Had one. Sold it, bought it again and then traded it for a 2203X. That amp could do almost anything. Such a unique tone and it sounded amazing through almost any cab. Orange makes great stuff.
Had a Crush series combo and now own the fantastic Rocker 15, great stuff indeed. Owned a Vox AC30 and Fender Blues Jr. and the Orange is my favorite out of the three tube amps.
@@Unholygamewinner no real comparison. The Orange was fatter, had better low end and more gain. The JCM sounded great, but that Orange was super versatile. The clean channel was an added bonus!
@@chrisday5341well no shit. Stock 2203x sucks. Get that 2203 a decent ot transformer, and kt77 powertubes. Makes it a totally different beast. Or just sell it, and get a proper jmp 2203.
No joke ive got this amp its amazing id never sell it. I pair it with a podhd500 and it will do literally any genre perfectly. The reverb and the cleans are the best ive ever heard, but if you use a pedal its amazing for metal too!!!!
A Rockerverb is what I wanted, so I got the Jim Root terror haha. It gets the job done, Jim is my favorite player so it all worked out. Love your vids and the riffs!
The new MKIII sounds and feels very different to the MKI. If you want to get that tone u need to buy a used one. In Germany and England you can get one for around 500-700 Euro if you wait for a good deal. But I think in the US it could be more
This amp has 6V6 power tubes as Fender Deluxe Reverb has. The Overdrive sound doesn't remind me a british classic sound. I don't know what is the concept of the amp, maybe a fender with high gain. What do you think it is?
I'd say the clean channel is quite like the TH30, the dirty channel is a bit of a chameleon. It can get the OR15 low-mid gain sounds but also has stupid amounts of gain and is my favourite Orange for high gain. Very cool amp 👍
@@TobysGuitarGearDemos I find it almost sounds tighter in the distortion than the average orange amp sound. Would be better for metal possibly. Clean channel is gorgeous.
Quick question- since there are no gigs now, and don't seem to be for the foreseeable future (and even then it will be small venues), is this amp liveable for home rehearsal/small studio recording, or is it just to damned loud for that? There's a Mk1 combo for sale not far from me, but up to now I had been zeroing in on one of the iterations of the Rocker Terror 15 (Classic/Dark/Brent Hinds) or the Rocker 32 stereo combo (same power concern there though). It will be my first foray into the land of Orange from Fender Twins and HDX, neither of which can get warm enough to sound good in a small space without deafening the player :) .
Everything Orange makes sounds good at low volumes, they have volume knobs that work with a decent taper in the low registers unlike some other amps. Anything should be good, however the newer Rocker + BH have the bedroom mode which gives you even better quiet sounds. One thing to be aware of is the older Orange amps like the RV50 Mk1 have an FX loop that when used at super low volumes will add a bit of hiss. When you turn the amp up it goes away, but is something to consider 👍
@@TobysGuitarGearDemos excellent, thanks for the feedback. Loud enough for small venue live performance? (we can all dream a little dream of returning to that, can't we :-) )
Hey, what did you end up deciding? I’m in the same situation ; there is a used Mk1 combo for sale near me! Still hesitating between that or buying a brand new Rocker 32, or even a brand new Mk3 combo if I can find one, it seems they are discontinued.
V30 loaded Harley Benton 2x12. The cheapest cabinet I could find with v30s. One of the best purchases I’ve ever made 👍 . I’ve also played a Rockerverb through the Orange vertical cab and thought that thing sounded great as well
Hi Toby, my Rocker 15 terror, makes a little buzz that disappears in "Badrooom" mode do you remember if this is normal? or do I have a defective model? thanks Hello Lele
Hmm, doesn't sound normal. I would e-mail Orange and attach a video from your phone of the buzz, also show in the video how it stops in bedroom mode. Hopefully you can get it sorted 👍
It doesn't seem normal to me either, the buzzing is annoying, luck is still under warranty and I can bring it back to the dealer, thanks you were kind, hello Lele
@@TobysGuitarGearDemos I did as I have a RV MKI 50 head and my bandmate a MKII. I found the MKII a little harsh and more boomy on the cleans (could be the open 2x12 cab /vs my closed 2x12). Yet, I think if the 6V6 tubes in the MKI 50 are more musical. Maybe I'm just a sucker for 6V6's.
The amps flexibility with power amp tubes is a win win.
The High Gain Setting, is where this amp really shines, that an the unbelivable Clean chanel that no Marshall can recreate
Excellent effects loop too!
I say it every time, but these really are the best reviews on TH-cam. No nonsense and let's you decide
I own a rockerverb 50 mk1 w/ Orange ppc412 and a Bogner ecstasy half stack. Neither are going anywhere. Amazing amps
Looking at my own MK1 all battered with only three knobs remaining. I really need to fire that thing up again!.
Finally a decent sounding demo of this amp.. awesome man !

It 100% was lol

Karnivool New Day!? Hell yes!
Was that Nude by Radiohead you were playing during the clean demonstration?? Love it.
Sounds great. I wonder if the MKIII kept with the same circuit and just added some features. I think that might be the case.
Kill me but that Tele HB sounds better than the Fender one.

nice karnivool riff
You should try the mkiii, it is even better on every aspect
doesnt have as good of clean chanel as the mkI though
