I have been involved in harness racing since 1970. Herve is one of the all time greats if not THE best. I LOVED this video!!!! The younger drivers nowadays could learn from his expertise!
Herve had the best hands...the whip was for show usually. The only one earlier on with hands that could get as much our of a horse was Buddy Gilmore in his prime. As for not being able to carry Walter Cases jock strap as one post reads, everyone has their opinion, but remember this. Herve was racing for 2nd more than he was racing to win, so when you see his wins, remember that. And he would run over his own money, but usually didn't since he was so good at judging distance and where the wire was....he helped guys out on the track he knew needed money for bills and although he did have a gambling problem himself, as others did, I think when Capitol Hill Farms burned down, it ripped his heart out. The difference between him and other catch drivers is he was an INCREDIBLE horseman!!! He would tell trainers where the horse is off and what to do after the race and they would listen. Case and others might say something to the trainer, but usually it was a guess. Herve knew how to fix things. He was a horseman first, and driver second no matter how good he was at driving.
We love herv

Case was the best on a half mile.
There will never be another Herve! File that!
Yes....no one fixed the races any better ❤
@@ramon3964 Wrong. He had lots of competition there.
@@clydeb7713I personally got to curse him out on a weekly basis. And let's not forget his brother Henri....the other great fixer
If you guys like harness racing, you should come to Sweden and watch some! :-)
hes retired now. he was a multimillionare at one time but got hard into the gambling aspect.
Carmine, Herve,Wojcio and Marohn in one race?....oye vey!
All thieves
Well... If you ever come to Sweden, it's just to give me a shout! :-)
cool video
This is great, have anything else?
Rip my grandpa died
Someone asked what track it is. It's Yonkers.
This was far from the first time Mr. Filion was mic'ed up!
Won over 15,000 races. Imagine how many he would have won if he didn't "stiff" his horse every other race !
lol how would you know
Yonkers, of course...
why dont you show miked up from some of the races he fixed so we can see that
it was cool the way Herve knew that the one horse was going to break before it happened...what track was this filmed at?
steven lennon ....yonkers
Why on earth would Wojo pull the pocket on that race, against a 2/5 shot ? He was so bad!!! That's why he's washed up at CalExpo racing for $2500 now.
Cool video.
It is funny though, the greatest driver ever had to fix races.
Concentrate on being 3rd
Lol
Worst drive ever by Richard Wojcio. Pulls the pockect. What a clown!
Not if he played 2-4
lots of games played back then, That's why harness racing has gone down.
