സ്കൂളിൽ പഠിക്കുന്ന കാലത്ത് ഏതോ ഉത്സവകാലത്താണ് ടീവിയിൽ മമ്മൂട്ടിയുടെ ഒരു ഇന്റർവ്യൂ ആദ്യമായി കാണുന്നത്. മമ്മൂട്ടി ആരാണെന്നുള്ള ചോദ്യത്തിന് രസകരമായ ഒരുത്തരം മമ്മൂട്ടിയുടേതായ രീതിയിൽ കേട്ടു. അത് വരെ മമ്മൂട്ടി എനിക്ക് സെന്റിമെന്റ്സും ദേഷ്യവും നന്നായി കൈ കാര്യം ചെയ്യുന്ന നല്ല ഡയലോഗ് ഡെലിവറി നടത്തുന്ന പൌരുഷമുള്ള സുന്ദരനായ നടൻ മാത്രമായിരുന്നു. പക്ഷെ അന്ന് പ്രിയപ്പെട്ട ഒരു നടനോടുള്ള ആരാധന, നന്നായി സംസാരിക്കുന്ന നല്ല കാഴ്ചപ്പാടുള്ള, വ്യക്തിത്വമുള്ള ഒരാളോടുള്ള, ബഹുമാനം കൂടി ആയി മാറി. പിന്നീടും ഒരുപാട് അഭിമുഖങ്ങൾ കണ്ടു. ചോദ്യങ്ങളുടെ നിലവാരത്തിനു അനുസൃതമായ ഉത്തരങ്ങൾ നല്കാനും രസിപ്പിക്കാനും അദ്ദേഹത്തിനുള്ള കഴിവും അഭിനയത്തോടും സിനിമയോടും ഉള്ള അഭിനേവശവും ഇന്നും മാറാതെ നിൽക്കുന്നു. വയസാകാൻ കൂട്ടാക്കാത്ത ആ മനസിന്റെ ശരീരത്തിന് പ്രായം കുറഞ്ഞു കാണുന്നതിൽ അത്ഭുതമില്ല. ആരാധനയും ബഹുമാനവും കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടേ ഇരിക്കുന്നു. സിനിമകൾക്കും അഭിമുഖങ്ങൾക്കുമായി കാത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.
