I first saw her in "The Help" and thought she was laid back and didn't quite understand her nomination at the 84th Academy Awards back then until I saw her other works and screamed "THIS LADY HAS GOT RANGE !!!" and I understood why she earned that Oscar nomination. she was very brilliant in Molly's Game, Zero Dark Thirty and Miss Sloane. This is one actress who had been overlooked by the Academy and I am GENUINELY GLAD that she finally got this recognition. I do not know her personally but I feel like I have won as well (because of her win) even though I am only a lover of movies myself and not a movie maker. That is how happy I am about her win.

Jessica has always given 110% in all of her roles. I was so happy for her this year. This was such a well-deserved win, and she truly is a sweet soul. If Lucasfilm ever brings back the Star Wars character of Mara Jade, they should just offer the role directly to Jessica. I get the sense that Chastain won based on industry respect rather than the performance (which is a solid performance in a mediocre film). I think Stewart's win was the nomination, as the Academy has been cool towards her for years. She's done solid work in indies and has worked with auteurs, which isn't really up the academy's alley, unfortunately. I'd have given Cruz the Oscar, but Stewart is a close second to me.

I finally saw this movie and have to say it was so well done, was intelligent, not crass, but respectful and Jessica Chastain embodied so well the Tammy Fay I remember. I'm glad she won.

Emmanuelle Riva was better than Chastain and Lawrence. What she was doing in Amour was incredible, but the Academy rarely gives awards to foreign stars, sadly. I'd put Chastain second though. Lawrence didn't belong among the nominees, but her star power was at its peak then

Jessica has always given 110% in all of her roles. I was so happy for her this year. This was such a well-deserved win, and she truly is a sweet soul. If Lucasfilm ever brings back the Star Wars character of Mara Jade, they should just offer the role directly to Jessica. She is spot-on appearance-wise to Mara, and is one of the very best actresses of her generation.
All her movies and acting are spectacular! Im glad she was finally recognized! I like Miss Sloane, The Debt...would love to see all her movies.

I get the sense that Chastain won based on industry respect rather than the performance (which is a solid performance in a mediocre film). I think Stewart's win was the nomination, as the Academy has been cool towards her for years. She's done solid work in indies and has worked with auteurs, which isn't really up the academy's alley, unfortunately. I'd have given Cruz the Oscar, but Stewart is a close second to me.
