  • What is Waldorf?
The desire to explore comes naturally to children. Waldorf education provides a rare opportunity for today's kids: ample time and space to think, feel and explore independently. (Seattle Waldorf School web-page, Our tradition).

I came from a non Waldorf primary school tho. So I got that shit. And my school was only "half" waldorf. We got subsidies. Did most of the Waldorf curriculum. Plus regular curriculum, which included tests. And gave us a regular diploma. All of us. Our graduation rate before do overs was 100%. First try. Which is special...

What I love most about this is that these kids were creative enough, and secure and confident enough with themselves, to make jokes of some of these things in a playful and endearing way. my high school had immersive arts with majors. we called it Rennaisance. You had to audition or submit a portfolio and you were exempt from gym and study. a typical day was core academics for the first half of the day and from lunch (we used to spend an average of 20 minutes in lunch then had to go to choir rehearsals. then for me it was band followed by instrumental study or minoring in art, photo, theater, dance, or choir. then after school rehearsals and city band and on wednesdays we had college band at the local college.

      Hello,
At least in my time using crayons in the lower grades, my friends and I would draw spaceships and other mechanical objects solely out of black. We then realized that our drawings would be more interesting if they had more color in them, so we largely discontinued the use of that crayon in our artwork. Furthermore, our lesson drawings in the later grades tended to be vibrant, so we did not use neutral colors like white, gray, and black. Despite the obvious implication of your inquiry, Waldorf Education as a whole firmly opposes any racist connotations and is perhaps more inclusive than other private school community. I myself am a Waldorf Student, and I consider myself very lucky to be able to experience Waldorf education first hand. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask, and I will answer as soon as possible.
I hope you find the chance to read this, and thank you,
      Ben

Black pens or pencils are used in the middle school as black on white is an underlying construct of critical thinking and as such should only be utilized when the child is intellectually able to understand abstract thought. If used earlier it stifles imaginative thinking and the sense of wonder that the young child has and then actually retards critical thinking later
It has zero to do with the concept of race.
Later in the middle school it is used in stroke drawing, then sketching and then finally portraiture work in the upper school
These students are taking the piss out of their detractors.
Finally all paper work is considered fine art and all fine art has borders, any art museum curator will tell you that.

      They don't use black colours

    • @romsita
      @romsita 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

In a technical sense, black and white are not colors. To create darker colors, children learn to mix them. In Waldorf schools, you are first introduced to the primary colors in the small grades (yellow, red and blue) and learn to create secondary and tertiary colors by mixing these (yellow + blue = green. Red + blue = purple Red + yellow = orange.) Waldorf education is about creating, and achieving results by having gone through the process yourself. That is true for all subjects in Waldorf education. That is why it is common for Waldorf kids to be recognized in universities by teachers because of their need to understand the "why/how" of any given concept.
Hence the "you don't give an answer with a bubble" comment at the end of this video. Multiple choice answers is not something you find in Waldorf tests, because you are taught to know the answers, deeply, and to answer in your own words. Hope this helps!
(I went to Waldorf schools from kindergaden to 12th grade, and am forever grateful for this experience.)

rainbowlightchann Thanks! I wonder how people deduce the need to do that from Steiner's work, he was pre-TV after all. My friend who went to a Steiner school calls them "the most benign cult in the world" :)

hansvalen yeah, I'm not sure how they deduce those kinds of things..but I'm so grateful to never have been exposed to media and TV as a child because it let me develop my own imagination, creativity and let me experience a whole lots of things in nature and books instead :)
