      That's an interesting criteria you bring up there. As a non-cineast I find it hard to differentiate between what can be credited to the directing and what to the acting. How do you differentiate there?

    • @kassiogomes8498

      @@commentor93 Directing isn't only about the acting.
      Yes, directors tell what the actors have to do, but they do so many more things. Director is like the boss of everyone, he/she will tell the production how they want something and they production team will work to get what the director wants.
      But when someone is watching a movie and say that the directing was good. It means the camera angles were good, the way the camera moves is precise, directing is about when to do a close up, or when to do a long shot, or when use a handheld camera or a steady camera, etc. Things like these.

      @@kassiogomes8498 Isn't the creativity with and the directing of the camera also the job of the cameramen like Roger Deakins? How does the academy distinguish between them, in your opinion?

    • @kassiogomes8498
      @kassiogomes8498 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@commentor93 yes, the cinematographer is responsible for filming the movie, but he doesn't decide how the scene will be filmed. For example, if there is a scene of a character running, the director will decide if that scene will be filmed with the camera behind the actor or with the camera besides the actor, the director will also decides, or in front of the actor, the director will decide if the camera will film the running scene is in a track or in if it will be handheld.
      After these decisions the cinematographer will do what the director said and he will frame the scene the best way possible. The cinematographer will make sure the focus of the camera is in the right object, and she/he will adjust the lights on set.
