I’m having the same issue. It will say the transportation lock is on or paper jam but haven’t been able to print. Have you found a solution?

Are there any similarities here that can help with the Epson 3880?

I put the motherboard back in without the plate over it. Should I uninstall the motherboard or run it like it is. Not sure if removing cause more of a risk of failure.

Thanks for subscribing to my channel! With around 55K subscribers, I’m really pushing to reach the 100K milestone, and every subscriber like you plays a key role in getting there. I truly appreciate your support and for taking the time to ask this thoughtful question.
The metal cover on the mainboard primarily serves as a shield against electromagnetic interference (EMI), protecting sensitive components, and providing physical safety against dust or accidental contact. It also helps dissipate heat, which keeps the mainboard running efficiently. However, in practice, we often don't reinstall the metal cover during our repairs. The ET-8550's mainboard isn't in a position where EMI is a major concern, and similar models like the L1800 or 1390 feature an open design with only bottom casing for protection.
The bottom casing's main role is to lift the mainboard slightly to prevent the legs of through-hole components from shorting out. If you're using a non-conductive holder for the bottom, it's generally fine to operate without the metal cover. That said, if you're worried about long-term durability or interference, you can reinstall the cover for extra peace of mind.
