    So it's a modern analogue synthesizer, done centuries ago with bamboo and reeds? It's incredible!

    • @mycosys
      @mycosys 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      no, analog synthesis simply emulates how physical instruments generate tones. They all work the same

    • @jarls5890

      If you look closely on the underside it says "CASIO - SH-ENG01 - MADE IN CHINA (C) 1890BC".
      Kidding.
      This struck me too - it has a sound palette that is very close to PWM Synthesis. Just listen to the "pling" - coin sounds in the Super Mario sheng tunes!

    fabulous.... just coming across this uniquely instrument during the preperations for a new radio show about Harmonium in Indian classical music... the reeds of harmonium had been inspired by Shehn and developed in 1780 by Ch. Gottlieb Kratzenstein... a professor and nature scientist for maths, mechanics and experimntal physics. Beautiful sound this Shehn has and WuWei seems a real master on it... many tks for experiencing this.

    WONDERFUL! I was so surprised to see so much modernization placed for this ancient musical instrument! In Japan, since it was imported from China 1300 years ago, it changed very little.

    Great this amazing instrument with multiple harmonics and possibilities that mixes several sounds of instruments such as the organ, harmonica and accordion ...
    I got a taste for a long time, on GarageBand to play with tactile virtual instruments on my iPhone and iPad to play 4 instruments: Erhu which is my favorite, Pipa which I like secondly , but also Guzheng and Koto, and I would like GarageBand during its next update to add a lot of these fabulous ancestral instruments of the rising sun, lol! I have already improvised beautiful contemporary music with these 4 instruments accompanied of course by other tracks with synth and others as violin ensembles etc ...
    In any case, thank you for giving us several demonstrations of this amazing instrument that I discovered using 2 or 3 Apple loops, since I don't yet have the possibility of playing it because not available in virtual touchscreen, alas.
    on the other hand I have a "Quena" a Peruvian flute very difficult to play especially when we practice little, but I manage it anyway and I put some in several of my musics and songs in addition to my Flute viola YAMAHA which I adore ...
    NB. I also discovered a very beautiful flute with really a superb particular sound, it is:
    "the Hulusi" wonderful this flute, I want one too lol!
    For info, here are 2 of my music videos dedicated to the instruments of the land of the rising sun :
    th-cam.com/video/qjKa_plbtGo/w-d-xo.html
    th-cam.com/video/bDcl9YqwuxI/w-d-xo.htmlGreetings.

    Formidable cet instrument étonnant et aux multiples harmoniques et possibilités qui mélange plusieurs sonorités d'instruments comme l'orgue, l'harmonica et l'accordéon...
    j'ai pris goût depuis un bon moment, sur GarageBand à jouer avec les instruments virtuel tactiles sur mon iPhone et iPad à jouer de 4 instruments : de l'Erhu qui est mon préféré, de la Pipa que j'aime bien en second lieu, mais aussi du Guzheng et du Koto, et j'aimerais bien que GarageBand lors de sa prochaine mise à jour rajoute beaucoup de ces fabuleux instruments ancestraux du soleil levant, lol ! j'ai déjà improvisé de belles musiques contemporaines avec ces 4 instruments accompagné bien sûr par d'autres pistes avec du synthé et autres comme ensembles de violons etc...
    En tout cas merci de nous avoir fait plusieurs démonstrations de cet instrument étonnant que j'ai découvert en utilisant 2 ou 3 boucles Apple, puisque je n'ai pas encore la possibilité d'en jouer car pas disponible en virtuel tactile, hélas.
    j'ai par contre une "Quena" une fl^te Péruvienne très difficile à jouer surtout quand on en pratique peu, mais j'y arrive quand même et j'en ai mis dans plusieurs de mes musiques et chansons en plus de ma Flûte alto YAMAHA que j'adore...
    NB. J'ai aussi découverts une très belle flûte avec vraiment un superbe son bien particulier, c'est :
    "l'Hulusi" merveilleuse cette flûte, j'en veux une aussi lol !
    Salutations.

    • @DovaBic
      @DovaBic 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually, they do! You can get the Traditional Sheng, Shown in this video, or the GaoYin Sheng, which has more reeds and sounds more lower if I'm not wrong, there is also a Sheng where you play it like a piano and its really low

    • @kevintan9483
      @kevintan9483 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      actually, this is not a traditional sheng, as the original one was not chromatic, and also had a much shorter range.
      The GaoYin Sheng is the higher pitched. You have Gao (high), Zhong (medium), CiZhong (double middle), and Di (lower), which correspond in western persuasion to Soprano, alto, tenor and basso, respectively.
