www.nucleushealth.com/ - A cerebral aneurysm is a ballooning of an artery in the brain. This 3D medical animation describes how aneurysms form in the circle of Willis and how they can rupture. Symptoms and treatments such as surgical clipping and endovascular coiling are also explained.

I had my ruptured aneurysm 10 months ago. This animation is exactly what happens. I received the coiling. I will never forget this experience nor will I forget how fortunate I was my life was saved. Watching this video explains in an easy to understand manner what happens. The symptoms are exactly correct. The headache was excruciating..as if I was hit from behind with a huge hammer. I survived, but not everyone does. Recovery was a slow process.

+edward perez I am so sorry! I wish her all the best! Very important for her to get plenty of rest after going home! I had such a good support after I went home. I went just made my 1 year anniversary of the aneurysm and feel not quite 100% but lucky I am alive. My roommate didn`t make it sadly. Please keep me posted on her condition and recovery! I had a 13mm aneurysm in my brain . I went to the er because the left side of my body was numb . They rushed me to the ct scan and found it before it ruptured . I had a angiogram before I had surgery to see what operation would be best and the next day I had surgery . They put a stint in the aneurysm to prevent it from rupturing. I had serious complications weeks later because it was so big . I was having the bad compilations till it shrunk . Like numbness in my arms and legs . Here I am now 4 months later living my life .

They thought it was gastritis/viral. 5 days later, when the sevsre headach did not stop, I took her back to the hospital where she was properly treated last March 18. No adverse complications. Unfortunately she is in vegetative or minimally conscious state, probably more in vegetative state. Doctors after surgery already said that she might learn some commands and that is it, so i still don't get then why they even do those surgeries if they see that she will never be the same or close to who she was before. Oh and she still cannot breath on her own. If i would just knew before the surgery what the consequences could be after, i would never give them authorization to do the surgery.

it's basically the artery system on the base of your brain which will "relay" the blood to the brain. It makes a circle which has input from 4 big arteries. It's quite cool to have this circle because of one of the 4 big arteries is not big enough the physical laws of pressure within tubes will still keep the brain supplied

Thank you for such an intelligent response. But my comment was a reference to a character in an old American TV show. Still, now I know more about the real Circle of Willis than I did before. Again, thanks.

This was my concern back when i was in my first year in campus. My lecturer's sister died because of this and it freaks me out just knowing that stress could be this super serious.. By the way, can someone explain to me what is it at 4.15? I was trying to understand the process.. 😉

I used to work for Sequent Medical, Inc. in Aliso Viejo, CA as a research and development technician. We developed a MUCH better way of treating aneurysms; a web embolization. Our product is 100% much better than coils. What if one of the coils came through the ruptured part? The webs that Sequent Medical invented if formed EXACTLY to the size of the aneurysm.
