I love how the van Sprouts round headlights for jumps and then they go back to square after it lands LOL I know they just buy older cheap ones for crash cars, but it's still cool to try to spot
Not only does it get round headlights when it hits a jump, but it lands and losses to hubcaps LOL and the right rear Rim turns silver!! We didn't have the technology we have today to be able to watch it in slow motion and repeatedly back it up. Well I guess we might have had VCRs around then, but the picture quality wasn't nearly as clear as it is today. I love going back and watching all these old stunt scenes to see the stuff I missed as a kid

That is some bold editing! 😄 Showing a van falling from a height of c.20 feet, hitting the ground hard, and then cutting to the inside of the van where it looks like they hit a small pot hole while travelling slowly 😆
Hannibal sits there at :16 unmoved and grinning while the rest of them do a light bob. A real un-harnessed jump and they'd all first smash their heads in the roof before slamming down into the floor. They'd be all over the place. Seems they should have tried a little harder to depict some of the violance associated with such a stunt. Sometimes a close look at the Dukes of Hazzard landings and you can see the stunt man sink down nearly below the window from the massive force of landing. Nonetheless the A-team was fun (albeit silly) and impressive with all the stunts and the van was cool. Today's shows are not the same as the early 80s.
I wonder if the a team was still active all these years later all there backs would be f**ked up from all the jumps they did. But from the look of those landings the suspension on that van was awesome. 😂😂😂
If you pause it at just the right time at the interior shots and the van is at its lowest "dip" in the frame you can clearly see over and a bit around it and that it's sitting in an enclosed soundstage room with black walls.
Imagine this chase taking place in Orly County, Sheriff Lobo's first commands would be, "Birdie, Perkins, after them, mow". Later, he'll come up to Col. Decker, "Colonel, what in tarnation is going on, here? This is Orly County- we've no room for car chases". After Birdie and Perkins report about the A-Team jumping their van over a creek with a bridge under construction, Lobo goes, "Those guys might have an issue with the military, but I'm going to let them know there will be no bridge jumping in Orly County!!!"

The cast (actors) were very rarely in the van while it was moving, they either did interior shots in a sound stage or were seen getting in or out the van whilst stationery. Stunt doubles are clearly seen most of the time.
Amazing me the Van survived all TV shows series time was air and keeping going strong ! Be interesting if BA (Mr. T) own in real life because he knew how fix and one seen says I am not destroyed my van ? Plus when brake line said had fix to Hannibal to!

Mesmo assim ta valendo os efeitos especiais da época. Gosto muito dessa serie.
Did you notice how Col Decker's roof lights shrink for the opening shot to the shot where he jumps? They go from the classic Aerodynic bar to the slimmed down Jet Sonic bar.
Yep. I also love the cutaway scenes to the inside of the van when they are talking where you can clearly see the area around the van is black where they have clearly shot it in the studio when it's a bright sunny day from the stunt shots.
Kinda sucks that rather than use an 84 GMC like the main van they used a 71-77 as a stunt van but this show is known for that. They at one point used a ford for a junk scene and a g30 8 lug van
This last jump in the clip looks to a a dunebuggy frame with a fake look van body. I love the fake jumps in 80s tv shows. Now days the do a fake computer generated jump with the vehicle/
It was sad that George Peppard past away as Stephen J Cannell was to do three two hour movies,in which the team get clear of stockwell and get the evidence and clear their names and are free men.gr73,

Man, GMC had one Fantastis Contract to the Hollywood Movie studio, they suplied them with nearly 2 Brand new Vans a Week !

2023 update. I found out who jumped the van in the episode called "Body Slam". It was stunt driver John Cade.

It never ever was all black. Always grey and black separated by a red stripe. Lots of toys, replicas, etc got this wrong though. :)
