Brilliant. Often the smaller the boat the more fun or at least less stress. When I was in High school in the Middle East my neighbor and I found an old abandoned laser hull. It had no sails or a mast nor a rudder. We stuck my old windsurfing rig on it and found an oar for the rudder. We spend hours messing around on it. The achievement we got from adding bits a pieces to make it work was fantastic. We actually put the same sail on the back of my dad's 24 ft catamaran to make it a ketch 🙂

Hi Mike, it does seem we have a disproportionate amount of fun with small boats! No doubt your friend and you felt more satisfaction from your tinkering than you would have if you had found a ready-to-go Laser. :-) A ketch catamaran is a very cool idea, I guess it could have acted as a riding sail at anchor too... Very best regards, Chris (Plus Rossella & Emma) 🙂

That anchorage looks so nice and relaxing

Hi Garreth! There are lots of gorgeous anchorages around there and the vast majority of them get very quiet at night, even when they are jam-packed during the day. Most people there head back into marinas so you often get lots of peace & quiet an night. Very best regards, Chris, Rossella & Emma 😊

Any plans on building another one of these? I've been excited about building one since I saw your video about it a couple years ago. It's a little down my list of things to build, but hopefully this year or next!

Yes I would love to build another boat as soon as I can find the time. It was one of the most satisfying things I've ever done! Cheers, Chris 👍

Hi Mark, thank you for prompting me to learn something new. In Italy people refer to this noise as being made by as "grilli" which translates as "grasshoppers", despite these sound actually being made by an insect called a "cicala" or "cavaletta", which is a cicada and is in fact very different. Every day is a school day! Chris 👍

This is a different video from that same period where we filmed vlogs from the boat (this vid is all about the dinghy). Also, we have a new found appreciation for how much of a privilege it was to live so freely back then... Cheers, Chris 👍
