as the matter of fact, in Vietnam, it's extremely important to have the presentation of both parents from both bride and bridegroom. bride must be grateful for the sympathy when there is no conflict on having no official presentation of bride's parents at the time. besides, the couple would "repatriate" "cua hoi mon" (literally translated as engaged assets), which is offered assets mainly from bridegroom's parents (bride's parents could do as well, but bridegroom's ones are compulsory and might be insanely enormous), friends and acquaintances, so that the couple could have at least a fortune for starting up their family. Vietnamese family always appreciates the relationship, the fullness and happiness. World exists only due to love and loving people. And you’re the most beautiful example of it. Congratulations on the wedding!
I can relate a lot...because I married a White blond American. I have a lot of respect for you. You learned Vietnamese really well and among other thins, it demonstrate how much you love Huy....he is very blessed and hope he knows that and value you and love you for you deserve it. My wife tried but quitted after a few weeks because she said Vietnamese is too hard, and I know it is for Westerners. And off course you were stunning and as beautiful as any model, but better because most models are only pretty outside, but inside they are far behind compare to you. Keep it that way and grow better and best of wishes to you and Huy with many beautiful kids. Most Asian-White kids are beautiful but I noticed especially AMWF are really cute...I have two in college now and my daughter is 99% look like me when she was born but her looks changes as she grew up. Now she is like 50% and 50% but her personality is still 90% like me. My son is more like my wife 90% inside and out. I am very blessed because they turning out very good and caring human beings...because the inside are always more important to me. Best blessings with you and your family.

This is awesome, I am vietnamese and my wife is Peruvian and we had our wedding in america in 2013, tea ceremony in the morning and christian wedding in the afternoon, with the banquet afterwards, a lot of similarities and differences, definitely one big blur, and we also didnt get to try our cake =)

it was a lot of planning! but worth it, a lot of my family viet/chinese background have married very diverse people so it was a not such a shock to them that there would be two ceremonies. the planning was the key and having a fiance that was open minded to other cultures was key, I can see that you got that part nailed down. Here I am happily married for over 4 years with two young children, trying to teach them spanish, vietnamese, and english. My next step is trying to bring over my whole family to my mother land so they can see my roots. How about you, any children in the mix?
I actually had a Vietnamese-American algebra teacher with your last name for my first year of college. He also ran the astronomy club and was well versed in science and math. He was a very kind man and was married to a very kind white female. They had a young toddler. She was just the cutest. The Asian characteristics got expressed the most, you couldn't tell she was mixed. They were such a sweet, cute, and loving family.

Actually, for most Vietnamese weddings, the bride and groom don’t see each other until the actual ceremony. This is because it usually takes place at the brides house, but this is at the grooms home. It’s just a cute little detail for first look vibes at the ceremony but not necessary 😊

My wife is Vietnamese (from Hanoi) and we got married there a couple years after meeting in our 30s. It was a lovely and interesting experience for me. Most of the guests were from her side, of course, not many of my friends or family could participate because of the distance. But following the Vietnamese traditions was important for my wife and it's definitely an experience I'll treasure, too, because it was unique and different to me. Anyway, thanks for the good video.

Sure Audrey. My Vietnamese is limited, sadly, but I do have a good handle on Vietnamese culture and have become a great VN cook :p Communicating with my inlaws is still hard, I'm learning Vietnamese but it's a tough language. Before and after my wife and I were married, I lived in Hanoi (about 3 years). So I'm pretty adapted to Vietnam. Have you thought about living there? You should consider it. My wife was a professor at the big technical university in Vietnam, really amazing lady. In your case, it's less common to see a foreign woman marrying a Vietnamese guy. I think it's fantastic! I'd love to learn more about it. I'll keep tuned to this channel and maybe we can talk more as we have time.
Congrats on your wedding. In Vietnam, you are not supposed to see your groom/bride before tea ceremony. You will wait at your house and the groom's family will come over with the gift. Groom's father will have a speech first (basically like today is the good day, we would like to ask for my son to get married to your daughter...). Then your mom will come to your room and walk you out. I think because you don't live in Vietnam so you stayed at your husband house that why you guys got ready together.
Oh thanks for letting me know! I always just thought that it was normal to see each other on the wedding day. Your explanation makes a lot of sense. My wedding was far from the normal kind with all the different alterations due to me being a foreigner!

yeah, i think it's because you were by yourself so they just had to have you at the same place, there was no other way, they couldn't "rước dâu" (pick up the bride), so looks like just tea ceremony, personally i don't see anything wrong with that, you do what you have to do

Haha it took me a long time to say Ngan. Anything "Ng" was very hard for me at first, but now I have the last name Nguyen so I improved with that. I struggle with a lot of other aspects of Vietnamese though. Oh yes, karaoke! hahah Thanks for watching!!
Honey, in Việt Nam when you invite people to come to your wedding, the term literally mean that you invite them to come eat at your wedding, emphasize on the eat part 😂 so yeah mostly no dancing, whenever we hear someone just went to a wedding, the first thing we would ask them is "how was the food ?" 😝

Beautiful pre-wedding photos! And you looked resplendent too in the western white wedding gown. Vietnamese wedding ceremony looks similar to the Chinese one. Instead of liquor, we offer tea to the parents and in-laws. Going round to each table to say thank you to the guests is also a Chinese thing to do. Congrats!

Congratulations on your recent nuptial! You two make a cute couple and you found the rare Vietnamese that's tall! The only time I was at a Vietnamese wedding was for a high school friend here in California. They did the traditional asking her parents for her hand and brought a roast pig to give half to her family at her parent's house and then off to the church and then reception afterward. Probably a mixture of Vietnamese and American traditions.
Hi Quang. Thanks for watching! :) My wedding was actually a shortened version because normally there would be a whole separate ceremony at my parents home with some baskets with gifts but since my family is not Vietnamese we just did the "groom" half of the wedding.

Actually, for most Vietnamese weddings, the bride and groom don’t see each other until the actual ceremony. This is because it usually takes place at the brides house, but this is at the grooms home. It’s just a cute little detail for first look vibes at the ceremony but not necessary 😊

My wife is Vietnamese (from Hanoi) and we got married there a couple years after meeting in our 30s. It was a lovely and interesting experience for me. Most of the guests were from her side, of course, not many of my friends or family could participate because of the distance. But following the Vietnamese traditions was important for my wife and it's definitely an experience I'll treasure, too, because it was unique and different to me. Anyway, thanks for the good video.

Sure Audrey. My Vietnamese is limited, sadly, but I do have a good handle on Vietnamese culture and have become a great VN cook :p Communicating with my inlaws is still hard, I'm learning Vietnamese but it's a tough language. Before and after my wife and I were married, I lived in Hanoi (about 3 years). So I'm pretty adapted to Vietnam. Have you thought about living there? You should consider it. My wife was a professor at the big technical university in Vietnam, really amazing lady. In your case, it's less common to see a foreign woman marrying a Vietnamese guy. I think it's fantastic! I'd love to learn more about it. I'll keep tuned to this channel and maybe we can talk more as we have time.
Congrats on your wedding. In Vietnam, you are not supposed to see your groom/bride before tea ceremony. You will wait at your house and the groom's family will come over with the gift. Groom's father will have a speech first (basically like today is the good day, we would like to ask for my son to get married to your daughter...). Then your mom will come to your room and walk you out. I think because you don't live in Vietnam so you stayed at your husband house that why you guys got ready together.
Oh thanks for letting me know! I always just thought that it was normal to see each other on the wedding day. Your explanation makes a lot of sense. My wedding was far from the normal kind with all the different alterations due to me being a foreigner!

yeah, i think it's because you were by yourself so they just had to have you at the same place, there was no other way, they couldn't "rước dâu" (pick up the bride), so looks like just tea ceremony, personally i don't see anything wrong with that, you do what you have to do

Wow I'm quite impressed by the way you say the name Ngan correctly. Also, even though Viet people don't dance in weddings like people do in America, they do sign up for songs and sing on stage; that's actually pretty fun though. Great video btw. Keep it up!
Haha it took me a long time to say Ngan. Anything "Ng" was very hard for me at first, but now I have the last name Nguyen so I improved with that. I struggle with a lot of other aspects of Vietnamese though.

Honey, in Việt Nam when you invite people to come to your wedding, the term literally mean that you invite them to come eat at your wedding, emphasize on the eat part 😂 so yeah mostly no dancing, whenever we hear someone just went to a wedding, the first thing we would ask them is "how was the food ?" 😝

Isn't Vietnamese wedding very short compare to western countries ? if you don't add the morning ceremoy. We remember attending wedding in Vietnam. It was like celebrate at a restaurant, eat and everything is happening very fast?

Beautiful pre-wedding photos! And you looked resplendent too in the western white wedding gown. Vietnamese wedding ceremony looks similar to the Chinese one. Instead of liquor, we offer tea to the parents and in-laws. Going round to each table to say thank you to the guests is also a Chinese thing to do. Congrats!

The only time I was at a Vietnamese wedding was for a high school friend here in California. They did the traditional asking her parents for her hand and brought a roast pig to give half to her family at her parent's house and then off to the church and then reception afterward. Probably a mixture of Vietnamese and American traditions.
Hi Quang. Thanks for watching! :) My wedding was actually a shortened version because normally there would be a whole separate ceremony at my parents home with some baskets with gifts but since my family is not Vietnamese we just did the "groom" half of the wedding.
