- It’s finally finished!!! Custom Shop Seymour Duncan Omega bridge pickup, CTS 500K pots were all installed, filed nut, was given professional luthier set up action, intonation and applied fretboard treatment to that beautiful jatoba wood and delicate truss rod adjustment. I’ve been a Seymour Duncan artist for over 20 years but this Omega bridge is by far the most versatile, from beautiful to pissed! Definitely grab these. IMHO they blow everything else out of the game!
This is the kind video I've been trying to find to see what these pickups actually sound like. I'm not saying I doubt holcomb but I just needed and idea of the tone and this does that pretty damn well.
That being said the first few minutes, this guy was having a blast. That's gonna be me in 3-4 days
Thank you! Omega is a ripper for sure! It’s a very aggressive pickup but it’s well balanced and has a great EQ curve. Glad you liked it.
I got the Alpha and Omega set for my 7 string. Best investment for that guitar yet! Was a pain in the ass to get in there but they sound great!

Do you think the Omega sounds good in e standard/ drop d? I came across a really good deal for it and bought it. It would be going in a Fender Jaguar blacktop. Coming from an Invader I was getting tired of the muddiness and bass, but still want it to be chunky in standard tuning without being to bright.
Shiny Wizard Absolutely and Thank you! Different weight and different woods in guitar bodies make a difference. However I believe you’ll love it! It’s got a great EQ curve and I use it in all sorts of tunings from E standard, Drop D, Drop C# and even Drop Bb

Hi you mentioned in another comment that you're using the "trembucker" version of the omega pickup. Just wondering how that came to be when the bridge is fixed bridge. Shouldn't it be standard sized?
Kamil Hasbi Usually yes. However Ibanez uses all F-spaced pickups on these models so as a Seymour Duncan Omega bridge is my favorite I ordered it trembucker to fit appropriately and have strings poles lined perfectly 🤟
Hey Greg, nice tones! Seems like a pickup change is indeed worthwhile with the RGA42. I assume you didn't need to replace the pots as they have already been 500k ones, or did you? Did you replace the plastic nut before filing? Cheers!
Matthias Fromm Thank you! Yes the 500K pots were cheap I put CTS 500k pots inside and pickups are F spaced or Trembucker for a perfect fit. Nut is an earvana compensated nut. Cheers 🍻

Thanks for the reply. I think it sounds great. I'm considering it for my Les Paul going through a Mesa. I'm having somehow end issues with current pup which is a PAF Pro. Any thoughts?
JHenzly Seymour Duncan JB is a classic humbucker with great low end response and the Omega by Seymour Duncan has thick lows and a tighter response for modern metal with a crisp midrange attack and bite. Either pick up will shine!

JHenzly Trembucker also called F-Spaced is the size humbucker to fit this Ibanez rga42fm so the pickup poles are in alignment under the strings 🤟
I think the stock pickups in these are not to bad really, the bridge is the thing that most needs replaced since its kinda chinsy....needs a Gibralter.
Roger Moore I’ve replaced the pickups to custom shop Seymour Duncan Omega’s however I absolutely love the fixed bridge on this thing provides excellent sustain being flat on the body and it’s been professionally set up in drop C# it performs very well.
On my model (dragon eye burst) im think of going with a more vintage voiced medium output pup for some jazz fusion style playing. I think this guitar is suited for many styles. When i get mine finished ill post a vid of something in ball field so you guys tell me what you think of different voicing/output selection for this guitar once youve seen my video.

I love that omega though huge fan of periphery and mark. The set up im thinking of going with is sh 11 custom custom in the bridge and a sentient in the neck.

x7stringinJSCx Thank you for enjoying this demo. Yes Jimmy Clips are nice however I don’t care about the look of fret wraps but I like that they perform better. Also less expensive than J clips. When I record in studio sometimes we’ll just use a strip of electrical tape across the truss rod cover.
is the jatoba fingerboard better than rosewood?

Subhaswata Well in my opinion if you want to hear the wood in this guitar and achieve an extremely aggressive tone. I’d recommend a Seymour Duncan Omega bridge pickup and a Sentient Neck pickup. EMG is great however for this particular guitar it may sound to thin and not enough bass response. Try what works best for you and your tone. Thank you

Timothy Russell yes. I actually enjoy the tone and response from neck pick though. I replaced bridge with a custom shop Seymour Duncan Omega pickup.
I just read somewhere that the neck pickup doesn't have to be f shaped so I was just curious as to your opinion.
Timothy Russell Ibanez rga42fm tech support will recommend pickup swap to be F spaced. The poles need to match where the strings are.
