Lol it was great to see how excited everyone was and especially your buddy who owns the car. More details on what went wrong would be helpful. Other videos on this install suggest it is super easy and takes an hour total....maybe not the case?
It really was a fun time! Honestly, the main issue we had was just find a way to take the downpipe off of the catback exhaust system (the stock exhaust), and also putting the new downpipe on the turbo. It was a super tight fit, and it required a lot of wiggling, persuading the pipe, and cursing at it. But, eventually we got the OEM one off, and the Project Gamma ome on. But, basically, the hardest parts and what "went wrong" was just finding a way to get the little downpipe clip off, and getting the downpipe off and on again.
I totally understand where you're coming from. It's not even just the sound, you gain a few extra horsepower! Of course, with a tune, you'll make even more of it. It really changes the car - it went from a small mouse to a raging lion. It seriously made a way bigger difference than everyone expected! I'd say you should look into it a little more. 😉
Very nice! I wonder if different downpipes sound different. I’m about to install a VRSF catless on my M340i and I’m really hoping it sounds like this and not any raspier. Raspiness was my main concern and one reason I’ve held off from installing it. This one does sound good tho. To top it off, I will be flashing to bm3 just shortly after the install, and I will select the cold start delete, just to lower the start up volume/rasp.
That's a good question, actually. I don't know! Maybe the diameter, length, and curvature all affect the sound. I'd love to hear the comparison between two or more different downpipe. The rasp is one thing many people try avoiding, but honestly, I personally love it. The cold start delete isn't my thing, but I can totally understand why you'd do that. No matter what you do, I can almost promise you'll love how it sounds. Thanks for watching!
@@MotoRevs yup, she’s on and it’s insane! It’s not tuned yet but for the stock sound of the car. It’s soooo aggressive and on top of that it pops and bangs sooooo loud. I have videos if you wanna hear it
Awesome work, had no idea project gamma made downpipes for the m340i, I thought it was just the m3, gtr and lambos they did. Do they have catted downpipes for the m340i? Catless is illegal in Australia 😢
I know! Me either, I assumed the same thing. I'm not too sure, actually. You'd have to check their website or give them a call. I hope you succeed in looking for a catted downpipe!
I have these jackstands called JackPoint Stands. They're super neat! They're very easy to use and hold 4000 lbs each. I feel completely confident underneath them, and they're just really easy to use and good-looking. I'm not sponsored, but I recommend them!
You could either ignore the check engine light, install an O2 sensor defouler, or tune the car! Other than those 3 options, there's really not much else to do regarding that check engine light.
I agree - it certainly does give it some rasp. Me, personally, I quite like it! However, I understand there are many who don't like it. But, if you do, the sound is probably perfect.
No, not at all! For example, MHD has an option to go stage 1 and an individual option to choose between factory or aftermarket downpipe(s). It adjusts the tune accordingly. You don't need a downpipe, but it sure helps get way more power (and sound!).

I just picked up a 2021 M340i and normally I keep my vehicles bone stock but this is too tempting. The difference in sound is night and day.

Installing a 5” catless downpipe on my m340i tomorrow and it has a muffler delete. I cannot wait to see what it sounds like 😫
Hell yeah! These engines sound so good with a downpipe. I'd love to know if you ever ended up doing it.

thanks for the great video! We in Europe have a GPF/OPF filter in the middle of the car. What about yours, do you have a silencer or just a pipe.
What kind of jack stand you have ? Look very unusual.

did the check engine light show or is it tuned ?
The car is totally stock so about a day or two later, the check engine light did in fact come on. Typical catless downpipe activities.
@@MotoRevsso question, mines completely stock. What do you do when the check engine lights come on? Is it something you can fix?

Not sure why the catless dps make the car kinda sound raspy.

Is catless dp necessary to tune?

Hi!
i am thinking of doing a catless dp on my 540i on stock exhaust. do you have any other mods on exhaust or just catless dp?
Hey! This isn't actually my car, it's my friend's, but all the work/mods we've done to it is simply the downpipe. No other exhaust mods!
@@MotoRevs same with me man should i do it?
Well, I don't see why not! I think you'd have a much more fun drive every time you hop in.
I'm in Houston too and have an M340i LCI. Want to install an AA catted downpipe for me? LOL
Haha! I appreciate the comment. Have you gotten it installed yet?
is that telfair
Yes, actually!
Million dollar question: Where do you jack up the car from LMAO!!! SERIOUSLY
Honestly, I really don't remember. Sorry! It may have been one of those long, thin ones that stretch the entire wheelbase. Can't say for sure...
@@MotoRevs no worries ty
I have a few bmw’s that I own, there is always four points to jack up from. They sit between both axles and are called jack mounting points.
