I hope you enjoy this video. During 10 days off work in April i set myself a task of building 10 Japanese Aircraft in 10 days, LOL it is now mid June so obviously i failed miserably, but they are now complete and hear for you to look at. I will be releasing the fruits of my efforts as completed build videos over the next 5 days, 2 per day, some came out OK some didn't LOL, but i had fun during the series. incidentally there is a link to my playlist for Land of the Rising Sun Week above this blurb where you can view the "Whats in the Box" and "Build Updates" for these kits as they were built.
I have a model collection/stash of 300-400 1/72 and 1/35 kits which i have been building badly for the amusement or to the annoyance of my fellow TH-camrs, As my competence levels increase i am looking to take on different and more complex models. As a novice modeller my intention is to learn the various assembly techniques and skills required, especially that of painting, so as i can produce half decent looking models, I concluded the best way to do this is to start with something simple, personally i think the best way to learn a new skill is repetition; try, try and try again. Hopefully by completing these 33 Spitfire models i will learn a few tricks of the trade. Whilst doing this I am also hoping to improve my VERY basic TH-cam skills, so far just uploading these videos has resulted in tantrums of titanic proportions, yes unfortunately i am also techno-phobic.
Follow me on my novice modelling journey whilst I try desperately to overcome my midlife crisis. Questions and suggestions always welcome. Please like and subscribe and follow me on my ride!

With the rate you've built these at, you'll get through your stash in no time Andy 🙂 A suggestion: Why not build a simple field diorama for the aircraft? A 1 ft square (300mm x 300mm) sheet of foam board should should do it, or an equivalent sized picture frame. Just add paint and model railway scenic materials. Hasegawa do a nice 1/72 Isuzu TX40 fuel truck you could spice it up with. Cheers, Jeremy

Thanks Jeremy, though my best estimation at the moment is 7-8 years. Will have a go at a diorama base as it would give a better finished artical.

    Fantastic project Andy.
I can't believe what you've achieved in such a short time. It may have taken longer than you planned but to quote a fella and his range...... that's just the way it goes!..... some things will never change!..... 🤣🤣
More importantly mate, its been alot of fun watching the journey and I'm sure (i hope) you've had fun too!
    Keep modelling serry.
    Be seeing you 👊

LOL this was a slightly overblown, self indulgent idea that taught me a few things about modelling and TH-cam, all useful for moving forward with this lunacy. The best part was the getting viewers to pick the next build. That will most definitely be returning soon.

Stash is growing at an uncontrollable rate, eh....welcome to the club! I wish I built as fast as bought, acquired....invested for the future myself, I'm falling well behind there!
At least I'm tooling around with a Tamiya 1/48 Skyraider and one Eduard 1/48 MiG-21 PFM at the moment. Hopefully, I shall manage to finish at least one before my two weeks off are done! 😆😂🤞🏻

Hello there @Duececoupe, happy to hear you have some builds on the go, good luck with them. I am not really into Jets but a Skyraider is interestingly in my Ebay basket and most definitely on the hit list to be joining my stash. Regarding stash's TBH being a novice i have no idea what constitutes a good, bad, small, mediumor big stash, i just know its a thing and that whichever type you possess it is normally an out of control thing that can generally be considered a genuine Health and Safety risk.

My excuse is, the more that I buy now, the less I have to cough up when I'm retired, that's my excuse as I said and I'm sticking to it! 😉😆😂
Anyhoo, you know when your stash has reached SABLE, Stash Acquisitions Beyond Life Expectancy....😆😂
Tamiya's Skyraider is excellent, I've got a few plus ESCI and Matchbox and Revell. There's a few more choices in 1/72 which I'm sure that you already know....

Hi Pscyodermix, i discovered an important medical document regarding the Midlife Crisis and i feel that i am displaying several of the classic symptoms, if you haven't had chance to watch it i would suggest you give it a quick review.

i love it. I have an old Jesus and Mary Chain shirt from 1995 Melbourne gig i hold on to in the hope i will one day fit into again, but i never will.. I was going to be an astronaut, then a fighter pilot, i ended up in retail after 6 or 7 or 8 years of uni i can't remember too much boozing and then reached it about 40 years old and made a change. Lost good women because i wanted footy and pubs instead, met a heap of okay ones that didn't cut it. Took up golf, become a bigger alcoholic. I often joke to my mates at the footy that we're in the top 1% of most drunk people at the game. Luckily or unluckily, i have no kids to spend money on, so i get to spend it all on me, but no one to spend it on that will look after me when i need it.
One day we will all build good models 🤣
Where can i buy your book?

    • @TheNoviceModeller
      @TheNoviceModeller  8 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

LOL your story is a virtual mirror image of my own except i went to Uni at the ripe old age of 33 and became President of The Caving and Potholing Club" so i think we could say that was my first midlife crisis? or maybe it was the start of it?
You can get the book for a few quid off ebay, its part of a range that include the The Mum and The Dad which i used to send in place of congratulations cards upon the birth of a child, The Shed is another good one LOL.
