I was out there. It was my first time back in Boston after 20 years. All I remember was that it rained and they gave out ponchos. I remember lots of skinny, in shape, exhausted and freezing people wearing ponchos and shivering. Lol inspirational, though!
Watching that I became so happy for you! The more I watched the more overjoyed I got! In every single shot of you, you were smiling! You have the biggest smile & I kept thinking, Oh he's so happy!! I'm so happy your dream came true! It was a beautiful video, thank you for sharing your amazing journey with us. So what's next for you? (You've probably already done it since I'm writing this 7 yrs after the fact) Oh! Where did you finish??
Thank you Sue 😀 I just ran my 20th marathon few months ago! I now run a bit slower but keep on running and my kids, 8 and 10 are now running too. Not sure if I will run Boston again in the next years but it still is on my mind every time I prepare a marathon. Ps I finished with a 3:26 overall 6,296th on a 26610 runners field
I'm running my first Boston this year in 2017, and I must say that this video really captures the purest essence of every Boston-inspired runner's dedication, passion, and the ultimate dream. Your genuine smile while putting on your jacket says it all. Congratulations and well done, Mr. Carl!! Hope you are coming back to Boston many more times in the future!

I live near Toronto and got back into running in May 2020 after being away from the sport for 11 years. Ran Scotiabank Toronto Marathon in 2009 and wanted to qualify for Boston but missed out by 9 minutes. Now at the age of 51 and after a year of running, I feel like I am a stronger runner now than at 39. I will be running the Calgary Marathon in September and hope to qualify for Boston there. If I actually make to the Boston starting line, I might actually cry. Hope you are still running....all the best!
