    Thanks for your review which is without a doubt the best I've ever seen and heard for any Rainsong guitar. Simply awesome playing and terrific tones coming out of this guitar.

    One of the better guitar reviews I've watched on YT. Thanks for posting I enjoyed watching it. I own a Rainsong P12 parlor not because I was looking for one but because I had the opportunity to get a new one at about a third of the retail price and took it. Plugged in it has great versatility as demonstrated but what I like the best is that it's virtually indestructible, a great travel guitar.

      Tom Peterson how did you manage to do that? I am looking for a rain song but financially speaking it wouldn’t be a prudent purchase for me at the moment

    Nice review Thomas. You helped make my decision… I just ordered a Concert Series Jumbo, with the N1 neck and an Anthem pickup. Can’t wait to play it! Thanks again!

    Thanks for your demo. I have owned a Rainsong Nylon string guitar for well over 10 years now and love it. I guess It's time to get rid of a couple of my Gibsons and move up to a Rainsong steel string model too!!

    I was stunned by how "boomy" and thin in the treble the wooden guitars sounded, in comparison to the RainSong which sounded a lot more rich and balanced in timbre. I try to stay on new developments in musical technology, and this seems like a winning direction for sure.
    Maybe future CCU technology means that we can take carbon out of the air and make a guitar out of that instead, haha

      Same here! I'm trading in my Taylor for one because the desert is killing my wooden guitars. How do you like your RainSong?

    Rainsongs are nice I bought one 20+yrs ago, Mine was very tinny sounding but I loved it. I would still have it but I fell on hard times & had to sell it :(

    Hey man, thank you very much for your videos. I really enjoy them. Please, could you make a video with a Rainsong guitar with a Tonewood amp installed? I am thinking about buying these two products but I can't find any videos showing them together

    I've had a JM100 since 2005. I wouldn't give up my Martin D-28 for it, but I also wouldn't ship my D-28 with my bags when I fly. It is a different thing altogether though and I play it more gently so as to not overwhelm the expression.

      How does it hold up in open tunings? Will it need to be adjusted often? Any good for slide guitar?

    • @JeebusDumonti
      @JeebusDumonti 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't play in open tunings but he intonation is very good on this guitar. It stays in tune better than any of my wooden guitars. It just has lots of sustain and is very loud so I find myself playing more carefully with it.

    wanna know a trick for the best piezo sound ever ? all you need is a kemper a daw a interface and a match eq plugin ... route the kemper through your pc, record the piezo signal, match eq it to either the miced signal of your guitar or a guitarsound you like online ... eq and compress it and profile the result. thats is it the tonedexter pedal can do similar things but the kemper result is amazing for live use

    Needing a nice travel guitar brought me here... Looks like it's going to be this one or the OM model.
    Thank you for the excellent review!
    I also think one of these CF guitars will put itself in my hands for practice & composition much more often than digging out my Taylor... I can NEVER leave it outside it's case with cats who think everything is a scratching pole!🤔😳🤣

    Thomas, very good job. Thank you. Rainsong H-WS1000N2 sounds well, but that second Lakewood sounds better. What a brand?

    Yeah, your playing makes the guitar sound great. Nice work dude.
    You did not state how easy it is to fret and play, the physical effort required.

    • @ThomasSchuber
      @ThomasSchuber  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      that's very dependent on String gauge, Setup and Tuning. but the frets and Neck are excellent, so i guess it will be as comfy as any good acoustic with your Setup.

    Liked. Phenomenal review. However, a note to say that the exact same model of CF guitar does not sound identical. I've had six identical CF guitars side by side and the difference from unit to unit is just about as much as wood guitars would differ. Or course, this could be the particular brand - but this is a higher end brand and not one of the low cost made outside of the USA. Just FYI.

    It sounds very splendid but it's harder to play because it was set up a little bit high from the factory I have one of this its very nice my only grief is the set up is little bit high so I went to the guitar shop near me and have them lower it for me :)

    Interesting. The RSong, when strummed, is the brightest of the 3, but when used "finger-style" its the most "mid", and balanced.......according to your Shure VP88.

  • @ernestochang1744
    @ernestochang1744 ปีที่แล้ว

    hello i know this is too late but how deep or how thick was the guitar all the way around, this is an important factor because on thicker Acoustic guitars my strumming arm falls asleep for long periods of time

    You're good... and funny. By the way, have you tried the OM shaped Rainsong? How does it compare to the WS shaped? I'm also contemplating a purchase but undecided between the WS and OM.

    Thanks for reviewing this :) Q?- what happens on a future refret, are those standard metal flanged frets hammered in or are they superglued or moulded carbon frets or something? Also how does the truss rod adjustment work with carbon fibre, does it flex or is it brittle..or is there even a truss rod? Thanks/Danke :)

    They're not bad. They do have a bit of that dead "ovation" sound. Like, they're bright, but not rich. I still haven't heard anything that compares to a rosewood martin with a good setup.

    • @becomeaudible1
      @becomeaudible1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      YourFavouriteColor I own a Rainsong jumbo and it sounds as good if not better than any wood guitar I've ever heard. And I own 12 solid wood guitars. It does not have a "Dead Ovation sound" at all. It has a rich, warm, full sound with great brightness, with excellent mids and lows. When it's plugged in it blows away any solid wood guitar I have ever heard. Including the solid rosewood Martin that I own.

    • @richardddeath
      @richardddeath ปีที่แล้ว +1

      An Ovation may as well be made of leather compared to this Rainsong model. I am lucky enough to own this Rainsong and a D28, I play the Rainsong about 80% and the Martin just to feel my soul resonate with some endangered hardwoods. If you switched the audio on a side by side comparison the carbon fibre would win 9 out 10, they are an exceptional sonic experience.

    I know this is an older review, but do you believe the RainSong had as much acoustic volume as the dread? It's hard to tell from the recording; I don't know if you leveled out the volume for the recording. Thank you very much!

    • @jed1166
      @jed1166 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Should be close... 5” deep like the dreadnought and Jumbo... Lower bout is almost same width as the 16” wide dreadnought. To eliminate all issues of volume, I just ordered the Concert model Jumbo!

  • @TheOtteroo

    Personally, I think Rainsong has dropped the ball by making the only neck available the N2 design. I prefer a flatter slightly wider and more thin neck. I would love to have one of these, but only with that type neck. I would jump at the chance to buy it. But By only offering an N2 neck, well lets just say, Steve Miller might like it but it's not my favorite. I wont even consider a guitar with a thick neck anymore. Its just to hard on my hand. I am sure I am not alone in this. So it seems like Rainsong is cutting out a good portion of its potential clientel by only offering one type of neck. How about a thinner wider neck with a truss rod?

  • @bogart5131
    @bogart5131 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    So that guitar has trust rod?

    • @theshapeexists
      @theshapeexists 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I dont see why it would need one. Carbon fiber is super stiff. After some research on their website, it says only a few models have truss rods for the sole reason to add the customization of neck relief. They're built so precisely and so stiff, they can afford to have much lower action without risk of buzzing or twisting due to temperature and humidity conditions.

    carbon fibre - great high tech hardy material but the lakewood guitars sounded nicer. a bit too bright. sounded like one of my thin laminate guitar that resonates like crazy

    The neck side strap button is at the wrongest place possible, specially when you use "strap locking".
    Believe me ... when you finish a gig with a big bruise on the palm of your hand 'cause you've jumped to the upper frets and forgotten that the "strap lock" was on the way, you'll understand what I mean.
    Hey ! It's freaking carbon fiber ! the neck side strap button could easily be on the body side right above the neck, and everything would be fine, but, 'murican companies don't listen to customer's inputs ... and that's why they finally get b*tt f***ed by imports in the long run :D .
    These Rainsong guitars need stainless steel frets, a "relocated" neck side strap button, and modern locking tuners (for fast restring when touring) ... then they would finally be pretty close to perfect.
    I played a couple of these guitars, but for as long as previously mentioned upgrades aren't taken in consideration, well, I'll categorically refuse to purchase on of these "half backed" pseudo high end instruments :D .
    Meanwhile, I'll keep banging on my trusty Godin Multiac Nylon, gig after gig ... not perfect, but sounds and plays like a dream.
