    I ran my very first Boston Marathon on April 15, 2024… I watched your video every single Monday for week after week after week! I listened & took notes & actually wrote notes on my hand in marker the morning before the race. I followed it perfectly! I kept my pace over the first 10 miles as everyone was blazing past me! I had no problem on the Newton Hills…. People were walking but I was running & smiling. On mile 22 “I showed the world who I was”! My last 5 miles were my fastest! I was passing runner after runner after runner ….I negatived split my half’s! It was the most wonderful marathon experience ever! I’m 66 years old & my time was 3:50:57. 1:57 first half & 1:54 second half! Ohhh and it was 70 degrees & full fun when I started & just got hotter as we went! Thank you for this video! Could not have done it without you! Thank you Coach Jeff 🦄🙌🏃‍♀️⭐️💛💙 #Boston2025

    Great info! Watched this 10x+ for my first Boston in 2021 and implemented it in my race. Let the course generate my pace in the first half and ran steady to the end to BQ at Boston.

    I am flying from the UK tomorrow to run this great race and this has been very helpful! It's only my second marathon and the first one I did was flat, so your advice is great. Many Thanks!

    I think one thing that is often missed or not mentioned are the smaller hills that can beat you up unexpectedly the one coming out of Newton Lower falls that crosses 128 and the one in the last two miles as you are in Boston proper that also crosses over the highway so be ready for those.

    Coach Jeff, these are great tips! Certainly hoping to run Boston. Should have seen your video before NY. Maybe a tip from you about NY will be great.
    Really true, conserve your energy on the first half. Burnt out too fast up the Verrazano. 1 minute ahead of target pace. Don’t be a hero. Rain set in. All wet. After the 16th mile, legs gone. Walked at 5th Avenue. Let all the time advantage go. Want to come back to beat that slope Monster again.
    Kudos to you coach Jeff!

    I have run Boston before. Those last 5 miles were very unpleasant for me. I plan to use your approach in April. I hope you are a running coach because you have talent . Video has me pumped up for the race, but I still have to wait three weeks.

    Thanks for the video! Even as someone running 5.8 - 6.2 miles an hour, I found this very helpful and informative for my first Boston Marathon. Which is also my first Marathon.... Very anxious.

    I did Boston. Wasn't a big deal compared to all the off road ultra marathons I do. The 'hills' at Boston seem like mole hills to me.

    People are struggling in Boston because they arrive at the race unprepared. As a good test, unfortunately how many people can train the following workout 10 days before Boston: 3x 5km at MP with 800 recover at 1 min slower (for example 6:40 pace is your MP and 800 recovery at 7:40) Not many...This is what I believe. A lot of stress bc people are afraid to fail and also bc they are not prepared. There is no way you aim for a sub 3 and you are done at mile 21 and then you blame the hilly course etc

    thanks excelet video!. The question I have is at what pace to do the uphill? what is recommended? When I run Boston I was conservative on the descents, I ran them at the target pace, but I did the uphill at the same target pace and I think that killed my legs.

    • @prsfit
      @prsfit  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thats exactly what killed your legs. Learning how to realx on the rollers going up keeps you strong coming down. The downs always give you pace back without work
