    A little vid showing you lot how easy it is to make these little penny stoves. Once you get the hang of it they take no longer than 20 minutes. Would be nice to see a few of you having a go.

    Well organized presentation and easy to understand instructions. I've made a number of similar penny can stoves and have been very pleased with them. I've literally burned over a gallon of fuel in one of them and it's still "going strong." As a matter of interest, now two years back a friend of mine used one of the stoves I made to cook his food after a hurricane in south Florida knocked out his power for a week.

    put your holes in the top before you put the 2 peices together that way you dont cause air pressure which splits your can!

    Thank you for answering my question. After thinking about it awhile, I concluded that 16 probably would be the best number of holes to have. There nice and symmetrical around the can, and anymore would probably just eat up fuel at a faster rate.
    Thanks again! God Bless & Stay Safe. C-Ya!!!

      If it is filled up to the center holes, it will spit unburned alcohol and make a mess when that alcohol hits something and ignites. I consider mine full enough at one ounce. Also, I made my holes smaller and had 1/2” flames that were not leaping off the jets. I had fun building seven variations just to see what hole size and placement worked best.

Used a hole punch to make air holes in it and two tent pegs punched through to hold pot above the stove. Works a charm. Lance Flanagan I wouldn't recommend fiberglass as there are possible issues with unwanted fumes. A wick isn't needed due to the fact that these stoves work by converting liquid fuel to gas fuel and not a wick.

    How do you keep the fuel source from leaking around the seal ?

    • @allabouttheviews
      @allabouttheviews  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Never had any problems myself. Could put a bit of heat resistant silicone on to seal it up. ATB.

    • @rlentz1

      After the first use the paint on the inside can will melt and create a seal between the two cans. That's what was said in a different video anyway!

    hi very nice vid. and stove, i made some very similar but i added some holes on the sides, since it kept going out if i placed a large pot on top of it.
    but a single question, what's the point with the penny? besides the name, i guess if my pot is on a riser it makes sense, but otherwise the pot blocks the fuel holes in the middle right?

    • @allabouttheviews
      @allabouttheviews  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Nicolai. Good question. I'm not really sure what the penny does orther than to block the holes where the fuel goes in. Maybe the pressure is greater with the penny over the holes to force the fuel out of the jets. I have never tried it without the penny. ATB Mark.

      CHEBSOOT Yep, the penny is all about creating pressure.

    it work with denatured alcohol? also, the priming pan at the bottom, does it need to keep the fire or not?

    • @allabouttheviews
      @allabouttheviews  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it will. The priming pan will burn out after about 20-30 seconds. Only need a little bit of fuel in there to get things going. ATB Mark.

      Petrol yes but it dose have a strong smell and you will not get blue flames causing your pan to get black marks on them. Diesel is harder to set alight and will take a lot of time.

    wwhat is the coin for? what kind of alcohol can be used?

    • @cynthiamoon372
      @cynthiamoon372 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      jet ponte ... The coin keeps the center holes from burning alcohol. A slight pressure is achieved by heating the alcohol to vapor and forcing it out the rim holes. Without the coin, the center holes would likely sap that pressure thus making the rim holes burn weaker. However when a pot is placed directly on the top, it would snuff out the flame coming out of the center holes, so actually the coin would not be needed unless a pot stand is used to elevate the pot above the stove surface.

      I don't normally put mine out. I just let it burn out of fuel. You could cover it with a damp cloth to put it out quickly.

    That pin is called a thumbtack

    • @Steveorino123
      @Steveorino123 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      it's actually called a "push pin". a thumbtack has a flat round thin head so you can push it in easily with your thumb. the push pin stands up and comes in different colors for marking specific areas. using a thumbtack to make the holes in the can would be a pain. what I want to know is what do you do with this little stove? where would a person use it? if you have access to the fuels needed seems to me you'd most likely have more convenience items around such as a stove, no?
