These bikes are so underrated as a retro full suspension No retro bike will perform as well as new generation bikes but these bike in context of there age perform so well
Wow, I can’t believe it’s not cracked!!!! I cracked SO many DHi rear ends. Servicing that drive was a full time job, but I do remember the bike riding exceptionally well. I could pedal through the rough stuff. Keep it going!
@@AC-sr3pbNo kidding, right? And mind you, I ride pretty good size drops off this bike to boot and I'm like, "How have I not cracked the seat tube nor swingarm?"
Thanks. I think at some point I'll have to retire it since it is becoming increasingly hard to find bushings or even materials to craft them. I may end up ultimately selling it here in the US if someone needed a donor frame to keep theirs going.
I've just built a Old Cannondale CAAD3 frame, put a Hope "reducer" headset on so I could put normal carbon forks instead of the Fat headtube cannondale forks, it's SICK!..I LOVE oldskool bikes, the Frame is old here tho, but the Components are brand new..11x1 XTR, Crossmax's. Carbon and Titanium everything else, REALLY lightweight bike.
The CAAD3s are awesome colors. I remember the Cannondale trials guys like Martyn Ashton and Libor Karas used them in compeititons. The Cannondale Advanced Aluminum Design (CAAD) frames are quit exception with regard to being lightweight. If you ever decide you want to spend >$175 on a Headshok rebuild, you may want to consider this outfit as this company does rebuilds. risseracing.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=612
one of the few dual susp bikes you can run single speed without any sort of chain tension device as there is no chain growth. just never take that pivot system apart if you want to retain your sanity.
That's so true about taking the linkage apart. It is a bear. A person (in one of the link I put in the video description) does a video and even watching it gives me mechanic's PTSD.
Hello there, I been following your videos. I have a question. I just found a GT XCR (my second one) with XTR shifters and crank in excellent condition. The bike has been garaged for the last 10 years and previously used on a bike trainer. This bike came with Evoluzione disc brakes that need to be bleeding. My question is , do you know anything about those brakes? They almost look brand new.
Thank you for following my videos, I have never, ever heard of those brakes before and I tried searching for what these could be on Google and it's all over the place for results. My advice is: Go to a bike shop, your favorite bike shop and have them find out what brakes those are and if they are supported. Like, are there brake pads available for it, does it use DOT, mineral oil or some other kind of fluid for the brakes because if you find out that no one makes pads or parts for these brakes, then consider just replacing them with something that is more well-known and supported. Other factors for making sure it is supported are you crash and bend/break a lever or you're doing your own bleeding and you accidentally lose or strip out a thread to a part. Generic brakes are budget friendly but just such a hassle many times to get any technical information on them as well.
GT full suspensions are cool but so many models end up failing. People will say other bikes do that but other brands of full suspensions I own don't and I ride them just as hard.
If you're in the US, there are a couple on eBay, specifically for the non-trunion. Another option is just finding a frame for sale and salvaging the shock off it. For the amount of time and hassle these days, I've just ordered custom shocks from Risse Racing for the LTS and RTS bikes.
@@yuri_on_youtube CUSTOM SHOCKS Risse Racing they still make them then...thanks i will have a look st them,,and no im not in the US in the UK ,thanks again
I still ride it to this day and it is one of the best riding suspension platforms with the Angle Optimized Suspension (AOS) by Peter Denk really being the best (IMHO).

I would reckon with premium parts, it's be a phenominally great rig. With this heavy RST fork, it really holds the bike back a lot.

Currently restoring an XCR5K now
There is a TH-camr who does a really detailed service of these iDrives and it is a really exceptionally helpful video.
Good to see you still have the idrive. Still looks amazing im slowing changing parts on my 2004 3.0. Love it as my 1st ds mtb

iDrive alive !!!! Now I want to build up one of my iDrives !!!!
If you end up needing spares, I may have something for you in the future.

My frame had cracks all around the welds.

You need a rock guard for the sprocket
It's fine. I don't really ever clip anything with it.
I have one of these frames rotting in the backyard if anyone wants to rescue it.
where are you?
I have one also... .I love it!!!!!
