Happy New Year from HALO!!! A Trunk Show from 2022!
Great demo! I just realized that British knickers are American panties, which is why there is another name for the knot --the lingerie knot.
Brilliant thinking! Glad you found it a great demo! I enjoyed making this video! Happy EPPing! -Angel
Thanks, Angel. I made 2 churn dash blocks for you today. I'll stop by the shop and drop them off soon.
That is sew awesome! Thank you so much!
do you want them to be reds/whites?
We would like any color you want!!! If you watch the live, Michael's is with a black background with colorful fabric. It is in the idea to either use the scraps you have on hand that you have enough of, or put a little of you in it to add to the quilt's story. Have fun is the bottom line! Happy Quilting! Cannot wait to see your block!-Angel
Should the fabrics be prewashed?
We do not pre wash our fabrics. However, as some people do, some people starch, and some people just iron, I am sure we will get a moshe podge. Therefore, do what makes you comfortable. Thanks for asking, and we look forward to seeing your block! Happy Quilting!
I double up the wrap n zap batting.
Great suggestion. Thank you
Hi! I’m getting ready to make some bowl cozy’s and I wanted to know if you pre-wash your fabric??
That is a great question! I do not prewash my fabrics. Happy Bowl Cozy quilting!
I’ve made 2 already. But I will be making a third one using royal nights. Using layer cakes. I ordered two layer cakes. Hopefully I will have enough. I can’t wait until it comes in 😊
@@deliaramirez6044 love the royal nights 10" squares! It is a beautiful line! What a fantastic idea! Would love to see it! Ty for sharing and happy quilting to you!
Thank you for sharing this different approach to the Hunters Star. I like the block and have been deciding what technique to use.
You are sew welcome! Let us know which one you choose.
So, is this flour basting spray archival? I researched on the internet and found some said it was, and one said it was not! I need to know because I am sewing an heirloom quilt and don't want to use anything that is not archival. What is your take on this? Thanks, Jan.
Do you plan on washing it after you finish it? Alcohol can break down fabric. Personally, I would either have it longarmed or I would thread baste it if I was super concerned about it. Those methods do not add any chemicals to the quilt. Happy quilting!
Hello! I thoroughly enjoyed your video. Your teaching technique is awesome. You not only teach the how bu, more importantly, the why. You also give us encouragement to use the best method that works for each of us. Sometimes that requires viewing a variety of techniques and methods to learn what will work, and you encourage that. Thank you. Happy Holidays!
You are sew welcome! We believe there are no rules in quilting, only guidelines. We are glad to help. Thank you
Some of you are so critical of others, why don’t you just leave the video…I’ve made many of these cozies and it’s my least favorite project simply because of arthritis in my fingers and it’s difficult to turn inside out.
Thank you for your kind words. It is hard to not feel the same way but everyone has their own opinion. Please stop by again.
You seem like such a kind sweet person. Thank you for your videos.
Ahhh. That is sew sweet. Thank you for watching.
Girl, you need a couple folding tables to get you up off that floor. It makes my knees hurt just watching you.
Love your shop and y’all!, thank you for the comments!!❤
You are sew welcome!
I do want to try your method. Thanks again. Trying the original method is a headache.
You are sew welcome. Thank you for stopping by
Hi Thank you for sharing this method. But how would you do the original method of taking a square and cut it in diamond and triangle
That is a question that I believe requires a longer conversation than a small comment. However, I would use a specific ruler for it to get the precise cuts needed. I, personally, look for easier methods to do things. Saying that, I am also designing a FPP version of this beautiful quilt pattern. That should come out as a video in the future! Have fun making your Hunter Star! We truly hope you enjoy the method in this video! Happy Quilting! -Angel
Very pretty fabric choice . I don't think I've seen this technique . You did a great job explaining for my brain 😊 Thank you for the new technique to try 🥰 xoxo
You are sew welcome. Let us know what you think when you try it.
Thank you for sharing
You are sew welcome. Thank you for stopping by.
Love the wine fabric color
Yes it is beautiful. The entire line is amazing
Great video❤
Thank you!!
so sorry I missed the live.. watching tonight
We missed you!
Chalk works well for lines
Yes it does. Thank you for stopping by
If the zap batting is so pricey and hard to find, I wonder if several layers of nice cotton flannel would be a good substitute??? I will try it.
Great idea! Please let us know the results. Thank you for stopping by.
Loved your video… may i ask what machine youre using…its pleasant sounding!
Thank you for stopping by. The sewing machine used is a Singer Quantum Stylist
Hello first time watching..where did you get the crosses? Thank you.
@stephaniequenneville6933 , we sell them at haloinspired.com. We are currently out of stock, but we should have more in the next couple of weeks. Thanks for asking, and thanks for stopping by!
Love this quilt. Visually, it has a richness almost toward velvet.
Thank you sew much ❤️ the colors are very beautiful.
Why don't the spray, spray like yours. Mine sprays 1 thick lin
Maybe your sprayer? Also, I have to shake as I spray.
@@HALO_Inspirations with water it sprays normal but with this stuff not. I Shake it well. Maybe its my sprayer. I can check. Thanks for the fast answer
Why when I spray it is thick and not spray like . I used the same thing you said. And when I use water it does spray, with this stuff it only sprays 1 thick line.
I also got to thinking a bit about this. Maybe you need to add a bit of water or rubbing alcohol to thin it a bit? It is thicker than water for sure, but not so thick that it won't spray.
@@HALO_Inspirations thank you
She also embroider/quilted around images….
She sounds very talented!!
My freind did a snail tail border-looked great! I call them witches toes🤓🤩
Love it!! That is brilliant!! Witches' toes is too funny!!😂
If I am using a 10” square do I need to quilt the squares?
This is just a demo on using fusible batting. I ended up using it for practicing free motion. I was just trying to show you how fusible batting works. Normally, you would build a quilt sandwhich: a quilt topper, fusible batting in the middle, and backing on the back. This truly is just a sample.
Thank you for the quick response. I’m using fusible batting for 10” squares. I just wanted to know if it was necessary to quilt the squares since you mentioned quilting no more than 4” apart. Also what happens to the fusible batting when washed? Does the glue wash away?
@@yappy77 It depends on the brand of batting. You will have to look at the package. Hobbs is 4" apart and is dual sided fusible. If you were using Hobbs, then yes, you would need to quilt more. If you were using Quilter's Dream, it is 8" apart and is fusible on one side. Therefore, you would again have to quilt more. There are a ton of companies that make fusible batting. Therefore, you will have to check the package. You also have to check the package on washing instructions, too. Both Hobbs and Quilter's Dream wash out. However, other companies may be different. When in doubt, check the package. The end of the video, I do talk about pros and cons with Hobbs, and I do talk about washing Hobbs batting. Happy Quilting!
@@HALO_Inspirations thank you 😊
Great job; however, we older gals will find it more difficult to get down on the floor. Can you show us an alternative method?
To be honest, I really don't like the floor either. We will think about alternative methods, and add it to the list of future videos! Thank you "sew" much for your suggestion!! Happy Quilting!
Thanks for sharing,
Thanks for watching!
Thanks…
Do you realize how often you say "It's not the end of the world, if you don't". ? A LOT..you say it a LOT. so annoying after the first time.
It truly isn't the end of the world that I do that 😊 Thank you for stopping by and your feedback!! Happy quilting!!!
Wow, not nice.
So many Debbie Downers out there to deal with. Truly not the end of the world, time for them to focus on being happy. When I don't like a presenters voice or tics I just move on to another video. It's that easy. If they are long winded and too slow I speed up the video, sometimes that makes for comic relief. I have a snarky sense of humor so they wouldn't like me at all. I find you Inspirational ! Happy New Year
The Smokey Bear quilt top is a free Fat Quarter Shop pattern.
Thank you Cherina
missed the live. with notification on..
I missed it also.
Sorry we missed you. Hopefully we will see you the next time
Do you use a different needle other than a 90? I used glue first time and sewed down middle of binding not in the ditch. Now I need to take machine on for service. It isn’t working right. I don’t know if it was the glue or something else? But it was fine for piecing.
Oh my that is terrible. Did you use Roxanne glue? Did you let it dry? It is a great product and is meant to use with your sewing projects. Other glues could gum up your needle and possibly damage your machine. Good luck with your machine.
I know this video is 3 years old and this comment isn't all about the prayer quilt, love all of that that content. But I just have to comment on your beautiful skin and hair!!! Flawless and glowing skin and your hair is amazing!!! Do you take anything? Thank you for this inspiring video ❤💞💕💓💕💞❤
TY. That is nice of you. I'll be honest, sometimes the camera does all the work.
I reserched whether 100 o/o

Awesome
Beautiful runner ! You are so smart ! I wish when I learned it was a project provided style. instead of the random blocks & I was lacking knowledge to do more . My quilty imagination has came a long way since then . I like the size too , 18x 34. I also appreciate that you are coming from a fabric store owning view with giving fabric measurements and at the same time understanding some may not want to add to their stash . and it's make a great boarder just the square in square ... oh no , Now I'm thinking I need to do that . I planned flying geese boarder on something . Thank you for the ideas ! I know how to do this but still enjoy seeing how you teach it 🥰🥰 I'll try not to keep spamming but I'm only 9 minutes in . name... Shattered Rainbow .. I can do better maybe lol
Would you believe I forgot what the thin side of the ruler was for 😩 I need a 6" add a quarter eventually. I find the smaller one easier in a smooshed space with the sizes I like to do fpp in .
Love shattered rainbow. ❤️. Keep thinking. Love your ideas.
So very nice and comfort to those who are receiving the prayer pockets
They sew can be, yes! And you could go even further and personalize them to the person receiving them. They do give comfort and touch people's hearts when they receive them. They also touch the person who makes them. It is one of those projects that truly spread beauty and joy all the way around. Thank you for taking the time to comment. You have made us all think about the beautiful "why" of quilting when we read your comment.
I do the math too & ugh lol I need to do some more now that you have the poly . BTW I see you have the 60wt bottom line cheaper than where I usually buy. trading my link out for halos place ;) I appreciate that you do have affordable for me 🥰🥰 sorry for spam you just say things I want to chime in on LOL
No sorry is needed. Your opinion is sew important. You always make my day 😁
I missed the best shop show & tell 😭😭.THE 2 " FPP 😯😯😍😍 I saw the 6" & missed the smaller one , wish I'd had it the other day . OMGOSH ! I need to go shopping... again lol. Have you been reading my mind lol, the cut in half square in square for flying geese , has crossed my mind but came to the same conclusion about the seam allowance . I sat the alarm on my phone for next week ;)
I take blocks with me sometimes to the fabric shop locally to see what I want :) Hubby made fun of me, I was like, trust me they don't mind 😘 ( You mentioned taking the cards with you to choose fabric) Quilters: Nosey by nature 😆😆 I shop thread like you, holding it up to the screen . I understand colors maybe off soooo I take the risk . I like the sorting by color for the thread . Honestly if I was a big Auriful thread buyer I would splurge for the swatch cards .
Yes, set that alarm. Hope you are there next week.
I shop online for my thread, my quilt shop doesn’t carry thread. I need that swatch card.
It is a very good tool Laurie, especially if you buy thread on line. The cards have the actual thread not painted colors.
You can do your birth year. It is harder to get temp info if you live in a small town.
