Yeah I just throw men at my enemies near the end of my war to get war score, once I got over ten million casualties in about 6 months. I was China though so it was worth it. I lost an additional 2 million in the invasion of Japan (thanks AI USA for destroying the Japanese fleet).
Casualties inflicted against an enemy nation affects who they capitulate to which can be useful. Like if you deal the most casualties to germany, you occupy all of their unoccupied land when they capitulate. Whether you occupy something or not significantly affects the cost for that land in peace deals so dealing the most casualties will leave you with some relatively cheap land, which is also more expensive for others, that you can take in the peace deal.
Yeah same here apparently I’m not allowed to take my cores the allies are willing to give me Sardinia and Sicily instead. As a rule of thumb when ever one of my allies hold my core I just tag switch and force them to release them, this includes playing as Canada and tag switching to get Newfoundland back

It's so stupid. It's that mechanic where you get warscore for *casualties*. AI routinely get more warscore for just sitting there and grinding their troops on the enemy line while you can paradrop behind, win the war, and get like 20 points

Talk about a historic game, the Germans thought they were winning because they could see Moscow but in fact just made a salient that would be their tomb.
I honestly think that it will be pretty interesting to watch even without classic war and micro. I always enjoyed the Vic2 Streams because they were more about geopolitics and the players arguing over their policies of expansion, war was common but not the main focus in most streams.
This was a fantastic stream to watch live. You could really tell that after the Vitebsk salient nearly got entirely pocketed, Swimmy's spirit kind of broke. No real attempts at any major plays on the Eastern Front after that.

That's kind of how it irl went down, like you got France who got defeated in their mainland and didn't help Poland, UK who also didn't help Poland, and the U.S who came into Europe late to the party, meanwhile they got pieces of Berlin.
I would love it if there was a game where the USSR, German Reich, and Italy all had two players. One player is in charge of the regular military and the other is in charge of the political party's personal troops. So for Germany, someone plays Blomberg and someone else plays Himmler. And they have to coordinate their troops effectively. So the NKVD divisions, the SS, and the Italian Blackshirts all have their own players, and the other player can't stop them from recruiting them, can't divert resources from them, and can't take direct command of them.

Casualties inflicted against an enemy nation affects who they capitulate to which can be useful.
