very grateful to have seen that tour with this lineup and btbam playing parallax 2 in its entirety , also the contortionist was on that show. one i will remember forever
I look at this album as a full metal masterpiece. It should be regarded as one of the best metal, not just prog death or deathcore or whatever genre you want to put it in, but one of the top metal albums.
Ehh... He was before I spoke with Keene and he made it clear he played pretty much all the good leads on that album. And outside of that Album, Wes has little tongi off of. He's a great player, but nothing special. Cleanest player ever?? Ok, what the hell does that even mean. There are tons of great players who play clean and accurate since the 70s. Wes is just a new guy who achieved a similar status. Faceless leads have been great since their demo days.
OmniscientVirtuosity "Keene has also stated that the addition of Hauch gave the band some fresh energy, praising Hauch to be “one of the best guitar players I’ve ever had the privilege of playing with, he’s really amazing." cheers buddy
Not anymore ... All 3 or 4 in spiraling void are now.... Like.... JESUS CHRIST HOW IS THAT SONG BETTER THAN THIS GIGALITH PROG OPUS IT BLOWS MY MIND BUT I THINK IT IS Not by much tho... Not by much AT ALL
Fuck. That solo in Emancipate is one of the best I've ever heard. I love The Faceless, and I really wish Keene got his shit together so he didn't keep losing members would actually start playing live shows again
No clue how Michael Keane sings while playing those passages so tightly and in time with those epic drums. And Wes Hauch is simply one of the cleanest and coolest lick writers in metal history. That ending solo to emancipate is mind blowingly melodic and unique
i agree and also disagree. lyle cooper was awesome, but having rudinger is amazing. plus he can play all of the planetary duality songs just....as much as i love lyle, alex is a great drummer.
im not talking about the music on the albums, all im really saying is i think geoff and alex were the best frontman and drummer. Lyle wrote some DOPE shit, but ive seen alot of videos of lyle playing it live and alot of videos of alex playing it live, and tbh, alex is not only more enthusiastic and energetic, but he is simply way more solid playing lyle's parts than lyle is.
exactly. alex is a machine so it is a treat to see them live and have him play their songs. I saw lyle live and im a huge fan but i think i would have gotten even more hype for alex. honestly, mostly every one in the band is replaceable, keene is the "creative energy" behind the band, even if he is a supposed asshole
There is nothing in the world you will ever be good at as much as Alex Rudinger is good at playing drums. The best part is that he didn't write any of these parts, but plays them spot on and improvises some. Open hand playing FTW.
They have such a top notch drummer. Just incredible precision and that double kick sounds perfect! Cuts right through the riffs. Keen is astounding as always.
I can't believe it's been nearly a decade since I attended this show. Core memory for me right here, I'm standing right there in the front row. These guys were my absolute favorite band at the time, no contest. 10 years later and I'm still social with Wes, so wild. Thank you for posting this.
part two is the only faceless song I've ever heard and I'm afraid to hear another one because this one is so great it's going to be hard to top it in my mind
Go to them. Visit the album. And then the next. Enjoy your journey through their fantastic catalogue. I suggest just letting a whole album consume you without shifting attention.
+Jonno Punch I got to see this line up pretty much but they still had brewer and cooper and it was dope. I just feel like Alex's drumming is not to 'standards' after planetary duality
Wtf???Where is the heart of the solo? Michael..U KNOW what I'm talking about!!!I"M P.O.!!!Recreate the studio recording LIVE...I NEED that PITCH!!!TONE!!!!
EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED...THAT ONE BEND UP TO EUPHORIA..That ONE BEND...SUCH A DEVASTATING NOTE...THE CLIMAX...OH...KILLED ME WAITING 4 IT...AND NO CLIMAX.
me myself Maybe he just likes the music even if he disagrees with its message? Not everyone uses music purely as a reinforcement of their ideological beliefs. I'm an atheist too but I believe in letting religious people believe what they want to, that doesn't mean I don't think this is a kickass album.
The double solo that starts at 9:38 is fuckin amazing, one of the best in tech death or in metal music as a whole. Alex'es accents on splash makes this even better. They are just geniuses.
This must have been the greatest concert to ever been played!!! I saw dillinger a couple of weeks ago!! And Ive always loved em!! But to see The faceless as the warm up band !!!!!!!!!!!!
this new vocalist is like really unique I think. his highs are so odd and his lows violently beautiful, ties right into the music. not to mention micheal keenes awesome clean vocals, idk why people complain about them.
Yeah, i was hoping for that but the solo was pretty much the same as it is on the cd which is already pretty awesome. I think that is an artificial high note which i think are hard to play.. i have noticed that some bands don't so their high notes as well. But still that was an awesome solo!
Jube M It's not artificial, it's called a harmonic. On the album he uses his whammy bar to bend the pitch and create the sound ur hearing. They arent always easy to land, but given that its Michael Keene and he had his bar that night, its odd that he didnt go for it.
That was supposed to be an overtone. Not so hard to play, it just requires to quickly mute the string with your big finger when you play that note to turn it into an overtone. However, your picking hand must be in a proper position (the one, where string has the highest amplitude). Most likely he forgot to move his hand in that position and it was to late to play an overtone.
This is the second time I've watched this video, and it's the second time that my face has melted. It's just incredible and given the technicality of the music, it's very clean too! Unlike Beneath The Massacre who "button bash" live.
Going to try, not sure if i'll be in the area or not tho yet...and we're seeing them at Summer Slaughter on the 24th. Ypu should for sure check out that show on the 15th, my good buddies called David Hasselhoff On Acid are opening the show
When I saw them in Madison he was like half off stage, it was a pretty small stage for 6 guys to play on but I still wanted to be able to see him play.
This HAS to be one of tech-death's strongest lineups ever.
Yeah Wes Hauch, Evan Brewer and Alex Rudinger is a pretty absurd supporting cast. Keene was collecting the death metal infinity stones lol
very grateful to have seen that tour with this lineup and btbam playing parallax 2 in its entirety , also the contortionist was on that show. one i will remember forever
so fuckin sad wes left like 2 years after this album, alex and evan did too after a while
This album is such a masterpiece, shame it wasn't as well received as it (IMO) should of been.
its their best one imo...EVERY song is so amazing.
I look at this album as a full metal masterpiece. It should be regarded as one of the best metal, not just prog death or deathcore or whatever genre you want to put it in, but one of the top metal albums.
It's because it's too Prog for the Death Metal fans and too Death Metal for the Prog fans
@@theevilincarnate645 hahaha thats so fucking true dude
I really enjoy the first part of the record but from "Ten Billion Years" onwards it really lets down imo.
The Faceless always had a reputation of studio quality live performances..
lol. that's because it is a backing vocal track for Michael
It's not hard to tell that there isn't a backing track lmfao.
lol, i wish they would have a better stage presence
lol. no. it isnt....
@@Brodytaylorsmith they're not programmed, they're samples
THIS is The Faceless. This lineup is perfection.
I have never hated these ads as much as I do now..
Alex Rudinger is something else
yes he is! and he is only the 3rd best drummer the Faceless has ever had. Lyle and Chason....
@@buckfuttler2877 lol what
@@ingokolb6871 exactly what i said. Lyle cooper and chason westmoreland are both better than alex.
He is such a legend
lyle cooper is much better
Lead at (9:39) is the best in the entire Faceless catalog. Bravo Keene just Bravo. Fantastic feel and technically meshed into transcendent bliss
OmniscientVirtuosity Keene is good, but Wes was the real shit! one of the most clean players ever!
Ehh... He was before I spoke with Keene and he made it clear he played pretty much all the good leads on that album. And outside of that Album, Wes has little tongi off of. What's up with him?
@@Volgin. he's basically an asshole and nobody can deal with his bullshit
@@postmortemspasm Really? I'm new at The Faceless, didn't know about that
@@Pleadingforriffs yepppp
@@postmortemspasm I don't think you should draw conclusions without knowing the full story.
They're playing technical music, which requires a lot of concentration. It's hard as hell to jump around and play tech/prog death at the same time.
that solo at the end of part 2. So excited to see this band in december
Bethan_Modelmaker so beautiful.
I am so glad I got to catch them on this tour. RIP The Faceless.

BEST LINEUP
Hell no. No. No fucking way in hell. The Planetary Duality line up was by far the pinnacle of The Faceless lineups.
i agree and also disagree. lyle cooper was awesome, but having rudinger is amazing. plus he can play all of the planetary duality songs just....as much as i love lyle, alex is a great drummer.
im not talking about the music on the albums, all im really saying is i think geoff and alex were the best frontman and drummer. There is nothing in the world you will ever be good at as much as Alex Rudinger is good at playing drums. The best part is that he didn't write any of these parts, but plays them spot on and improvises some. Open hand playing FTW.

9:33 chills everytime.
They have such a top notch drummer. Just incredible precision and that double kick sounds perfect! Cuts right through the riffs. Keen is astounding as always.
I like how no one is commenting on how BEUTIFUL mcihaels harmony to the recorded version was on "I am god"

Thank you for posting this.
Saw this tour, day before I deployed, stood right in front of Wes. Was an incredible send off.
This was my favourite Faceless line-up
I love how Alex adds an awesome fill at 02:38 and then Keene looks over and kinda gives him a nod of approval, haha.
Wes’s playing is amazing
This dude was the best vocalist they ever had. I saw them on this tour. Dude was bananas.
The movement is so... moving
damn this band was so sick. Wes Hauch just didn't get enough time playing solos in this band. Keene can write some epic tunes for sure.
godamn these people fuse and make amazing works together
They ALWAYS sound so close to their studio work. That's what makes seeing them live so awesome.
this has been the best lineup, hope they stay this way
Victor Gerard Melendez isjustbsaw them and was so sad . I loved this lineup too.
Ha
Mendozer01 lmao
Really happy to see live footage of Movement I and II, was hoping to see them play it live. Thank you so much for the sick vid brah.
Insanely tight band live!
Seriously a flawless performance.
It's sad watching this and seeing what their live performances are like today.
And it's getting worse...
you can't blame michael, he has always had a perfect skills. now he's in trouble and that's sad.
Great audio for a live concert recording.
I really love this part 13:45
i didn't know the drummer for killswitch engage could scream?
part two is the only faceless song I've ever heard and I'm afraid to hear another one because this one is so great it's going to be hard to top it in my mind

Perfect line up in the world.
No, planetary duality was better.
indeed. btw in (my) world haha
+Jonno Punch I got to see this line up pretty much but they still had brewer and cooper and it was dope. I just feel like Alex's drumming is not to 'standards' after planetary duality
Seriously one of the absolute best tech death bands. And Rüdy is one of the greatest metal drummers of all time. This fuckin kicks ass.
Alex Rudinger
I was in the front row. Amazing set.
Insulting religion for being a cancer to society doesn't make you evil, it makes you rational

I guess he didn't play it live because you can easily mess it up, he went with the "safe route" hehe, although I agree with you
EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED...THAT ONE BEND UP TO EUPHORIA..That ONE BEND...SUCH A DEVASTATING NOTE...THE CLIMAX...OH...KILLED ME WAITING 4 IT...AND NO CLIMAX.
I think he tried it. Just didn’t ring out. To hit that pitch harmonic perfectly everytime is extremely hard
fucking hell yeah yeah what a line up!! Rudi killed it
seeing the faceless in austin on septemeber 20th.. STOKED
Props to whomever recorded this, Idve been headbangin too much , Great work and thanks \m/
The three most wonderfully Atheist songs ever created. Fuck I love this album.
Fuck yeah Alex, can't tell you how happy I am that you're in this band!

Love this band, but it's a pitty that he doesn't play that soultearing high note in the solo around @ 10:00 (10:18 on the cd)

I was there! Front row, guy with the ponytail right in front of Keene!
Sin duda la mejor alineación de la banda
