    Very well summarised! I first discovered you from the Pokémon price video and really enjoy your content, so thanks for making it! Not sure what it’s like in Canada, but in Australia eBay fees are 14% 😳

    Good video and also a very good explanation of eBay’s bullsh*t sellers! I hate it when people on eBay or even „videogame collectors“ tell me or even in whole yt videos say something like: „yeeeah but.. my Pokèmon Colosseum is WORTH 170 dollars because it’s a rare game you can’t buy nowadays“ I mean yeah it’s true that I can’t buy any GameCube game but this doesn’t mean you can wash your hands in pure innocence if you’re trying to sell it for 170 dollars and also tell me this is totally fine o-O

      Someone skipped economics class… How does a less readily available item that is priced based on the average of people willing to pay said price fall on resellers or collectors? If said items where more readily available the price would be much lower?.. actually if it wasn’t for resellers selling retro video games as much as they have, the prices would be a lot higher because there would be less copies available… And also it’s a collector/novelty item.. it’s not essential… if you don’t like the prices find a new hobby instead of being mad at people who literally don’t set the prices, the consumers do…. Literally the only way resellers can affect the price is by having several copies of a certain item and then either driving the price down by flooding the market or keep the price higher by holding said item until the prices increase… I am a collector and I’m willing to pay higher prices on more obscure items that are not as common to find… even though I don’t like it, it’s part of it being a collector/ Gamer…

    I love these overview videos on video game pricing. Based on your video from early last year, do you still see Pokémon games decreasing in the next year or so still?

    • @Snivy102
      @Snivy102  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      They've been slowly decreasing, and it looks like they'll continue to decrease into next year. Not just Pokemon games, but every game - it's because of the current economy.
      But in general, if you're not in a rush to buy these games, I would wait and see what happens because the market is still pretty volatile currently.

    Price is determined by only one person. The person selling the items. And the supply left. If the seller has the last one left for sale. They can pick any price they want. Even 1000's of times more then ebay. What Ebay pricing does is provide example of what the highest price ever paid was. You can match that if supply runs low. But if supply is high then good luck.

    I thought everyone knows you can’t get eBay prices on person to person. FB for example. However I use ebay prices when I am selling on ebay and that’s almost all I sell on. If I’m selling on fb I usually take 20-40% off.

    • @OMGhangout
      @OMGhangout ปีที่แล้ว

      All that being said I sell a ton of stuff on eBay. We make 10-15 listing everyday for our side business. It’s pretty easy, but like you said there is always fees and shipping and eBay dramatically favors the buyer. I recently lost $270 on shipping a mattress.

    • @Snivy102
      @Snivy102  ปีที่แล้ว

      A lot of sellers in my area are just stubborn, and would rather sit on items for weeks instead of pricing lower than ebay. It definitely doesn't help that with video games most people will use "PriceCharting" values without knowing that it's basically ebay prices

    Funny you brought up retro rick. I think it's just because he seems to actually enjoy what he buys. Compare that to phoenix resale, who is definitely not interested in anything beyond maybe modern games (and the value of older games), he's at least fun to watch. I'd also say his focus is less on purely reselling and that's more a means to an end. Like yeah, he does resell, and he advertises his whatnot stream, but he's not going through game stores or flea markets saying the value of shit he's finding. He's talking about what it means for him. Definitely a bit more commercially edited... And damn, it bothers me none of them can bother to learn something as easy as editing. Like, if you're gonna become a youtuber, you should learn to edit imo. You can outsource graphics creation, but I can never take someone seriously who hasn't invested themselves enough to edit their own videos. Hell, that's half the fun. They always feel like outsiders, as far as youtube goes. Like they came here just to make money. But at least Rick has a more genuine appreciation of games, and while I'm not a big toy collector, his interest in toys seems to be the same. The guy resells, but he's reselling what he loves, not because it's a good market to resell in (see Phoenix... seriously, the guy's got more games in the resell side of his basement setup than his actual gaming setup)
    Beyond that, I've mostly gone to ebay, with getting other things from the local flea market and the game store inside my local flea market (an actual store on the inside section, and an outside section with stalls that cycle). But my cabinet that I'm currently limited to is getting full, so I'm deliberately picking my remaining spaces. So I'm going to likely pay that premium, but it's so I can get what I want to fill it out. But your videos have been very helpful in browsing Facebook/Craigslist for decent prices. Just gotta get more space first.

    Interesting take but have you considered that people who aren’t selling on eBay don’t want to give up their stuff to some douche flipper on eBay? The last thing I would want it to drop a Buncha games by 15 to 20 a piece so some full time scum bag can come by just to throw it back up for sale again, this coming from a person who cares about games and enjoys playing them. The market is now flooded by garbage humans who salivate over taking someone’s collectibles away and jacking the prices and selling them to the next guy who wants to start collecting it’s gross. I say keep the prices high resellers ruined this market.

    I noticed that you got a new tv. You had a trinitron on in a video about a year ago, did something happen to it?

    • @Snivy102
      @Snivy102  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very good observation! It's actually complicated, and I don't recommend going down the CRT rabbit hole lol, but basically: The silver Trinitrons (flat screen Wegas) are really heavy. 27 inch is the largest that I can manage comfortably with one other person helping me. BUT, the JVC D-Series is the same weight yet it is a 32 inch screen. The Trinitron is slightly sharper, but I prefer the bigger screen of the JVC. Plus, the JVC naturally has better geometry because it's a curved screen vs the Trinitron Wega's flat screen. Tldr; JVC bigger screen but same weight.
      Making a video on CRTs is on my checklist, because there's a lot of stuff that people aren't aware of that I can share. For now, I will stick to writing pages on CRTDatabase.com

    • @Snivy102
      @Snivy102  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But as far as what happened to the Trinitron, it now has a permanent home at a local Super Smash Bros Melee tournament venue. They use it as the stream setup because it's still a really good TV
