear from the news cycle, lol. All we can hope for future interested buyers is that while the date can be manipulated on the dot matrix, maybe the serial and model and all that cannot? That way, TPC could say “Hey, this is the serials/model/settings that we used back then; so anything different from this cannot be confirmed as authentic.” It’s a mess either way… I’m just glad that I’m not rich enough to collect any of this kind of stuff, haha.
rattle the part where you describe old jao 'SLIIPING IT ON IN THERE',,,in regards to swapping the cards out was so good it made me laugh out loud. this is one big greasy awful mess. this is FRAUD
There are quite a few fake Chinese cards in slabs. Even in PSA slabs. The market is flooded, it's not like the days where you could find the difference just by feel. Some people are printing with hacked printer firmware so you will never spot the difference without sampling every card and checking the paper pulp and the ink under an electronic microscope.
Man this sucks. I've been a Pokémon fan since 1999, and I'm totally ignoring all of the hyped up stuff. I definitely don't have FOMO. I got back into the hobby early last year because of watching the original anime and digging out my old cards. What a time to get back in 😅. I've been focusing mostly on collecting SwSh now. One thing that's pissing me off about all this madness is that the kids not being able to collect because of the scalpers and stuff. I'm giving my nephew twenty booster packs worth of Scarlet & Violet cards. I had given him my HGSS card collection, plus a HGSS poster, a couple of years ago.
The ink doesn’t match, the paper doesn’t match; these didn’t even need meta data…. The print speeds are wrong, patterns, all kinds of red flags. These went authenticated; these were profitable and given a pass. Shocker; printer paper from 2025 is not the same 30 years later… the weight isn’t even the same.
Nice VideoRattle, Some info from Chinese community, Xiao is basically shilling these cards and it's almost certain he is selling these cards himself aswell. By proping up the price on auctions and saying that he spent millions of dollars on them, as well as playing victim by saying if they are fakes he is losing money etc... But in reality he's the beneficiary of the "real" sales.
I knew to stay away from CGC when I saw guys cutting cards with scissors and getting a MC ratings. Made all my genuine MC cards feel worthless over night... their f** ups always bleed into the rest of the market...
dw its just drama being drama. If you decided to grade your cards with cgc then why change your mind now? this will be forgotten soon and nobody really cares after a while. As a matter of fact, if cgc cards drop value because of this I think more people are going to buy them. cgc grades better than psa imo so it is what it is.
Ratings agencies were paid by wall street banks Wait you were talking about Pokemon cards? I mean that's what Wall Street thought too, including Lehman Brothers 😂
Yes. You often see commons, uncommons, and rares in new sets reprinted and potentially sold as singles. Pokemon cards lack even the bare minimum of protection measures so it's very easily to see them replicated.

I would say yes. The problem is that CGC graded and verified them to be real. So either they're complicit in passing off counterfeit goods as real or they are unable to differentiate between the real and the fakes. Either is bad for them.
