I really LOVE the idea of the Pocket Prayer Quilt especially those for the military. I am a Gold Star Mom and I actually have some of my son's uniforms. I think I will make some of these PPQ's for his battle buddies.
@@cynthiadeslauriers2978 , I was asking because I am willing to send you 5 crosses with 5 Soldier Prayers for free, if you were interested. I know it’s been a year since you commented. Please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of your beloved son. I pray you were able to make the sweet PPQs for his buddies. God bless and comfort you.
They sew can be, yes! And you could go even further and personalize them to the person receiving them. They do give comfort and touch people's hearts when they receive them. They also touch the person who makes them. It is one of those projects that truly spread beauty and joy all the way around. Thank you for taking the time to comment. You have made us all think about the beautiful "why" of quilting when we read your comment.
I'm so glad I found your page today! I truly needed to learn about these. I have some of my son's military uniforms and am going to make pocket prayer quilts for our troops and veterans, along with making some for family and friends, new and old! God Bless!
It was my pleasure! That machine, in this video, actually got struck by lightening! The lightening bolt was in the house, and took out everything in the room (including a sewing machine that was in its case). However, we bought another one. It is the better/newer model of the one you see. Great machine made by Juki! Thanks for tuning in and happy quilting to you!

You cracked me up using your hemostats! Is there any nurse that sews and doesn’t use them, lol. My friend, a former NICU nurse also carries her circumcision scissors around with her also. Always fun to watch non medical people turn green when she hauls those out. Great video, loved the tutorial.

When not having the “purple thing”… just use a chopstick, a long toothpick (the ones used for appetizers) or even a small size crochet hook. Being more creative keeps us less frustrated 😊 I like your idea of using hemostats for turning, I’ve been using tweezers, they work good too. 👍 Thanks for the video 🙏

You are correct! I didn't trim the corners. As I didn't use any batting and the project is super small, I felt it wasn't necessary. There just wasn't a ton of bulk. However, we, as quilters, do what brings us joy. There is absolutely nothing wrong with either method! Thank you for sharing your thoughts, as some people will want to do that. Thank you also for the compliment, and thank you for stopping by!! Happy Quilting!

If you desire to make a quilt sandwich, use a piece of muslin for the 'batting' or a light scrap piece.
an afterthought to comment-I tie the cross on the outside center with embroidery floss using chenille needle & pin the prayer to back of the 'quilt'.
