    Just wanted to let you know that you have some resistance on your lock which will ultimately drain your batter faster. You want to make sure there is no dragging going on with your deadbolt. Might have to make some adjustments on your deadbolt strike plate.

      Definitely was. I realized it a few days after I started using the lock, because it definitely got more noticeable as time went on. We fixed it right away. Thanks!

    Off-topic, which drill are you using in this video? Seems small and good for me! ;)

    For installation - I've downloaded the app at home, but can't tell if I need to have access to wifi when installing the unit at our cottage, or does bluetooth do the installation part?

    Excellent review, I have a question, can I send a code to some friend only for one time, or only I can send codes for several days. For example, what do I want?? I a have a party in my house, if I want send a code to every guest , only for that occasion, is that possible??

    • @ShellyWutke604
      @ShellyWutke604  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can set codes as you'd like through the app and you can set them to expire too. There's a guest list you can use to just keep adding people, although I can't tell from looking at it whether or not there is a set number of people you can add.

    Do you think August Smart Lock + Conector will work for a small store?

    • @ShellyWutke604
      @ShellyWutke604  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it definitely would. It will work on any door with a standard deadbolt.

    My only concern with the auto lock is getting locked out the house without my phone or keys If I'm going back and forth out the house. The keypad was an option. I wish there was some kind of sensor to auto lock only when the door is close so as not to slam the door with the deadbolt sticking out after auto locking if you're closing the door at the last second for a last minute rush back in the house.

    • @ShellyWutke604
      @ShellyWutke604  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A sensor would be a good addition to the set, especially in a situation like you're describing. I haven't got caught out without my phone yet, but that's exactly why I have the keypad. It's a just in case thing.

    • @WrldExplorer
      @WrldExplorer 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shelly Wutke // Survivemag that's why I got the keypad also.

    • @floydlholt9829
      @floydlholt9829 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's a sensor for the 3rd Gen lock that won't lock the door if you keep it crack. I'm using it and it works fine so far.

    • @floydlholt9829
      @floydlholt9829 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Plus the sensor is included with the lock too.

      You can put the app on your Apple Watch to access the functions

    Does the keypad just snaps onto the mounting bracket that you screwed onto the wall? So someone can jus come by and take the keypad off of the bracket?

    • @ShellyWutke604
      @ShellyWutke604  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it would be pretty hard to just come and remove the keypad, but if they did they'd have a hard time trying to figure out the codes. You can assign individual codes to each person you know or change the codes every day. If someone pulled it off you could just change the codes and they'd be locked out.

      you can actually set it to lock automatically in a specific amount of time if you'd like. I have mine set for 30 seconds. So no matter what my door is always locked, even with my absent minded kids! Lol

    Do you have to have a August Conenct AC-R1 in order to use App and keypad?

    • @CostaApostolou
      @CostaApostolou 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Danny Ryu hope.... they sell the keypad and lock in a bundle without connect so it doesn't need it. the connect is for wifi , to be able to open the door while you're at work for example.

      I believe if you have a iPad and use HomeKit you don't need to buy the wifi connector, the iPad acts as a bridge. That's the prompt I got during the setup.

    Does anyone know how to pair google home with August lock?

    • @ShellyWutke604
      @ShellyWutke604  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Found this online at CNET. Both the first- and second-generation locks from August will work with Google Home, though to be able to use the integration, you will also need the August Connect Wi-Fi Bridge.
      You can find August in the Services part of the Google Home app.
      Open the Google Home app on iOS or Android.
      Tap the hamburger button in the top left corner of the app to expand the left menu and select More settings.
      Tap Services.
      Scroll down and select August.
      Tap Link Account.
      Enter your August account credentials and tap Sign In.
      Enter the six-digit code sent to your phone and tap Verify.
      Tap Agree to allow Google Assistant to operate and view the status of your locks.
