If you have come here to learn how to correctly change the oil on a RSV do not follow this video as it's wrong and missing important steps. 1 you must remove the engine drain plug on the rhs next to the oil filter cap 2. It's a very good idea to remove the oil tank screen and check it for any debris and clean it. The oil rubber pipe is connected to it. 3. Always use a new crush washer on the oil tank drain bolt and use a torque wrench or risk stripping the thread . 4. It's exactly 3.5 ltrs of oil when the whole system is drained. Then start and run for 1 min allowing the oil circuit to be filled. 5. You can't know the correct oil level now without riding the bike for at least 10 miles and getting the oil hot, then stand bike upright at idle and switch off and check. Done.
Great jobber with these videos, dude...and fabulous bike! I have an 01, in the red paint scheme, with high dual Renegade exhausts, but I have always had a weakness for the black ones! At any rate, congrats!
Did i not mention that in the vid?? Grrr, sorry,, yeah thats on the main oil tank.. if you look in the vid i had done most of mine prior to shooting the video and thats probably why i forgot. Cheers for pointing it out.
It should be very similar.. All oil changes are pretty straight forward to be honest.. Just use some common sense, and if in doubt get a manual. Thanks for the kind comment.
i own a tuono same engine as the rsv, shouldnt the oil level be checked when engine is turned on?Dry sump engine, these engine are a pain to get the correct oil level. to much oil and the oil collects in the airbox, the level should be just above min mark.
Hi, I have a 99 model RSV, and on my bike there is one more oil drain plug, located on the lower right side of the engine, a little further to the rear. Is it different on yours? I'm just writing it because when I drain the oil on mine, I always unscrew that one too. Or am I doing smth wrong?
Hi, I am trying to decide if I want to buy a 2001 Aprilia RSV Mille that's available needs some fuel system work and injectors cleaned according to a shop assessment.... the seller says it cranks runs good for a few minutes and dies... need both tires replaced too... asking $2200 as is..... same exact color bike you have.... how much should I offer for the bike maximum? Or should I buy or Run from it?
mmmm filter/engine drain plug not done, its magnetic and should be checked. Tank also has a wee filter in at the bottom where hose is, should be done also, all info easily found on Aprilia forums
