The first one I knew.. I use concatenate more than the regular =D3 simply to tell me instantly it's a join function as I have a lot of calculations. The second one is magical. I knew how to do it in VBA but not in excel. I need to go do several rewrites with char(10)! The third one...mind blowing. Seriously not going to say how I did a work around on getting dates to copy over with text... it was ugly but worked. I have a bunch of cleaning up to do when I get back. Excellent build-up. LOVE your videos. I learn things I didn't even know to ask about!

I didn't know the third one. I always felt trouble in retaining the format of the cells after combining them. Thank you for saving my time. :)

Awesome Tutorial! Your videos have helped me greatly. Thank you! I wonder if there is a general code to keep ANY formatting that was in the cell that is being concatenated. (ie: If I have a questionnaire with questions and data that contain a mix of dates, numbers and written answers.) After the grouping, I would want to keep Date formats, number formats and general text formats too. Without having to go to each formula and adjust the text(xx,______ section for each different one. Does such a formula or function exist?

THANKS FOR THIS TUTORIAL. I'm merging a 12-month data from Jan to Dec on respective sheets in same workbook. Each sheet is made up of three columns - viz; a/c code, name and amount. The challenge is that some months have names that are not in the other sheet or months , resulting in more rows in some sheets than others. The order of names in month 1 sheet differ from other sheets hence, it's been difficult to have a uniform name and account code columns to allow the amounts to be added for every row across all the sheets. this is making me spent more time cleaning the data for merging up to a master sheet for consolidated values in the amount field for all the names that have recurred with multiple amounts across the months. Pls can you help? CLEMENT.

I have situation where I need to display dates from 21st of previous month to 20th of current month. Basically, I want to have 3 rows. First row should show a merge cells such they will show like March and April. The next row would be dates in series from 21 to 20 formatted with "d". The third would be day represented by LEFT(TEXT(cellreference,"ddd"),1). My question is, is there a way to create 1st row by formula. Please understand the starting will be dynamically changing like I might input 21-Feb or 21-Mar or 21-Apr etc. Let me know if you have any solution to this scenario. Thanks in advance.

This was great, until my true purpose collided with the reality. My goal was to combine several columns into one and then delete the original columns. When I deleted the original columns my nice new column had the "ref" error. So, not as quick and easy as I had hoped.

This has an easy fix. After you have applied the formula, just replace the formula with values (super easy to do). Here is a tutorial on how to do this - th-cam.com/video/c2uFZAU1Ctc/w-d-xo.html
