song is "Still Alive" by GLaDOS & Jonathan Coulton
why can't they make consoles do this anymore
As cool as it looks, it's inconvenient for what consoles can do today.
Mr. Clod How?
Klasse 117 Not sure what I originally meant, but do you want an easy to navigate menu or a cool looking menu?
Klasse it's something you'll understand if you study "human-machine interface", it's about some psychological bullshit and habits that people tend to have, and based on those things you design an interface that's more convenient to use.
They discontinued the original Xbox in 2006 for Japan, in 2007 for Europe and in 2009 for North America
...I miss custom soundtracks. That was really what made me love the Xbox. I wish consoles nowadays did this more often.
The dashboard of the original Xbox looks like if you are actually playing a game.
@@aaadj2744 Why do you keep saying this?
XxFireLoseXx sorry. This was when before someone had reply to me. So, I'm asking everybody if someone had an answer
@@aaadj2744 Oh, I'm sorry.
@@flame6487 that's exactly what I said like you asking it on every single comment section stop

the brief preview of Machine Gun by Portishead. 👀
this video was made a little bit after the Metro Last Light trailer used that song which I imagine is why it was on the xbox.
I fucking hate it how modern consoles have hardly any personality to them anymore. Its just this bland boot up and menu
Xbox One's startup is nothing but a picture with a green screen and Xbox logo on it. PS4 just tells me to turn on the controller and log in.
I actually prefer the look of modern, simplistic UIs - cleaner, faster, and more-user friendly. I think the old design just looks at bit overdone and unprofessional.
Just because I was born in 2006, I still got to experience the original Xbox. The Main menu and startups is so cool.

Man I wish Xbox had their things look like this still because this is cool it looks like the inside of Ben10‘s watch
Those sounds are badass
I remember me and my buddy used to listen to his big ass collection of music on the dash every time we spent the night at each others house, back in middle school.
I wonder what's up with that machine in the start up.
***** As a kid me and my bros always called it The Green Ditto.
***** Instead of saying let's go play the game we'd be like "time to spawn another Green Ditto!"
***** And then the theory here was that once the machine (being the xbox itself we thought) finished creating The Green Ditto, It [The Green Ditto] always automatically knew to transform into the xbox logo, providing us with the game and its services.
***** IT BASICALLY BECOMES THE XBOX ITSELF EVERYTIME
***** Or At least that's what we liked to believe. Being 8 n all.
Beautiful. This and Xbox 360 can't be beaten.
Holy cow I miss this old types of Ui. Minimalism has in a way destroyed soul
dude why is this so high quality. Wish I could mod my Xbox to take HDMI.

I remember waking up waiting to play some Harry Potter game, & spiderman. The good days of early 2000's.
