The attire is absolutely stunning. I’ve always wanted to integrate a traditional Vietnamese cultural element in my wedding because I’m Vietnamese, specifically the tea ceremony! 🍵 I think it was so sweet that your family planned and set up everything!! ❤️🧡💛
Amazing to see the traditions and beautiful decorations, you both looked gorgeous by the way!! Wonderful of you guys to do this for your family, happy it turned out well and that it's a great memory. ♥
Thank you for sharing your insights and clips with us. Ive heard of tea ceremonies so this was a real treat to see a vietnamese one. Your traditional clothes look beautiful 😍😍😍😍
I'm so excited for you guys!! I've been looking forward to seeing this since you posted trying on the clothes lol. You both looked great and you looked gorgeous!
I was born in europe, and same, i dont really feel like im a vietnamese. I usually feel uncomfortable around them, so i dont really have vietnamese friends. Sometimes i feel ashamed that i see myself as a “white” person, cuz its like im denying my ethnicity
I feel is very very very hard. I don't have many Viet friends either but I grew up in a small town in Ontario with like a grand total of 3 Viet families but we all went to separate schools lol. You are not alone! And you are still Vietnamese 😁
Thanks so much for sharing! I love learning about different cultures and traditions! Also when the smoke alarm went off my dog started looking around my room with a nervous look on her face 😂
You looked LOVELY in your ao dai and the traditional hat! (forget what it's called) So nice you had all those people do all that for you! My sis and I are only half-Viet; when my mother married she was newly-arrived and without her family in the States, so my father arranged their wedding (she didn't speak English and knew nothing of the U.S. still.) So we had no expectations put on us in terms of Viet customs, so neither of us did a tea ceremony, but we did put in a nod to Vietnamese culture during the actual wedding: my sister did an ao dai but in white, as to lessen the shock for her new in-laws, and had Viet food at the reception. I wanted a traditional ao dai similar to yours, as I think they're gorgeous, but didn't get one made as I was too chicken to have a big wedding, so I made sure I was dressed simply, wearing red. Best wishes!
Thank you so much for posting about this and sharing it with us! I'm really happy for you and also really grateful to learn about Vietnamese culture and tradition. It's super important, and you're super important! Keep on being badass
Hi Lisa & Eddie . . . (First off, who the FUCK would leave a "dislike" on this beautiful video!!!!??? I'll NEVER understand what motivates some STUPID, HATEFUL, THOUGHTLESS PEOPLE!!!)...OK, now that I got THAT outta my system (sorry, but I'm an HONEST & EXPRESSIVE old fart!), I gotta say, you two darlings, that I absolutely ADORED this video. (No, I'm not Viet and know nothing about the culture up to now. I'm Scottish, Irish, English and Greek.) For some reason (which I don't yet fully understand), your video, your explanations, the expressions on your faces and those of your family and friends, just GOT TO ME and I started crying and pretty much cried off & on through the entire video. It's just beautiful. I'm also not religious, in fact, I'm definitely an agnostic, but I'm an unusually LOVING human being, so expressions of love and respect between people touch me deeply. The other thing about this video is that with all the HORRENDOUS & HATEFUL, RACIST & BIGOTED bullshit happening in the USA (I'm a US citizen, living in Delaware, originally from DC/MD metro area) with immigration and all the HORRORS this FUCKING ASSHOLE PRESIDENT & his administration have caused and CONTINUE to cause with immigrants, especially, well, YOUR VIDEO is such a beautiful example of the wonderful cultural contributions to LIFE (i.e., to ALL of us, everywhere!) that ALL the various cultures & races offer. In that context, your video just touches me more deeply, thinking about how many immigrants are being abused & hated and lives negatively impacted daily, and that pains me terribly. MOST of us in the USA are descendants of various immigrants so I don't understand the bigotry, racism & hate of people like this fucking asshole TRUMP & the GOP. Anyway, your Tea Ceremony was just simply GORGEOUS and MOVING (even for an old-fart dyed-in-the-wool agnostic like me!), so THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing it with us! By the way, you two ALWAYS look beautiful to me (because you ARE both beautiful people, inside & out!!!), but you both were ESPECIALLY beautiful on this day....yes, Eddie, even YOU, you sexy thang...hahaha! What a GORGEOUS bride & groom!! Anyway, I just wanted to put in my "2 cents", and to thank you both for sharing it with total strangers like me. I don't know you but I ADORE both of you. I'm subscribed but don't always get around to watching every video (busy!), but I'm gonna check out your TH-cam Wedding video and Wedding Website and anything else I come across. Whatever does or does not happen to you in your life, just deeply, genuinely LOVING each other is the MOST important thing you can do, and that love will always extend from your union out to everybody else you have contact with. So I wish you more and more love.....sincerely and with love, Daryl
You look stunning! As always! I’m so impressed that you went through with it! Japanese weddings are also so complicated I could never go through with it. I would probably collapse with anxiety haha. You explained everything so well too! Xoxo
OMG I would love to see a Japanese wedding, I'm sure there is SO much tradition that would be exhausting but so amazing! haha. It's always more fun from the outside XD Being a part of those super complicated traditions is less fun for sure
The Viet Vegan 😂😂Totally! I am the worst representative of my culture though haha. If I mess up in front of people, I would just be confirming that thought in a way 😂😂 It is beautiful to watch as a spectator though!
Omg I love this! I hope I can have a vegan tea ceremony & wedding like this in the future! :’) You look so pretty & I hope your channel has more vegan viet foods! ❤️
What a beautiful tea ceremony! You two in your ao dai 😍 I wish I had had one, but we don't have enough family around for it. I was the tea pourer for my best friends Chinese tea ceremony. I received lucky money for it from each member of the family that received tea. We have so much in common! My mom is no longer in my life. That whole thing about feeling like an imposter has always been with me. I feel like one here in Saigon sometimes. It would be awesome to meet up and talk about all of the above. I move back to Portland, Oregon in June 😄
It's comforting to know I'm not the only one who feels this way. I definitely want to explore Portland sometime, so I'd love to chat about that one day ^_^
@@Thevietvegan You're definitely not! I've met so many Viet Kieus our age that feel just the same. That would be amazing ❤️❤️❤️ Would love to have you and Eddie over for brunch in our tiny house!
I would have suggested having a happy smiling piggy bank and everyone do donations towards a Farm Animal sanctuary or Saving a Farm Animal organization that was local.
So this might be a dumb question. Does the tea ceremony mean that you guys are married? Or is it something that you did and will have a western wedding also?
How or when did you sit down with your husband's family to teach and educate them on this part of the ceremony? Did you do the vietnamese ish reception with the videographer and everything too?
Our family is a bit spread out so everyone was kind of flying by the seat of their pants! I gave them a quick little run down, but mostly my family translated for Eddie’s family to guide them through the steps. The only video footage we got was from my brother, cousin, and one of my bridesmaids handling the camera haha. No videographer here!
What a lovely ceremony! Congratulations! I never had a tea ceremony for my wedding, my mom didn't want one because it was too much of a hassle and I respected that. In fact, I didn't even have a wedding. lol Just went to city hall and had dim sum afterwards. :) Many blessings to you two!
After doing all this planning I really do wish we kind of just eloped. It's a lot to handle haha. This one came from VN but my wedding dress is going to be made by Kym's Ao Dai
A bit of a personal question, but I'm curious if you ever find it challenging to post publicly knowing that your dad might see it, since he's not a part of your life. Whenever I toy with the idea of starting a channel (though I'm pretty sure that's not going to happen) I get stressed thinking of who might see it, ha.
I used to, I think that's another reason I hesitated to post any wedding details online. But my dad is kind of terrible at the internet last I saw him so aside from family members sharing with him I don't even think he knows I have a TH-cam channel
This was so interesting to see and it looked beautiful. I think it's great to uphold at least some traditions - if they're not hurting or exploiting someone of course - even if you don't actually hold the religious believe. It's just nice! (and lets be honest, probably most people who exchange gifts on Christmas aren't actually Christians lol) I don't have contact with the majority of my family and I'm soooo happy for you that you could celebrate with your friends instead. Blood is not always thicker than water ^^
Definitely I agree! The traditions are nice to be a part of! It's similar to when people get married in a church too, not everyone is religious but it is traditional haha.
Beautiful! My sister had three dresses on her wedding day: Chinese, Vietnamese, and American! The Viet one was very similar to your dress. My brother-in-law got away with wearing the same suit all day. I'm glad Eddie got the full outfit experience! Here's their wedding highlight video if you want to take a look! th-cam.com/video/5aJpenJjB5c/w-d-xo.html
Your sister's wedding was so beautiful!!! Thank you for sharing! It makes me wish I still was in touch with my dad's side of the family because they're exactly that kind of rowdy and fun ahha. Eddie was like, HEY HOW COME HE DIDN'T HAVE TO WEAR THE THING XD
I basically don't know why you'd want to get white people married after that. Why didn't you just bring the marriage certificate to sign to the Tea Ceremony?
4 years later congratz to you both. Your groom dressed more traditionally than most other Viet grooms which is refreshing!
You look so beautiful in your tea ceremony outfit 😭😭
Loved this!! What a wonderful family. I bet they had a blast getting it all ready for you both. You and Eddie looked great in the traditional garb. 💗💗
Everything was beautiful. I love how your family came together to make this happen for you guys.
They were amazing!
Thanks for explaining what a tea ceremony is. And thanks for sharing this with us.💖💖💖💖💖💖

Vietnamese vegan food is so bomb!! You are extremely lucky to have family to cook it for you!! Wishing you all the best!!
I'm very lucky :) Thank you!
