Wow, your channel is perfect for showing people who are looking into this.:))) I too am a non-traditional student who's been taking prereqs to go into pharmacy school. Pharm school is similar that you can get your undergrad in anything but still requires the lengthy math and science prereqs (chem, ochem, anatomy, physics etc) My undergrad is in art and been going to CC taking the science and math prereqs. Someone brought this up to me recently and now I'm looking into it. Awesome channel deserves more views❤🎉

Thank you for taking the time to film these videos Chabely. If it wasn't for your channel, I wouldn't have made the decision to seek out shadowing. I had the best shadowing experience with the CAA team at your hospital, and I'm happy to say that I've submitted my application for AA school. Maybe you'll see me as a first-year student in Tampa :)

Hi Chabely! As far as I can tell, I am in the exact situation (Finance degree, 2years after graduation looking to possibly become CAA). Just wondering if there is anyway I could get in contact with the guest in your video here? Or if there is someone else you could connect me with. Thank you! Coming across your channel might be what gets me doing work I enjoy!

This is really encouraging. I am r really interested in this program and I have a business background as well and feel unfulfilled. I would probably require two years of prerequisites. I only have English from undergrad. I also was never strong in STEM and am 31. It seems like a big mountain in front of me but I keep coming back to these thoughts about getting into healthcare.

Hi Chabely! I love your channel, it has been very informative and amazing to see what you do! Can you talk a little about how you manage stress as a CAA and what it’s like handling such a huge responsibility in your profession? How you handle critical moments when a patient is having an adverse reaction to anesthesia and do those situations come up often?

I am stuck between two majors to become a perfusionist/A.A.
    1. Biology
    2. Respiratory therapy
The reason I’d choose biology is because it eliminates grad school pre reqs within 4 years of working with lab science but based off Reddit is a “useless” degree on its own and leads to lab tech jobs or non-medical jobs like science teacher if grad school doesn’t work out
    2. I’m thinking about respiratory therapy because it allows me to have a backup plan w/o grad school and allows for clinical experience such as being an ECMO specialist (perfusionist role as an RT or Nurse) or a respiratory therapy job that can already allow me to administer certain general anesthetics through a ventilator like sevo/isoflurane etc for asthma related purposes. My only pet peeve is that the pre-reqs will take an additional 1-2 years to complete. Which do you think is the best personally? I did see your video on how you studied biochemistry for undergrad. Did you have any backup options you considered if you anticipated grad school not working out? Just wondering. Anyways, have a good day!

Great post as usual! Thanks!! As she mentioned, her sister had her loans taken care of (PSLF is what I'm assuming she was referring to, but please correct me if I'm wrong) do these institutions where that is available pay significantly less? ...where you could simply make-up the difference working the same hours in a higher paying employment opportunity (ie. Private hiring group/recruiters or other means.) Or are they close enough in reimbursement that it is worth it to work in a position where PSLF is an option? Thanks!

To take prerequisites while working, how she managed work hours? Can one self-study and do long distance studying and just give exams?
Do you know anyone from IT transitioning to this career and got accepted?
Anyone over 45 from IT background and career gap, successfully being able to transition? Let’s say if they finish prerequisite and then don’t get accepted it would waste all their time and efforts to complete prerequisite.

Hi, I am currently working on my prereqs as I have a BA. This Spring 2023 I took 3 classes, 12 units, and this summer I am taking 5 classes, 18 units. In the fall 2023 I'm thinking of taking only general chem 2 and physic 1 bc I'm giving birth to my second baby in November. In Spring 2024 I am thinking of doing O chem and physics 2. After that, I will still need: Calculus, Gen Bio 2, BioChem. I am thinking of taking some of the "recommended" classes after that like microbiology, physiology, o chem 2 if I have enough stamina. I plan to be done with all that by Fall 2024

The data on >440,000 patients shows that there are no statistically significant differences between an anesthesiologist assistant and a CRNA in the anesthesia care team regarding morbidity and mortality. CAAs and CRNAs are used interchangeably in the anesthesia care team with no notable differences.
You should still use a provider you feel most comfortable with but I hope that was informative.
