I really like the vanilla settlements except that I just can't get passed the fact that after 200 years no one has swept the floor. I mean there's mops and brooms everywhere!
It's so true! I think one of the best ideas for a mod is a job you can assign Settlers: housekeeping. They get broom and start sweeping, when you come back leaves and trash are gone! Of course, you hit on one of the silliest Fallout cliches: nothing has changed after 200 years. Other than the mutations, of course. But say, Starlight Drive-in looks exactly like it did the Day After, skeletons still in place. As a new player, I was confused on the timeline, because it so looked as if only a few years had passed, not 200!
That would be a great mod. kinda like sim settlements for cleaning up the wasteland. Unfortunately have no idea how to make mods! and no time to learn it. LOL@@keithsavagelives
That was my biggest issue with Vanilla Fallout 4. The player can set up a individually powered, auto aiming turret, but not a single wall or roof without holes in it. Like how hard is it to make bricks, windows and furniture compared to customizing a nuclear powered walking suit of armor? Or that workshop which you can use to make Codsworth a hulking, rocket spitting death machine. How are we supposed to have THAT and not a single loom to make clothes. No, I'd rather wear a dinner tray stitched together with napkins as a shirt.
The level of creativity and detail are unmatched I've always passed over this settlement because I just couldn't get my creative mind together. And the windmill power generators are the perfect item for this build
I've had a lot of time to perfect it, a little here & there. In base game, without Science!, there's only three generators and two are loud. So I use windmills frequently, especially in the early builds. I put a lot of thought into the fortifications, I think it's finally gotten just where I want it. The fortified overlook Nuka dining room was the last phase. Thanks for your kind compliment!
To explain some context, this build represents a Settlement that has been through all phases of my playthrough. I began my first playthrough, which was all base game, on 1-20-2020. The character was Quinn Corwin, but after getting Mama Murphy hooked on chems, I started a new playthrough, and got to The Glowing Sea, before reloading a very old save, before the chems, and playing Quinn again... But this time, I had DLCs. I've been getting them slowly, as their prices dropped. I only lack Automatron. So when I started, Red Rocket was necessarily base game. Then, it got its first add-on: Wasteland Workshop, and that nice lookout tower was built, then as more add-ons came along, the old Truckstop got more and more fancy. I've been playing this one playthrough since 2022, very slowly story-wise, concentrating instead on building and exploring, trying to get all the Settlements completely outfitted before switching to Survival mode to enjoy the game's finale. I'm playing at normal difficulty, and I'm currently 62 level. I'm at the point where money is no longer a problem, as I have many Settlements, linked by supply lines, all producing income. (The only Settlements I don't have yet are: Boston Airport, Bunker Hill, Covenant, Spectacle Island and the Castle. Saving the best for last, this playthrough!) Correction: I forgot I found Egret Tours Marina, but haven't claimed it. And this character will never have Bunker Hill, or Boston Airport, as he will never join either of the factions required to gain these Settlements. In fact, I'm considering doing the exploit inside Fort Hagen that prevents the Brotherhood of Steel from arriving! Edit: this exploit didn't work for me- I found out afterwards it only works on Xbox and PC. My first playthrough made me despise the Brotherhood, sheerly for their shitty attitude towards any Sole Survivor who won't join up: "Out of the way, peck!" and "no time for you, dirty wastelander" That's GENERAL Dirty-Wastelander to you- metal morons, I was rebuilding the Commonwealth with NO support when you were still a gleam in the robot's eye! It seems now I'm stuck with them, but perhaps it's for the best. I get the full experience of the game as intended.
I gave Nordhagen Beach to the disciples from Nuka World causing Preston Garvey to insult me and call me a traitor right before he sends me to save another settlement! 🤣🤣🤣
Sweet job with the barracks in the awning supports, those are pain to work with and the broken gas hose too. I wish i could do a wasteland build but just build crazy modern idk stuff and dont know when to stop like my babbling here... Cool build!
Really appreciate the compliment! I came waaay late to this game, and I'm only now getting to where I think my stuff is good enough to publish. I played my first playthrough completely vanilla and base game- to get the authentic new release experience if nothing else, and on my second playthrough, I started getting DLCs, and began practicing with the rug glitch, etc. Now, three years on, I am finally able to rebuild the Wasteland properly! Thanks again, and I have more to come. Stay tuned!
I had been working on my own settlement builds recently too. Previously, my footage I was waiting for, didn't appear until after I uploaded my video. Then I lost my saves due to one of them getting corrupted somehow. Now the past couple days I've spent wiping and redownloading my mods, trying to get rid of the ghost data, only to end up with less mod space than before. Ha, not my luck this week.
@@keithsavagelives Thank you kindly. I wiped my mods twice with no luck. Can't install all my Creation Club stuff now for some reason. I think it's somehow eating into my reserved mod space. Already lost two days so far, but I think I'm going to leave it for now, and hope that the next-gen update does something to fix it. At the very least, I managed to get one settlement build video out, so that's a plus!
Love that cafe. My first playthrough I had a really nice gate (with guard stations on each side) spanning the street. I used RR as a check point for travelers before moving on to Sanctuary. Now, in my new playthrough (with PS5) I can not recreate it. I've tried everything....very frustrating.
Sorry to hear that, it's always frustrating to not be able to redo something! I made RR my first recruiting center, with one of my few radio beacons. (I don't put them up at every Settlement, despite the game's recommendations.) I think there's one place where the build limit covers both sides of the road, you might get two guard posts in that one spot. Good luck, and thanks for your kind words!
@@keithsavagelives I'm finding that there are a few "differences" in PS5...mainly with building. I'm hoping they'll update it for PS5 soon (Skyrim has already been updated). I've heard rumors that it's coming sometime before the TV show airs.
I'm not sure I understand what you're asking... do I have it, no I don't, do you need it for this build, no you don't, everything I've built ever was done without it, do I want it, not especially, after hearing it came with a lot of bugs, would I mind trying it, sure.
I'm sorry I didnt see you replied, well I have a free code for the 6 dlcs, I never used it and was looking for someone who could use it. It's yours free if you want, just let me know and ill throw the code up when your ready
@@hellraiser3415 I appreciate that a lot, sure, send me the code. TH-cam doesn't seem to have private messaging, or do you have to have Studio? I really don't know.
Idk either, I could message you the code on a different video, which would give you an instant notification, when your ready , and then you can copy it and delete message eh?
I'm sorry, but as an older person, who did not have the benefit of growing up with the internet and social media at my fingertips, I often simply cannot understand you younger folks. So let me clarify: what exactly are you saying? You WANT a night tour? Or you DON'T want tours at night? I honestly can't extract meaning from your sentence. Apologies if English is a second language for you. Thank you for using a "pls" which I am interpreting as "please" not plus. @@keithsavagelives Sorry for my English, I'm old too. With my poor language I wanted to communicate that it is better to do the tours during the day to appreciate the settlement 100%. Use some mod to stay in daytime during the visit. Excuse me for my mistake, I'm using translator right now, i LOVE your settlements.
@@smowiito Thanks for clarifying, Smowiito, I really do appreciate it. To answer your concerns, first, I don't use mods, ever. This channel is about building in Fallout 4... without mods! I don't have any mods installed on my PS4, so using one to keep the sun up is not happening. Secondly, I love lighting my Settlements just so, and to show off all my work, I try to have a portion of the tour at night. But, I will do more daytime segments of my outdoor Settlements. I'm afraid you won't like my next upload, it's the very darksome Mechanist's Lair. I have added A LOT of new lighting, but it's still pretty dark in there! Thanks for watching and I REALLY appreciate your comments and support! Glad you like the settlements. I'm getting better at being a one-man movie studio, lots of practice lately!
I never use mods, if and when I do, I _will_ tell you. As it is, I do use Creation Club content (Playstation). I even try to explain which CC add-ons I'm using. I just upgraded Red Rocket again, and used the obsequious pipe pistol to roll two cars all the way up from Concord, so the station could have some cool cars. Sadly, I discovered they de-rez. But I got the whole process on video! I even put a "speedboat" docked in the water at Taffington! It was a shock to get it all done, and then poof! I turn around, no speedboat. Oh, well... at least you can scrap them, and apparently, they don't re-rez after that, so the road is more open. And free steel, too.
