It 100 percent cost less than £20 in materials in the genuine one. Even genuine high end watch aren't as expensive as you think to make.
That's the main issue I have with this particular watch. Paying $500 for the omega logo is extremely stupid.

Yeah, it's not though because Omega was literally involved in the collaboration. I wore one of my Moonswatches into an Omega AD recently and the people working there loved it! They certainly didn't stick their nose up at me like they thought I was wearing something inferior.

I also don't advocate for replica watches, but I have a friend who knowingly bought a replica moonswatch and I honestly don't blame him. To be fair, these watches are cheap and grossly overpriced. The slight differences you mentioned between the real vs fake aren't worth the 10x and higher markup. Also, the argument about not buying replicas because it supports illicit activities is moot when people buy iPhones and other Apple products that utilize child labor.

I think that the only reason people buy the moonswatch is because they equate Omega to quality and I think that them calling plastic "bioceramic" fooled a lot of people into thinking that it is a quality product.
The Original is also a very cheaply made watch that should cost $20 😂😅😢

The funny thing about getting the fake is that most wanted and can easily afford the real deal. But hunting for one is nearly impossible for most.
I'd like someone to expain to me why counterfeiters are churning out plenty of clones, but Swatch can't keep up with demand. We're not talking about intricate hand built watches with unobtainium gearsets. It's a plastic Swatch. Something tells me that Swatch is manufacturing demand more than they are manufacturing watches.
A shame the replica that was used was an early one - the later versions have engraved backs that are identical, made of plastic so very light, correct glass, have the inset sub-dials, have the markings on the crown, have correct straps, have the correct press markings, have the engraved "s" on the glass and the hidden print above "swiss made" (both of these markers weren't covered in the video?) - also there is one hugely obvious tell on the replica and is still there in the later versions.....

I have a Moonswatch but would actually have bought the fake if I'd seen this video beforehand. Unless you are going to keep it boxed and unused then it is not a watch for collectors, yet the price is still too high for your average Joe, so I'm not sure who its actually for. The materials used are so cheap and soft that even after only a few months of careful use, the resale value of mine is going to be virtually zero. This would be fine if I felt the mechanism was durable and I had bought a watch for life, but I think I'll be lucky if it survives even a few years.
I love the look of it, but at the end of the day it's a cheaply made Swatch with a price tag suggesting something much more. I normally wouldn't condone fakes either, but in this case it seems like the better deal!
I decided to buy a fake one just to use for daily life. Holy shit it's different from the one in the video in the sense that it's identical to the real one with the highlighted difference not there. I'm not actually sure if it's fake

The worst things about the fakes is... that there will be always a seller who sells a fake as "pre-owned original" for a slightly lower price than original...
Easiest way to tell the fake is the top right sub dial on a fake moves as a 24 hour dial.
Yeah, it does have that in my fake Mission to Pluto. But honestly the sweeping chrono is a great trade off
I don't care if a watch enthusiast points out that I have a fake MoonSwatch lol. The real ones are no better then the fakes so they are equals in my sort of opinion.

I have a clone Mission to the Moon watch. It has the correct sunken subdials and moulded script on the rear. It is also extrememly light making the comments in this video out of date. It is physically identical to the original for £17. It does stop occasionally though!

Although I would never buy a fake watch, if I was going to buy a disposable crap plastic watch, I would prefer to spend £20 rather than £250! Pagani must have sold many more Speedmaster homages since the MoonSwatch was released.
Now a year later the replicas have gone a far way. I purchased a couple of the replicas and I can tell you EVERY difference mentioned in this video has been fixed and this thing is undistinguishable from the real thing. Even with all the fixes it still is only $20.

Sometimes the fake ones have better movement than the real one and as far as I know real ones cannot be repaired easily by any other store

@@fontyyy exactly. I had a replica omega silver snoopy and i compared it to my friend's original moonswatch. My replica was only 70$ yet it had a properly polished case, a solid bracelet without folds and a seiko mecha quartz movement.

The Mission to Mercury colors is totally different, it has a greenish hue on the dial. It's supposed to be dark grey, no? Also the strap is beige, it's supposed to be dark grey as well. Or am I color blind?
I dont know what you and the comments are talking about, it is incredibly easy to tell which is the fake by quality. The only reason someone wouldn't be able to tell is because you chose to not compare to the real mercury, where the difference in quality would be even more obvious.
I prefer the specs of the homage watch to the grossly overpriced moon watch. And the ethics you espouse should be lauded towards the companies who treat customers like fools. Ps I couldn't give a Castlemain Xxxx about people with more money than sense telling me why the watch i own is inferior or not worth wearing. I buy what I want and can afford, end of 👍

I thought these looked neat at first but man the more you look at the moonswatches the worse they get.. they had to call it bioceramic to avoid calling it a plastic watch as well 😂
If they were cheap Swatch watches then I think they would be pretty neat collectibles but people are basically paying hundreds of dollars just because of the Omega and Speedmaster logos on the dial. Funnily enough companies have copied the moonswatches and made them out of stainless steel and with sapphire crystals for quarter of the price

I appreciate watches, but with the Omega x Swatch I would produly wear the fake one, because that would mean I didn't get scammed. It is already a low end "tribute" to the Omega one, so why could I have a better quality/price ratio watch that makes the same thing?
$20 fake - now build a $50 dollar fake - how much closer would it get? I own Rolex and Omega watches but quality for money is always a question. Homage watches (near too but not fakes) get very close for 1/50 of the price.

I think it comes from the fact people can't get hold of the real deal. Not being able to order one online and not being able to get the exact model you would like from the store means fakes like this pop up and people would rather buy them then wait for an original.

Mate, the subdial at 2 o’clock is 24h clock on the fake. On the real on, it shows the 10th of second, only the the chronograph is stopped.

Easy. The original ones with the small hand at the 2-pm dial always point all the way up at 12pm. In fakes the subdial do not work at the chrono function.

I actually agree mate. A $20 Casio is worlds better than the moonswatch (and it's clone)
My friend, Casio is something honest. Its best watch, the digital one, is being produced over 30 years and it holds value, it is super cheap and has a vintage design that you can pair it with many outfits. That being said, Casio may be the most honest watch brand, with nice Japan movements that almost never fail and exceptional quality for the money. I own an Edifice chronograph watch for about 6 years, that i bought for about 110€ and I've only changed it battery and a strap that cost me 15€. It has nice looks, it is super accurate keeping time and it goes from a sportiest outfit, to a more casual or formal outfit.

I am against buying fake watches. It is more honest to have something cheaper,but authentic like a Casio i.e. than a superclone Rolex, just to be someone you aren't. But in that case, Swatch may have done something way too wrong. Firstly, it is nice having omega badge on your watch (i think swatch owns Omega brand) and it has nice design as watch,but honestly almost 300 euros or dollars for a "plastic" (bioceramic states but it is like plastic) are way too much money. Shortly after ,a lot of people discovered that a Moonswatch faded away its colour on the wrist, makes it even worse. Someone who gives that amount of money to buy a nice watch, doesnt expect to has this kind of problems. Secondly, it is super easy to copy that watch, because it has cheap parts to copy. A lot of people said that the fake ones are much solid watches with better quartz movement. For 30$ I might buy one only to have as a backup watch for my house activities. In conclusion, I firmly believe that anyone should better buy a watch authentic at a decent reasonable price (in that money you can buy a nice Tissot Chronograph that is authentic, swiss made and more solid than that) and that is the big fraud of the Swatch company. That they chose to make a watch that is plastic in its base, with cheap parts and overprice it without reason only because Omega brand holds the value.

@@TopTierTicker So you feel me. I own a Citizen Promaster, a Seiko skx007, an Orient kamasu and a Casio Edifice, all bought from original watch sellers and I feel very good with myself. I bought them with my hard earned money and I am proud to wear them. Specifically the Citizen has something that attracts the other peoples eye, everyone had told me how solid and good looking watch is. It fits in with almost most outfits. Next target buy for me will be a Tissot, swiss quality and great value for money tou spend.

The Fauxmega Moonswatch is a fake watch to begin with so I absolutely LOVE this! How hard can it be to reproduce a cheap but overpriced piece of trash? I want one just to spit in Swatch's face and I say this as someone who owns a Tissot.

Not just Swatch but all the big name watch companies are ripping people off. That's what people should be looking at since these fake watches are almost identical. Soon they'll be so exact, it'll be near impossible, even to the trained eye to spot a fake without taking it apart. I would be furious if I just paid over 900k for a watch & my neighbors 10 year old kid has a fake that looks exactly like mine. It will always be a cat & mouse game but with our technology advancing, 3d printing etc., it's going to get crazy!
I note the fake has a proper mecha-quartz movement, unlike the gen!
Sidenote, you can get a real fake stainless steel, hardlex crystal, steel bracelet Seiko mecha-quartz movement Omega Speedmaster for well under £150.
Why is it scary how similar they are? The fake like any Swatch is a disposable watch. I've had many Swatches over the years, and I like them a lot. But the plastics eventually become brittle, and you have to throw them away. The fake is so close it doesn't matter.

Chinese are good at making value for money watches, If your gonna buy something knockoff from China buy watches. A lot of these factories use seiko movements and use premium materials for hardly any money. Pegani design is a brand that comes to mind
I had the original Mercury after giving into the hype train and it felt like a £20 watch anyway!! It’s like a child’s first watch, utter crap. I sold it after 2 weeks.

Real one will cost less than £20 to make. However the money gone into development, design and all the high end machinery to make such watch cost a lot more in comparison to the ones fake use
I bought a mission to Mars and I like it but it’s definitely not worth the price even at retail it’s just not a quality watch. I really like it especially the strap is cool but again not worth the price tag. Great video as always!
Yep! I like my Moonswatch Pluto but it's just not good enough quality. I'm worried about hitting it against a door and braking the damn thing. Mines actually listed on ebay at the moment and I'm looking at picking up a speedmaster automatic instead. Thanks for watching mate. I appreciate you!
