- My very 1st full guide/walkthrough. "Super Punch-Out!!" for the Super Famicom.
No damage taken. Took 37 attempts to achieve that.
No save states or tools were used.
I could've done a regular playthrough of this game. But I wanted to do a proper guide/walkthrough of this game, showing as many patterns as possible, and avoid taking damage at the same time.
Here are the goals I wanted for this game:
- No damage (perfect run).
- No power ups (glowing boxing gloves).
- Beat every record (best times and scores).
- Show as many patterns as possible (some of them may not be shown).
With practice, the game's difficulty is medium to fairly hard. Playing the game 'normally' under these stipulations is another story.

Now, onto the full guide/walkthrough...
Gabby Jay:
- Very easy. Jay shouldn't be a problem.
Bear Hugger:
- Easy. Hugger's big belly can be body blowed with good timing.
Piston Hurricane:
- Easy. Hurricane Rush can be troublesome for some people, so I showed how it's done.
Bald Bull:
- Fairly easy. Bull Charge is always done 6 times on phase 3, so I decided to show that.
Bob Charlie:
- Slightly easy. Charlie's randomness might be overwhelming. Since I wanted a KO victory without speedrunning, I had to practice very heavily on getting around Charlie's randomness, mostly on phase 2 (if the first punch wasn't countered, then add 1 extra body blow before the last hook).
Dragon Chan:
- Medium. Chan's randomness on phase 2 might be overwhelming. Since I wanted a KO victory without speedrunning, I had to practice very heavily on 2 of Chan's patterns (counter punch after he meditates [wait a tiny bit over 1 second upon doing a hook]; don't counter punch after he does 3 side kicks).
Masked Muscle:
- Medium to slightly hard. Muscle's randomness on when he chooses to spit might be overwhelming. Since I wanted a KO victory without speedrunning, I had to practice very heavily on getting around Muscle's randomness (he usually doesn't spit at around 10 to 11 seconds). If Muscle spat on phase 2, then my backup KO strategy would be to do an uppercut (Muscle's face isn't weak), then a series of hooks (the last hook must be done first right after Muscle's 2-hit headbutt move).
Mr. Sandman:
- Slightly hard. With practice, it's not too much of a problem. Watch out for the triple uppercut punch on phase 3.
Aran Ryan:
- Slightly hard to fairly hard. With practice, it's not too much of a problem. The only thing random about Ryan is if he's super punched. That's why I do a body blow first to reduce the risk of getting grabbed.
Heike Kagero:
- Fairly hard. Kagero is pattern-based, so it's all about memorizing. For phase 1, I delay the last punches to increase my chances of not getting caught off-guard during the mirage dance.
Mad Clown:
- Fairly hard. Clown is pattern-based and random at the same time. Most of the randomness is on his gloating. His gloating can leave his big belly open for a body blow. If one decides to go for that, always prepare to dodge immediately afterwards. I show how to avoid Clown's juggling balls. It's not easy because they're random, and reaction time is short. On phase 3, Clown's 'Show Time!' pattern is always the same.
Super Machoman:
- Fairly hard to hard. Machoman is pattern-based and random at the same time. The randomness on what Exercise Program (A, B, and C) he does can be overwhelming for most people. Not only that, but his jumping around randomly can also catch one off-guard. To make things worse, he's FAST with his punches. Some of my attempts were ruined because of that.
Narcis Prince:
- Fairly hard to hard. Prince is pattern-based and random at the same time. Most of the randomness is on his moving around. I could've done what the others did with this fight. But I wanted to be different. So I deliberately avoid punching Prince's face.
Hoy Quarlow:
- Hard. Quarlow is pattern-based. The only time he's random is if one tries to punch him first. I decided to show what happens if Quarlow blocks. Getting pushed left or right doesn't cause any damage.
Rick Bruiser:
- Hard to very hard. Rick is pattern-based and random at the same time. The randomness on his moving around can definitely catch one off-guard. To make things worse, he's FAST with his punches. Some of my attempts were ruined because of that.
Nick Bruiser:
- Very hard. Nick is pattern-based and random at the same time. The randomness is on when he does his unblockable punches up to 25 seconds. I delay the punches during that time to increase my chances of not getting caught off-guard by his auto-KO move. In case if I mess up the punching patterns during the first 25 seconds, my backup strategy would be to do an uppercut (Nick's face is weak) after his auto-KO move to recover. - เกม

Due to Nintendo confirming how to pronounce NES as...'Ness' (as of August 2, 2018) through a game called "WarioWare Gold" (Japanese version), I'm referring to the original Japanese name for both Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and Super Nintendo Entertainment System (Super NES). The reason why is because I find Nintendo's confirmation very stupid. Back in the late 1980s and 1990s, they said 'N.E.S.' and 'Super N.E.S.' during the commercials. They said it themselves. Look those videos up, and you'll see what I mean. Now, after 1985 (released on October 18, 1985 in North America), Nintendo suddenly decided to change up the pronunciation of NES (from N.E.S. to 'Ness'). This will cause some confusion between the American/European consoles and the "Mother" ("EarthBound") character, Ness. Therefore, I'm referring to both of those consoles as the Famicom (FC) and Super Famicom (Super FC), as they are originally called that in Japan. You people are free to call those consoles however you want, but I'm sticking with the original Japanese names from now on.
And to those who ask 'Why not call the third generation console just Nintendo?', calling the console that is also the name of the company, and that can cause some confusion between the console and the company. I could call Nintendo's fourth generation console just Super Nintendo, but some people would rather abbreviate the name to just Super NES or SNES for obvious reasons (mainly because the name is very long). That's another reason why I'm sticking to the original Japanese names. From time to time, I may even abbreviate the name Famicom to just FC and the name Super Famicom to just Super FC or SFC. I hope you people understand where I'm coming from with this.

Wish devs of this game beat narcis without touching his face. Would have been cool with a secret message when you beat him without touching his face. He mixed u with someone else

If you want to KO Gabby Jay in 6.50-12.50 on time, do this!
Start hitting him in the face a ton of times, until your power meter is full. Hit him with gut aimed super punches twice in a row as a counter attack, and he should start being "dizzy", where he spins around the stage. Land an uppercut when he spins in front of Mac. You have an instant knock-down, that will always KO him! If you did something wrong in the run, though, Gabby Jay will not go down after being hit while dizzy, he might not be dizzy, and he might get up. Make sure to land enough hits on Gabby Jay to get the invisible Dizzy Meter up. Maybe try hitting him a couple more times even though your special meter is full.
my best on gabby jay is like 8 seconds
6.26 is the fastest you can get, you do the same exact strategy but you have to be pretty precise

On the final boss, you can get an instant knockdown if you hit him with a special attack during the attack where he jumps back and then charges at you.
I know about that. But it's very risky, and that's not what this guide goes for. This guide goes for safe strategies.

Here is a few tips: when the fight begins punch him in the face until your super meter is full, when you do that he will dodge, if ur timing is correct he will go down instantly, if ur timing is incorrect hit him with a super punch to the gut, on the 20 second mark, he will do his hurricane rush, With perfect timing you will manage to super punch him in the gut, repeat this process and piston hurricane is done

*sigh*...I'm looking for something inbetween this and like a record speedrun. I can beat the game, easily, but I want to get better at the game, and there's a lot of methods and strategies, like how to counter punch/dizzy/KO certain opponents, and the speedruns go way too fast for me to pick up anything. I'm not trying to compete with the speedrunners, but I want to improve my own personal speeds, and those speedrun videos go way too fast for me to really pick up anything.

Trying to figure out why you didn't counter Bald Bull's charge with a regular body blow, it's easier than continually dodging
I wanted to show as many patterns as I possibly could. The description will tell you what this walkthrough was going for. It is unlike many other walkthroughs on this game.
So you can block your face or your body. But how do you choose between?
Hold Up to block the face. Do nothing to block the body. Both of them in execution can be tricky because the player has to read what the opponent will do.

I played and beat both arcade games and beat Mike Tyson's Punch Out; honestly I think Mike Tyson's Punch Out was much harder than the rest
Error - Macro I’ve played all Punch Out games except Super Punch Out (Arcade) and I can definitely say that the arcade punch out is incredibly hard

You took way longer with gabby jay than you needed. If you'd have countered his punches instead of dodging, and supered him when he came back from the "Come on" set up, you'd have downed him a lot faster. Hell just countering his punches will down him before his "Come on"
If you actually read the description, you would know that this is aiming to show as many patterns as possible. This isn't meant to be a speedrun or getting the fastest times.
This is about safe strats, you cant learn the speedrun techniques easily

When I was a kid I was stuck on him forever. You just have to "dodge then punch" He always moves himself slightly before his attacks. You'll pick up all of it if u watch closely.

There is no way that the whole time, you never lost your Stamins power. You must know a special code to win. So, one of the Big keys is Block and dodge.?

My tactic is far a to block high i memorise by thinking a is for air and b for body also block b while with c i just know the other off heart now so i dont bothe but i usually duck although the timing can be fairly tedious
Also with nick and the insta ko move, it is "possible" to hit him with a high ko punch although being the hardest manouver in the game it does take him down for a decent amount of time

I have always played like that ever since I found out that punching left is faster. I absolutely have no intention of changing that. Sorry if that disappoints you (and anyone else).
Yes. Speedrunners do it every time. One of the examples on punching left is Bear Hugger. From punching left only, you score five hits. Mixing up the punches will score you four hits. That is because punching right is actually slower overall. The more you punch left, the more hits you score.
Are you a robot
If you want proof, look at the matches with Super Machoman and Rick Bruiser. Out of 37 attempts, those two ruined some of them, and they are the most likely to ruin those attempts.

I know that. I have watched speedruns of this game before. But this is a walkthrough that goes for easier strategies, not harder strategies.
So the strategy that ur using is easier?

I have not played the original "Punch-Out!!" on Famicom, and I have no intention of doing so.
